The Dew Drop Inn Virtual HEC Final Rugby Pub, Twickenham
First topic message reminder :
Chin chin and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has arrived in London this week for the Heineken Cup final so has stocked up on cucumber sandwiches ( - KRD ) and Pimms.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Ruan Pienaar, Stephen Ferris, Jonathon Sexton, Rob Kearney and Jonny Wilkinson (the five nominees for the ERC Player of the Year award), Nigel Owens the HEC final referee or Adam Powell (captain of Llanelli RFC who are playing Ponty in the Welsh club final on Friday). The CCTV snaps of Prop_Lyd and the other Cardiff Saracens players on tour in Croatia are fair game though.

Sounds like a totally dominant performance from Leinster...
Congrats to all the regs still on their legs, or singing, etc.
Comiserations Ulster fans. Your team still has the right stuff... there'll be more better things for sure.
Glas, I came 40/60 in SG.

The Rev is asleep on the floor beside me. Save All Snores. Ummm, and Ummiminna were here. We all had a perfect day together. My team just won the HC again. Im sipping vintage armagnac, everyone else is asleep now and all is well with the World.
It really doesn't get any better than this.
Rodders, you have so much class man. Loved our end of game moment together bud. You know what I mean. It was real. I'll not forget what you said.
And... I'm in love with the gal from Wakefield. Total and utter babe. Respect. Stay lucky mo chara.

Anyone else get the feeling that was not really Asbo posting there?
Now, I wonder who it could have been?
I am up at this hour because our dog was sick.
I wonder if there are any of those in London today?

Well, that was some display from the boys in Blue. They have cemented their claim to be the best team in Europe. There have been doubters, those that criticise the reliance on foreign stars, but there is a core of experience in that team who have been there for a few years before the recent high profile signings. The heart of the team is homegrown and vital for the national side, even players that have been in for serious criticism of late. The character they showed to soak up everything the men in white and red could throw at them and then calmly win it with late scores was immense.
Well done Chelsea!

Morning all,
I slipped away from the Orange Tree when the soccer went to extra time - getting home before the crush made sense, especially given the mission involved in getting to the bar (or even getting out of our corner of the bar!). Got woken up at 4.50am by my flatmate hammering on the window - drunk as a skunk and minus house keys.
Glad to hear the missing Gibbo turned up, we were a little worried.

I feel your dogs pain Mrs P. I was ambushed by some form of green shot last night and I feel pretty rotten this morning. Actually scratch that given yesterdays results this could be one of the worst hangovers I've ever had. That Chelsea result was a complete farce btw. Is there a nurofen symbol in this archive? There would need to be. Oh and as a final adiou (is that right?) I have awoken to find several flirtacious messages on my phone from someone called A. Problem is I have no idea who she (or perhaps he) is. Afraid to ask to be honest.

The Doggy Hospital have kept our for a few hours.
Apparently she did the classic "she's much brighter now we gone to all the fuss of getting her an emergency appointment" thing that kids do all the time!
Nearly pulled the vet off her feet when she tried to take her to the "ward"!

Hope the dog is alright MrsP. Congrats to Chelsea too, they rode their luck over the tournament but you have to put the ball in the net when you get a chance and that's what Chelsea did. Feel happy Drogba has got one, he deserves it. But at the same time annoyed Terry has got one.
Also, would any writers mind taking a sconce? Sound.

Everyone is alive and well, just sorting out some breakfast for all. Rev, Aonghus and Danny ended up kipping over. Rav is now being molested by the kids to read them more stories. All is well with the world

Felt really bad about that. Might be making my proper train home now. Big might. The jog to Hammersmith from Hugberts broke me.
Hugbert is the king of blagging. Great job getting us right to the front and right by Leo and D'Arcy. Great day and company thanks all.

Alright folks. Good to meet up with everyone yesterday and glad to hear there are no serious casualties. Can't help thinking it would have been better to go back to the Triple Crown rather than the Orange Tree. Blwdi mental in there

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual HEC Final Rugby Pub, Twickenham
It was very special to meet more of the regs than I have before, having met mainly only the other Irish posters. So that was great. As for the game, eh... we've had better days. It was a hard one to take. I guess we could have kept it tight and tried to play 9-man rugby and got the same beating. We attacked them from the outset and it was a brave effort. We gave it our best effort, but just never played our best rugby. Never replicated the intensity levels we've scaled at our best.
Days like this make sides what they are, players what they are. I'm sure you'll be hearing more from Ulster! I nearly teared up at the end when the spontaneous chorus of Stand Up for the Ulstermen broke out in our end even though we were 28 points down. Thats rugby.

Made the train. Suffering for it though, but at least I get a shower sooner. Looks like Rhys Priestland is on here too, but I wasn't sure if it was him at first.
Might do pints when I get home.

At least you made the train rev! Delays on underground meant I missed mine, and a long argument with the ticket guard and I'm finally getting the next one, no extra charge.
The weekend was brilliant, so glad I got to meet up with even more of the regs on the Friday and Saturday, lovely to meet up.with old and new friends alike

That's a shame Dreamer.
My nightmare came true when I had to sit next to somebody. Didn't want to do that, knowing how much I honk. Never mind. Nearly home for a shower, then I'm going to blow the froth off a few pints.

Feeling a bit better this morning after that mauling yesterday. Just pleased to be second best in Europe at the minute.

Safe home Rava, and best of luck for next season (goes for all the Ulster fans).
And a belated 'well done' to P2 on yesterday's achievement. Ulster's finest!!
Welsh regs - Penfro and I have kinda hatched a plan for 8/9 June. 8th - Meet up on Friday afternoon around 16:30ish. Catch up natter and some drinks and scoff. Off to the Beer Festival.
9th - Watch Aussie v Wales somewhere in Cardiff (ko 10am I think). At about 11:25 I depart to hopefully catch SA v England in London.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual HEC Final Rugby Pub, Twickenham
Morning peeps.
My son's team lost both their matches on Saturday, the first they led 5-0 and then on demand of the parents of the reserves the coach put the 7 reserves on at half time. They went on to concede two tries and lost 5-10.
So the coach got angry and then said he refused to put the reserves on for the second half, the match was 5-5 right until the end, and then in the last minute the opposition scored a try to win by 5.
It was a good day but dissappointing for the boys.
Must say little biltong executed some very decent tackles and his game is progressing very nicely.
Just wish his coach would teach them to pass the damn ball.

Morning all, nice here as well Lucky.
Sorry to here the boy lost Biltong. Coaches eh?
Epic weekend. Crack in the Triple Crown was brilliant before the game. A bit hectic later on when the Champions League was on. Thankfully everyone survived. The Rev did look a bit fragile as he was leaving Asbo's yesterday morning.
Must say a big thanks to Asbo and his family for their unending generosity. Cheers Mate

Urgh. I’m still dying a death here. fell asleep last night at about 7 bells, slept on the couch till 10 and then was ordered into bed, was asleep before my head hit the pillow, it hasn’t helped much. I feel like someone has split me open and replaced my insides with aran jumpers…
To make it worse, I have an interview tomorrow and have to prepare for it today. not ideal.
