Barrel's Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub & Restaurant, Luderitz
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has stayed in Africa this week as part of its build up to the Heineken Cup final, and attached itself to Barrels restaurant in Luderitz, Namibia, known for its beer, Eisbein and sing-a-longs.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Simon Danielli, Federico Aramburu and the possibly Auckland-bound Joe Schmidt.

I believe in keeping things simple, so I stuck with my maiden name Swanny's been my nickname for so long I couldn't bear to part with it!!
And yes I have been continuing with the photography, perhaps not as much as I'd like but when I can.

Good to hear because it was clear to see there was a god given talent there. Not everyone can justify the number of megapixels on their camera
Where is Gibbo? Is he still frequenting this place or has he done a bunk?

MrsP you'd never bar him and you know it
Rav my bedtime is when traditionally I'd only be heading out on the razzle not many years ago. I haven't even been in the pub for a year now. That would be criminal if it weren't for the fact I've simply been completely devoted to being daddy
Oh Christian can sing 'Stand up for the Ulstermen' by the way. I'm so proud

I refuse point blank to drink in a bar called The Stag on the Saturday. I don't like the real life Stag one bit see
Congrats Prop.
Is Gibbo banned for real? I can't see that being right. Who could get offended by that loveable hippy rogue.

No worries
I think it will be a good game at The Stoop. Quins by at least 10, given the number of front line forwards Saints have missing through injury and suspension. Brown and Foden are in fine form at the moment, so that will be an interesting match up.

Evening all, that GAA thread has some very surprising views but it's a good read. I'm thinking Gibbo has not been barred but if he has it's because the football section has had a few disagreements with him...
Also welcome to our newest Pete (there's too many feicing Petes in here....) I don't remember a lot about you but Welcome.

Just saw munster squad for semi v ospreys. 11 of them were involved for munster 'A' in B & I Final v The Keys! 8 of them in the forwards!
Cheating buzzards those Munster types. Moral victory for the Keys woohoo.

Rev, two more were brought in due to Jones' injury. Most of those guys were on the bench the first time anyway.

Busy learning how to pick some songs, it is truly a different challenge, but hopefully worth it.

Re: Barrel's Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub & Restaurant, Luderitz
Biltong, what do you make of the England squad for the tour (assuming you've seen it)?
I know Lancaster's stated aim is building a squad for 2015, but it's a very callow bunch with 13 new caps. On top of all the players who debuted in the 6N.
They will battle - the team ethos is there on that score now - but I reckon it will be a helluva steep learning curve for them. Only three players have ever toured SA before

Re: Barrel's Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub & Restaurant, Luderitz
Hound it looks good, however I am not a fan of Mouritz Botha, I can't beleive he is one of the best in England, when I think of guys like Martin Johnson, you usually have high claibre tight fives and without be disrepsectful towards botha, if he is one of your best, then the pickings seem a little slim there.
The rest will be intereting to see who the first choice will be.
I was impressed with Barrit and I think if tuilangi distributes a bit more, then your backline can be dangerous.
Not sure who Lancaster will put at fullback though, and not convinced about your half backs.
If England wants to beat us, they will need quick ruck ball, and I think that is likely to be their downfall.

Fascinating game tonight; a young Munster XV without O'Connell and O'Gara away against a tough Ospreys side.
We're going to learn a lot about where Ian Keatley is as a player.

Evening pub
biltong but I'm not a Dire Straits fan either. Great guitarist but a voice as dull as ditchwater.
MrsP, should Gibbo be making use of protective sportswear? Ice hockey kit? Or maybe a cricket box?...
I have come sooo close to dropping a clanger this weekend! It dawned on me this afternoon that my car insurance runs out tomorrow! Sorted now though so I can drive legally tomorrow. Phew

Foden will be full back as the 'man in possession'. Agree about our half backs and I'm pleased that Care is back in the squad; he's consistently been head and shoulders above any other 9 in the Prem. Flood in for Farrell (and yep, I know he's the media's pet) who is not an international class distributor.
Haskell apart, I can see our back row struggling if Lancaster insists on not over committing to the breakdown in favour of a strong defensive line.
Gotta stand down for a bit - in the oub and the phone needs charging.

Aw, it's a shame I won't get to meet you Swanny but there's always next year in Dublin!
Sods law dictates that after having had an all-Irish final in London there'll be no Irish sides involved in Dublin next year but I'm planning to go down for it anyway
