Who Will Win?
Ireland vs New Zealand, 3rd Test: Teams & Build Up
First topic message reminder :
Predict the score of the game. We all know how close the Irish came last week, can they deliver a result to stamp themselves into the history books. Could New Zealand kick it up a gear and get there hat trick. Discuss.

That was completely Fergus McFadden's fault.

Do you Irish lads think that the 2nd test may be used as proof that Kidney should stay and that today is an aberration because of the injuries?

Embarassing, our defensive line speed s non existant. You an see the build up t 5th r a pass goes to ground and our defense doesnt come within 5 metres of the NZ player who scrambles to pick it up.It's not good enough from he players or management

Is it a forward pass though? When someone catches an awkward pass and the ball is fumbled in a forward direction but caught, is that not a forward pass then? How would that be different to someone intentionally lobbing the ball and catching it?

Re: Ireland vs New Zealand, 3rd Test: Teams & Build Up
Alright lads and ladies, thats me back to bed, think I will be avoiding RTE for awhile. Couple of final thoughts, healy, SOB, Ryan have been our best players on tour. BOD is finished sadly. We have more questions then ever in midfield, wings, and backrow balance. We have a new lock partnership thats up to task and our scrum has recovered from the decimation of the england game. But Kidney is so out of his depth. Its been a pleasure 606, until the provinces start up again, Connacht for the Heino!

The selections were very poor fly... selecting Wallace and McFadden againts SBW and Gear. It was asking for trouble.
The attitude across the board has been really poor though. We've just been blown away physically.

Even if it isn't all him at this point, as some will say - the air needs to change now around this team. New thoughts on the problem to bring about an overall change in mood (a problem that is even gaping in Europe. I mean no excuses that this is ABs - this is Ireland, the familiar one that plays in Europe too)
Time for coaching change - at this stage it's a "Why not?" issue. Certainly nothing to lose now.
Not defending Kidney, but Ireland are playing the way they played against Wales in the 6N - and totally unlike they played last week. Last week they were in the NZ faces, they didn't let them get their passes away. Tonight they are standing off letttin the ABs get into their rhythm. There is not a lot the coaching team can do about that.

The second test was the aberration. That is Ireland under Kidney's MO. Underwhelming performance after underwhelming performance, then a magnificent performance like England in 2011 Six Nations, Australia in the World Cup, second test against New Zealand. Then back to the dross.

That elbow did not good from Gear on Earls. Think a citing commissioner could have a look at him leading with the elbow.

No,Kidney has consistently got one good performance a year from this team, that's not good enough. You can say he doesn't have the players to do it but someone else should get he chance to try as he's shown no signs that he has anything more to offer.
You just have to look at his handling of the squad this tour.Twice now a single injury has required him to fly someone out as a replacement that's just poor planning and there's no excuse for it.

Big loss is a lot worse. Rog on, let's play for the corners!
KiaRose, that is completely the management's fault. You don't stand off a player unless it's part of your plan.

No this is worse. I'd take a one point loss right now. Not to many positive out there from an Ireland perspective. Healy and Ryan have tried hard but there's too many players who haven't fronted up and have been out of their depth.
Attitude has been very poor and thats the most disappointing thing.

Re: Ireland vs New Zealand, 3rd Test: Teams & Build Up
Romano looks good. A bit more beef on him and a bit more presence. Definitely warrants a start in the 4N. Laurie told me to look out for Cane and I see why he did now. Though the backrow still needs to be looked at. Messam has played well enough though tonight and looks more solid than Thomson.
I'm not saying that's the reality with regard to Kidney. But I imagine it will be the excuse he uses. I guess what I'm saying will his excuse wash or is this the final straw that breaks his back?

Jeebus this tour has been 2 steps forward 5 steps back.
This is the worst performance from an Irish side in living memory.
Credit to the ABs though, they've been awesome but we just haven't turned up at all.

OK I'm stumped!
A forward pass is passing the ball forward to a team mate, you cannot be in front of yourself.
Same as you were able to knee the ball over a players head and if you failed to gather was not classed as knock on as you"kicked it" catch it and it's fine, get it wrong and your screwed.

Scrum wheeled, Murray passes to McFadden to clear the lines, who kicks straight to Gear and the ABs go on the attack again.
Nothing has functioned tonight. Its been so poor.

if the player fumbles the ball but regathers it before it hits the ground or another player it is not forward. The difference betwwen this and deliberately throwing it forward and regathering is the intent. One deliberate the other an accident.

I don't think Keith Ealrs is fully fit. He did not look like he was sprinting at 100% of his capabilities when going back there. Dagg killed him, not a lot of guys can do that, he musn't be fully fit.

That's the most disappointing thing, Rodders. I don't care how good the ABs have been - and they have been very good. Too many Irish players are looking uninterested, and playing as if they are.

In 1992 ABs beat Ireland 59 - 6. I think that record is about to be surpassed.
