Barrel's Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub & Restaurant, Luderitz
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has stayed in Africa this week as part of its build up to the Heineken Cup final, and attached itself to Barrels restaurant in Luderitz, Namibia, known for its beer, Eisbein and sing-a-longs.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Simon Danielli, Federico Aramburu and the possibly Auckland-bound Joe Schmidt.

"Other than that I’m pretty much 22 years old forever."
Me too Mick, although lately I've started to feel more like 23. Time stands still for no man.
Ah tis good to hear you're still the same old (or young) Mick after all.
In fact it's good to find out you are all still here, I was a little down about losing contact as I had planned to meet you all. Have only met very few and then again only fleetingly as my hands were full that day

Each to their own priority! Mine is simply to kick off the weekend much as we did last year in the company of my mates with some decent grub and a few fine to wash it all down before the real entertainment starts!

Flippin bloody hell, Ravenhill to get renamed? Not a chance, it's always going to be Ravers even if some Russian billionaire buys it.....although the Putin stadium has a certain ring to it. Sparky would be put to pasture and replaced with a much bigger, menacing, Russian bear. Even the announcer would have to hang up his microphone.....in my dreams.

It seems to be 5 years William.
Remember that was one of the things that got me so annoyed about Calum Clark's ban. They said his previous was not considered because it was more than 5 years ago and while he was an U18 when in fact it was more recent and he was 19 at the time!

Contrast that to the situation with Clark. I am pretty sure they reduced his ban as his red card in the JWC for a ridiculous head charge was about 4 years ago (which was incorrect anyway, it was around 2 or 3 years ago).

Haskell's ban was always 3 weeks EB. Are you sure you didn't mis-hear a 4 week ban reduced by 1 (for pleading guilty or similar?)

Re: Barrel's Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub & Restaurant, Luderitz
I was reading yesterday's Times on the way home from netball last night, they described Haskell's Super Rugby efforts as "2nd only to McCaw" this season
Given that
a) McCaw's not started a match yet and only played an hour or so of rugby this season
b) Haskell only got a starting berth at the Highlanders due to injury
c) Adam Thompson's been shading him by a healthy margin for the Highlanders
Where's that facepalm emoticon

In fairness once he got used to the pace of the game he's been pretty useful for the Highlanders. But as an openside he'd be behind Latimer and Todd in the NZ conference, and Pocock and Brussow among others in the other conferences.

Here's the detail:
http://www.espnscrum.com/super-rugby-2012/rugby/story/163910.html
England back-row James Haskell has had his three-week suspension for punching extended to four.
The usual penalty for Haskell's offence was six weeks but due to his guilty plea, his remorse and seemingly flawless record of no previous citings this period was reduced to three. However, it was brought to SANZAR duty judicial officer Mike Heron's attention that Haskell had in fact received a one-week suspension back in 2008 while playing for Wasps.
After that was brought to light, Haskell was called back in front of the disciplinary panel and Heron readdressed his decision.
Pity the RFU didn't do the same for Calum Clark(e?)

Did anyone ever hear anything back from the RFU about the horlicks they made of Clark's ban?
I emailed them but then was away for a week.
I was surprised the papers didn't pick up on it.
