Euro 2012: Day 8 Thread
First topic message reminder :
Ukraine v France (17:00, ITV 1)
Sweden v England (19:45, BBC 1)
Current Group Standings
Ukraine - 3
England - 1
France - 1
Sweden - 0
Group D for Day 8 of the tournament then. At 5, the co-hosts Ukraine will be looking to notch their second win of the competition by causing a shock against the French but in reality, France are strong favourites and will probably win. Then at 7:45, England will look to build on the foundations they've laid on Monday and get 3 points against a team they haven't beaten competitively in years. For Sweden, 3 points is near essential to them staying in the competition after a narrow defeat on Monday. My predictions:
Ukraine 1-2 France
Sweden 0-2 England
En-ger-land, En-ger-land, En-ger-land...

Duty fever has taken a grip of me, c'mon England!!!
I don't know, we've had a poor record against them in competitive games and didn't look convincing in the last friendly. I expect us to be more open and attacking against them, I'd happily take a 1-0 win though. The current England team need wins rather then putting in great performances as well we ain't on that level. Hopefully after the Euros and with younger players we add style to substance.
Believe VPS, believe!! Tonight we shine.
COME ON ENGLAND 5-0!!!

When the games are on at the same time, I'll probably end up having one on the computer, the other on TV. Haven't missed a match of the Euros yet.
That's dedication!

Re: Euro 2012: Day 8 Thread
I assume the kick off is later in the England game because of the TV deals etc.
I can't tell if Ukraine are playing quite well or France have just been overrated, same with the England game to be honest. Ukraine are certainly holding their own for now.
While people say that home support makes things better, and to a certain extent it does, the Ukraine players seem to get a little nervous because any time there is even a glimpse of an attacking move the crowd goes mental.

Ukraine the better team here for most of it. England would really want to beat Sweden later. Hoping to win the last game v a fired up Ukraine, in front of 50,000 home fans, would be massive pressure.
I can see both games today being draws.

+1 Mysti.
It happens at every comp Ive ever watched. Fancied sides will go out in the group games. Nederland being one. Italy could(less likely) be another.

One change for England and it's expected, Carroll in for the Ox. 4-4-2 I'm guessing with Young on the left and Milner on the right, Come on England, do us proud!

Carroll isn't a favourite of mine, however I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Come on England!

Sweden struggle aerially which is the only reason he's been brought in I think. Rooney in for Carroll next game I expect.

I reckon they could get a trained-monkey to replace Adrian Chiles and people would be more enlightened and entertained.

France 1-0 now, you'd expect them to see the game out now.
Leaves the group as...
France 4
Ukraine 3
England 1
Sweden 1
Really need a win against Sweden to feel better going into the Ukraine game.

2 quick goals and it's, pretty much, all over. An England win will see them level with France but a few goals might be in order to improve our GD.

Why its all banter. You tell everyone you are the best in the world are going to win it like 1966 bla bla and everyone else enjoys watching that arrogance turn into failure.
