That's the one. Don't get me wrong, he is a good young defender, but just totally unknown now he isn't going to Euros. I knew Gourcuff was a punt.

Only good thing is, one of them might be called up if M'Vila can't make it.

Post by Good Golly I'm Olly Fri 01 Jun 2012, 09:14

Ahead of his press conference at Anfield Brendan Rodgers has been speaking to the South Wales Evening Post about swapping Swansea for Liverpool. He said: "In my life and in my football, I have been very happy in Swansea.

"But when an opportunity to work at a club which is more than a club comes round, it's a professional challenge which is too good to turn down.

"Liverpool are one of the dynasties of the game. They have won five European Cups and their status is up there with AC Milan, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich."

Looks like Rodgers will fit in well at Liverpool. Still thinks they are a major force in the footballing world. They are nowhere near Real, Bayern or AC Milan terms of football, and when you don't win your domestic title for gone 20 years I fail to see how you can maintain your status as a big name.

Yeah I have Cahill and De Jong, but I don't think they are starters. I was hoping Kovacic would be called up...but another no.

The big ones for me are Schurrle and Reus up front....but again I am not sure if they are starters.

Cahill will start for England I'm pretty sure. Him and Terry will start CB, after their success at Chelsea this season I think Roy wants a partnership that have played together and know each other a bit

In the interim they have been winning trophies though, including 2 European ones. In terms of status they will always be one of the biggest teams, they have a huge history and it will always be attractive. They just need to sort themselves out!

I've had a brainwave. I'm betting on England at the Euro's.

Morning guys.

Brendan Rodgers will fail at Liverpool is my prediction, he'll then go onto relegation fighting sides, a bit like Roy Hodgson did. I just don't think he's a good fit, but we'll see.

Off out for most of the day, see you all later OK

Such a myth.

It's just that the Champions League has so much more money involved it has devalued the Europa League a bit, but clubs in Europe care a lot more about the Europa League than some English clubs/fans.

I bottled it, Hero. I was thinking "Save for Chiellini". But then I realised I needed an AM so went for him. Besides, my defence isn't that bad.

I don't think he's in the league. Well, he is now.

Huw Jenkins has told talkSPORT Brendan Rodgers can't take any Swansea players to Liverpool for the next 12 months.

Sigurdsson isn''t technically a Swansea player yet, but Allen and Sinclair wouldn't be leaving just yet

Rodgers is a very well spoken man, and seems to have a clear view of what he wants to do at Liverpool. If he is given the time that FSG say they will give him, I think he can turn them back into a force. He must be given the time and that may be 1-2 seasons, and if he is I can see him taking Liverpool back into the top 4 somewhere down the road.

Lewis Grabban moving to AFC Bournemouth from Rotherham for £300k.

Bournemouth should really have a look at the salary cap that exists in League One...
