Post by Cor Blimey Guvnor Mon 23 May 2011, 14:12

Question - I am having a problem whereby I do not see new posts added to a topic regardless of whatever I do, whether that be F5, click on the latest post icon etc. Even logging off and on again does not change things. However, suddenly it will be updated before "freezing" once again.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

This has been covered a few times - if you look back on this thread you'll see various suggestions.

Usually it is believed to be web proxies and firewalls that cache old copies of pages (in an office environment particularly)

You may have more luck with CTRL-F5 (if you are using internet explorer). This often forces a page reload regardless of caching policies.

Try it and see

Not sure if you can remove it but certainly if you edit the opening post, you can mark the poll as closed.

Post by Pot Hale Tue 07 Jun 2011, 22:42

Hi - wanted to know if I could enlist the help of your forum members with regard to the location of any sport pitches/clubs on island of Ireland. I want to compile a list of these into a directory application that I've developed for use on web/mobile phone.

If your users were willing, I'd like them to be able to pinpoint precisely the location of any sports pitches/clubs that they know about - in their local area or otherwise. It can be done easily using a location code website - http://www.gocode.ie/getyourgocodemain.aspx - which provides a facility to mark places and give them a unique location code to an accuracy of 10 feet apparently. Ideally I'd like them to post on the forum here (or email if they prefer) the name of the pitch (if they know it), address/ townland location and the location code for its entrance.

Would this be allowable? I quite understand if it's not.

Can you resend the email?

Hi, looking for help

I've been posting in the tennis forum today, and all of a sudden I can no longer see the most recent posts after mine. I can see on the tennis homepage that there are new posts, but when I click to view, it takes me to my last post and doesnt show any others.

Anything I'm doing wrong here?

try hitting "Ctrl" and F5 - which gives your page a hard refresh - sometimes work servers cache old pages.

Let us know if it sorts the problem.

BigSal thanks for asking that question as I have that problems sometimes and thank you mods for answering it.

My question is, can you search members on here? I am looking for someone who has joined this site. I want him to join our Fantasy League on here as he was a member with us on that site I won't mention. His name is Tranqil, thank you very much.

There is a tranquility and a tranquil chaos on hre.

If you go to the memberlist tab at the top, you will be able to search.

If you want to search for a member and arent sure of the spelling, you can put what you do know and add a "*" to it:

ie Tranq* brought up the two members I mentioned.

Although, I'd still wait for an admin to confirm that as I am not 100% sure, just wanted to get back to you.

The webpage "www.606v2.com" cannot be found.
DNS error occurred. Server cannot be found. The link may be broken.
Then it suggests I should search the web.
Then says: the page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The website might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

I've not changed any browser settings and its always worked.

DNS stands for domain name server. Basically a DNS converts ip addresses (that computers can read)

A DNS error indicates that a web server could not be found at that domain name. A link might also be dead because of some form of blocking such as content filters or firewalls.

Try rebooting your computer and trying again. Or temporarily turn off your firewall and try that way.

It says its a DNS error, which means your pc is unable to transfer the domain address into a number sequence recognised by computers.
Usually this occurs because of a dead link. Try accessing v2 through google.

If turning off your firewall doesnt work, then you need a DNS programme that will fix URL's that your broadband can not pick up. Google "DNS programme fix" and download a free one. Once installed, you can enter a url (https://www.606v2.com) and it will fix the DNS so that your pc can access the site.

In effect, its a problem with your broadband.
