First topic message reminder :

Following on from Kenny's excellent idea to help tidy this section up, and stop lots of different threads about the same things, i have decided to set up this topic.
So any CONFIRMED signings or Extensions you hear about just add them here. For Rumours just put them on Kenny's RL news thread.

BRADFORD

Elliot Whitehead, who was in the final year of his contract, has penned a new deal with Bradford to remain at the club till 2016.

Sign Chris Clarkson from Leeds, seemingly a replacement for Tyrone McCarthy.  Thoughts Tiger, solid signing albeit I can't with respect to him imagine you doing cartwheels over this?

Salford sign;

Phil Joseph (Widnes)
Craig Kopczak (Hudds)
Gareth O'Brien (Wire)
Mark Flanagan (Saints)
Robert Lui (North Queensland)
Ben Murdock-Masila (Penrith)

and perhaps most significantly Tim Sheens are Director of Rugby for 3 years.  Interesting mix, moving away from "big" names towards solid pro's who I think will do better next year(admittedly I do not know much about the Aussies).

With regards to Clarkson, you're right about him being a replacement for McCarthy. You're also right about me not being overly impressed with him. A) I would rather a ball playing LF, than another solid but not special forward who fits in anywhere in the back 3. B) I would like our SR to be Larroyer & Donaldson with Lawler, Ollett, Horne as back ups with the above I feel that that is a more than capable back 3. Nothing against Clarkson, but to me he's just another solid forward, which we already have our fair share off. Though I hope he proves me wrong of course.
Not so many years ago Chris Clarkson was going to be the next big thing.
What went wrong?

I think it's a problem with regards clubs methods. We don't train players in a specialized position anymore, but to play in all forward roles if required, and train them as such. With little bits of knowledge of each position.

HUDDERSFIELD

Have signed Ryan Brierley from Leigh on a 4 1/2 year contract with immediate effect.

Halves of Brough and Brierley, that's quite frightening when you think about it. Not sure were Ellis and Wood fit in though given Hinchcliffe has been playing hooker.

Wigan;

Josh Charnley confirmed as signing for Sale Sharks RU at the end of the season.

Dan Sarginson is heading for Australia, Gold Coast Titans I believe.

I suspect Wigan will roll out the next crop of juniors to replace them without too much fuss.

Huddersfield;

Sign Sebastine Ikahihifo from St George Illawarra 2.5 years, could make his debut at the magic weekend.

I would not be surprised to see other sides at the bottom of the table look to strengthen to ensure their SL status is kept through the middle 8's.

Hull FC;

sign Josh Griffin from Salford, 3 years starting from 2017.

Leigh;

Sign Ben Evans on loan for 1 month from Warrington to cover for possible impending suspensions.

Also Travis Burns (Saints) for the rest of the season, I think Martin Ridyard might be injured, when fit they have an embarassment of quality compared with the rest of the championship (Bradford, currently no fit recognised stand off, no scrum half at all).

Castleford;

Luke Gale signs a 5 year extension at Castleford. Can't remember anyone having such a long contract, Gale imo certainly deserves the faith shown in his abilities.

Bradford;

Sign Kieran Moss (Full Back) from Paramatta Eels (to the best of my knowledge he has yet to play 1st grade) until the end of 2017.

Really don't get the Burns deal, As you say they already have excellent players for the positions he plays, plus an ideal back up in Whiting who has also signed a full time deal with them.
I know I'm being petty, but it almost makes me hope that they don't get promoted (generally as long as Rovers stay up I'm not to bothered), as they're making a mockery of the championship in my opinion.

Got to be honest. I'm am suprised he's back at Cas, given the players that they've got in his position. And I think they are a better team without him, but time will tell.

TORONTO

Have signed Rhys Jack (Sheffield), Blake Wallace (Illawarra Cutters), Craig Hall (Wakefield), Liam Kay (Leigh), James Laithwaite & Gary Wheeler (Warrington).

Be intresting to see how they fit them into the salary cap....,

oh wait,
that's right to give them an unfair advantage and to make sure they're not in league 1 for long, the rfl have raised it.
Who cares about fairness in the league's, not the rfl.

I would not be surprised to see the P&R format changed particularly if no-one is promoted this year but also when big spending Toulouse and Toronto (training and possibly playing games at Odsal) inevitably arrive in the Championship. Good luck to Champ 1 sides v Toronto, ouch.

was also surprised by this. There was a reason he left in the first place. And I'm not sure that he's improved enough to warrant a return.

your comment about p&r. As you know I'm a fan of the current system, but you know that red hall are praying Leigh get up, so that they can say it's working, if they don't. You can bet that there will be some tinkering with the format.

Good to see you posting GH, from your comments on another thread hope you are well.

Agree with your comments on Eden, great talent but like a few others looks like someone who likes the big spectacular play but does not work as hard on the basics thus an error or two seems waiting to happen. That said if anyone can get the best from him its Daryl Powell.

Bradford;

sign, Illess Macani (wing), Jon Magrin (prop) and Alex Foster (Centre/SR) from London, all 2 year deals.

Rhys Lovegrove retires from playing due to concussions and will join the Bulls coaching staff working on strength and conditioning particularly with the U16's & U19's. Very solid player, if he is half as successful in the new role the Bulls academy will continue to prosper.

Rohan Smith apparently looking for 5 - 6 new recruits, mostly forwards.

London

Follow up the Purtell signing with Jay Pitts from Bradford, 2 years. Around 20 players leaving the Bulls, Pitts is one of a handful I am sorry to see leave. Technically sound, works very hard every week, good acquisition for the Broncos.

Yes, a great match I though Hull might win with a wider margin, it will be interesting to see how both sides react physically and mentally after such a hard physical battle.

Bradford;

amid continued rumors of financial disaster (winding up order will be heard and hopefully resolved on Monday) Bulls sign Leon Pryce (Hull FC, 1 year) and Jason Walton (Wakefield, 2 years).

Assuming all is well Pryce and Chisholm will make an interesting half back pairing with Joe Keyes who has made a good start to his Bulls career continuing to develop.

Unless people know more than what i know and that wouldn't be hard, but i can't see the Bulls playing in the championship next season.
I've heard that to continue they will have to play in Championship 1 unless somebody come along and takes on all the debts.
I still think it was a mistake on the RF'Ls part not to let Marwen Koukash wife take them over

That is the rumour however there have been some wild speculation including a new Bradford Northern being formed with new backers of which there is no sign. The message is however mixed, the club are cutting costs, currently no MD, CEO the performance analyst (Lance Du'Lac) post has been deleted, 20 players are leaving but.........if they are about to go into administration why sign 5 new players (including Leon Pryce) who could then walk away???? Granted stranger things have happened but something does not tie up.

Bradford;

No news on the winding up order however they have today announced the signing of Ross Peltier (Prop, Keighley, 2 years) who from his You Tube highlights looks a natural Mitch Clark replacement, his try at 1:44 v USA is exactly what they need. Granted these clips are with respect not against the top rated opposition.

2 good signings for the clubs, but Stewart won't be cheap.
