First topic message reminder :

Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The pub has made its way to "sleepy" Roswell New Mexico, take off point for the first ever supersonic free-fall this week.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Felix Baumgartner and Chris Budgen up on the wall.

There were lots of Munster fans there last year and that was the difference in numbers and atmosphere.

The logistics are a lot easier travelling from the South of Ireland I suppose. Leinster fans want a challenge and didn't see us providing it. Also Clermont is a cauldron of noise and they enjoyed there last year.

MrsP,

I think its logical.

We have a recession in Ireland and multiple trips aren't as popular. Leinster v Clermont is a marquee event and Clermont it is well known as a great place to watch a match.

Last year we were at the Scarlets v Musnter game and there were loads of Munster fans. With Castres (who switched venue close to the time and pished off lots of fans), Saints (who again switched to Milton Keynes) and Scarlets were the choices there was always going to be a lot more going to Llanelli.

Evening all from the train back to London, had a lovely weekend at chez Asbo.

Can any writers take a quick peak at the book review I just posted.

And after 2 rounds of the HEC I have a 100% tipping record on Superbru, 1st place! Yahoo

I'm still a bit put out by not hearing about last night or this meet today. You can't use the excuse of me going away earlier either, as nobody would've known as everybody ignores me.

Can't wait till Safari tomorrow. Going to nick a rhino or elephant for Dragons tighthead slot.

I know you did. To be honest, I only said about Saturday to try and make Cari feel less excluded. That said, I am always the forgotten man otherwise. I doubt you could do any worse than some of our Props

You're a good one mate. I can always rely on your sympathy Wink

Just in my room and some African channel is showing highlights from Australia v NZ yesterday. Not going to get much sleep now. Up in four hours.

Whatever people think of the sponsor on the AB's shirt, that AIG looks dump anyway. What they need is to get in touch with Discount Tyres and get a big yellow dildo on their shirt.

They ended up showing Munster v Edinburgh after the NZ game. Didn't stay up for that. I think it's a South African channel (SuperSports?).

Anyway, safari time. Enjoy your day

Question is, are the RABO teams deliberately letting an AP/T14 team win so that they don't drop out of Europe or whatever?

I'm not bothered, Rava. There's a Welsh 606v2 meet planned for 21st December and I'm sure there'll be a proper pub meet soon enough. Smile

It's probably just me, but I don't share in this whole weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth over the regions doing poorly in Europe. We've always done poorly. Just because the national side's doing well doesn't entitle us to regional success. We can't expect the regional sides to do well of they're not very good, simple as that.

Can I just clear up something about this weekend. The only reason there was no calls made to anyone on Saturday night was because I actually don't like any of ye and the idea of spending a Saturday night with ye repulses me Laugh

Now that that's cleared up we can move on

See, legend.

Anyway, Lucky, it's because the regions don't do too well domestically that we do better internationally. I don't think it's possible with the Regional model to do both with the limited resources at our disposal. The regions loss is the WRU's gain. Whilst we are doing well, I'll live with that.

Agreed, it would be a different matter if the national side was gash too (and to have come away from Australia empty-handed wasn't great).

Actually that's a fair point Glas. I do think the IRFU would prefer our provincial sides doing less well in Europe if we could win another a Grand Slam or two before 2040.

And I think he knows he's pants, Glas. He's a confidence player, but not the kind of confidence player who'll play better just because a coach backs him. He's the kind of player who gets confidence from good personal performances. Throwing him in against the best teams in the world when he knows he's not in top form would be a mistake.

Another question is who'll play scrum half. You'd never have thought Mike Phillips was an international player from his performance on Saturday.
