The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Cross Keys
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Cross Keys, as their team is in the British and Irish Cup Final.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Richie McCaw, George Smith, Robert Nash,Billy Holland, John Muller, Greg Laidlaw, Aurelien Rougerie, Leo Cullen, Rhys Thomas and Iestyn Thomas.

If you see someone called Steven Bond in Dubai, Munsty, say hello from me, he's my cousin. Chances are he'd need to be wearing a name badge for you to know who he was, but maybe name badges are all the rage over there.

Help! I told my bro that it would probably be better if he waited to buy a ticket until after the dust had settled from the SFs. Now Ticketmaster is saying that it's a sell-out. Any ideas out there? Any STHs with unused allocation? Please?

Really cant see it happening Puma. It was a near sellout, long before the SF's. I'll let you know if George or Michelle get their allocation in the Leinster STH Draw.
They have gone for 2 each.

Thanks guys keep searching. I am hoping that some tickets that had been bought by Embra or ASM fans might become available, otherwise will have to try picking one up on the day, but if any of the regs can help, I would be eternally grateful. Bert only lives an hour from Richmond on the train, so last minute travel arrangements are not a prob.

Asbo, I mentioned it to a buddy of mine over here from Ulster, he said he may pop along depending on how many of his mates turn up for the game, he was talking about 20. That's too many ulster fans for me

Is that the one over near Marlebone? I went for pub lunch at a pub full of royal tat over that way once. The Thai curry was good at least.

Oh yea it was I dont especially care about those things despite Portnoy referring to political Irish history in every post
Its all in the past. Anyway the royals bring a great sense of pagentry and medieval celebrity to a very drab UK!!

It didnt strike me as a place that did "pub grub" or meals of any kind really. Just a place that can pull a good pint of Guinness and is a nice place to sup a drink with friendly staff who don't mind letting Hughie into their establishment.

Pethshitepuma,
This is another site that sells tickets. Again its pricy - http://www.viagogo.ie/Sports-Tickets/Rugby-Union/Heineken-Cup-Tickets/E-354816
I hope we have some left over near the time as those sites are crazy prices and would hate you to pay it.

Stag, do you consider it a compliment that Ulster and Leinster will be trying to out Munster each other?

In Munster we say that they are trying to "out Tiger" each other.
We learnt a huge amount from the 2000-2002 Tigers team in how they went about their business. We simply improved on it and put them to the sword by giving them a taste of their own medicine in 2003.
Could we see the ladyboys "out Leinstered" next year.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Cross Keys
Glas might be the only person who thinks Munsters style in 2006 is roughly equivalent to Leinster 2012!
Opposite ends of the spectrum really; one team lives off quick ball and fluid game-breaking backs moves the other off slow ball, mauls, pick and gos and tactical kicking. Ulster in the middle ground between the two.
I'm surprised there hasn't been more Welsh admiration for Leinster- they play the kind of rugby you love over there except they win trophies with it. Sometimes the lines of running are pretty breathtaking.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Cross Keys
Notch I think both Leinster and Ulster have unique styles. Ulster remind me a lot of Biarritz. A solid pack, a good backline and they have a playmaking number 9 with a #10 who takes far more of a backseat in the team. They play as part of France/Ireland but do not forget that they are Basque/N.Irish either.
It is a similarity I have felt for a while.
Leinster do something that so few teams do. Whoever is first to the ruck acts as scrumhalf. Its a very simple but very effective thing to do.

now what good would it do to let on too quickly!
What do you mean? Did you see the last 10 minutes of the Clermont game? Pure Munster, lying on everything.

Sorry, kiwi - I had to work like stink for a bit there ahead of (yet another) trip to Ex tomorrow.
The scoot back homewards on the tube.
The London regs should meet up for a summer pub crawl. Either Marylebone or Tower Bridge to Borough Market (and maybe on towards Waterloo).
Wouldn't fancy doing it in the sort of weather we've been having recently.

Thats a really sharp comment made in jest, in fact. We set a standard, learned in part - from Munster & Tigers before us... but most of all - Toulouse.
Toulouse are our template as a club and as an entity. Never mind as a team.
Our next task is to try and emulate them, for years to come.
My bet, is that ASM will "Out Leinster" us next year. The hurt is in place.
