2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 2
First topic message reminder :
The discussion(s) continue here guys.
Unbelievable win for the Canaries tonight which see's Man City top for the first time this season, will they hold on.
QPR - still without a win - look doomed and Aston Villa drop into the bottom 3.

Perhaps being a bit harsh, but Joe Hart's positioning isn't great for the goal. I know it's taken a deflection, but he's been beaten on his side again from a free kick.

That was my initial thought. It wouldn't surprised me if he did to be honest.

Good to see United, a proper football club, beating the mercenaries at City. It certainly would have been very bad had that game finished a draw with United having a clear goal chalked off that would have put them 3 nil up.
As for the scumbag that hit Rio with the coin, ban him for life. Although it does sum up rather well the generally scummy nature of the City fans today.
Well done United. A victory for football.

Man City fans are quite scummy in my experience. Had a load of grief when I went down the last 2 years. Typically they start when they have rows and rows of security around them.

Looking on Twitter, the 'incident' was actually a minor pitch invasion. City's stewarding not up to scratch.

EDIT: Some City fan has also been arrested for racism as well.

Rio appears to be relaxed about it, he's just tweeted:
"what a result,3points! Sweet! Whoever threw that coin, what a shot! Can't believe it was a copper 2p....could have at least been a £1 coin!"

Wasn't just one idiot either, look at all the coins on the floor around him. FA should make City play their next home game behind closed doors if they can't control their own fans.

Diame getting injured has changed this game. He was dominating that midfield, but as soon as he's gone off I realise Joe Allen/Steven Gerrard are playing

The free kick for West Hams second goal was an awful decision, absolutely nothing wrong with Skrtels header and if a 6ft plus striker can't challenge for a header he needs a new job.
Great win for us and we showed great determination to come back. Sterling needs to learn how to score though as he could have had two at 1-0.

Cant believe Mancini saying they did'nt deserve to lose, should have been three down and if you don't score more than the opposition, then you deserve to lose.

Got to praise fergies tactics, willing to give up possession to isolate city on the flanks, worked a treat.

What a win for Utd today ending city's unbeaten run. Played the counter attacking game perfectly. Carrick and Cleverly were good in midfield, Cleverly energetic and Carrick playing a simple game effectively.
De Gea was outstanding today and is by far and away our no.1 keeper. He's only going to get better with experience in the PL and that's a frightening prospect.
Rooney and RVP up top were sublime and Rooney took both his goals very well.
Valencia, Young, Evra and Rafael (Who's been superb so far this season) decimated the city on the flanks and were superb.
Great win for Liverpool. Nice to see Cole on the score sheet again, always had a soft spot and just hope now he can get a run of games without injury.

Very good performance from united, deserved win too. Got to stop falling asleep/making simple errors though - nearly let city get something from the game by not defending the edge of our box and near post from a corner. simple communication/intelligence error as Valencia was doing that edge of the box role before he went off and his replacement didn't do it.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 2
What really frustrates me is that there has been absolutely no improvement from last year, the same issues that were there last year still exist, except the defence is now nowhere near as solid and the players often seem more interested in keeping possession than scoring.
It was a knee-jerk reaction to sack Dalglish, and Rodgers was a nonsensical appointment.
I worry about next summer, as unlikely to have European football, we could see a mass exodus, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson, Suarez, Sterling could all go.

What was Rodgers doing when we scored? I show more passion on Football Manager! He should have been screaming for the players to give it a go, to pull themselves back.

Dalglish had to go given how much he spent and the little return on it. The game had passed him by.
Rodgers a. wasn't the guy who introduced Swansea's style, Martinez then Sousa did that, and b. has always prioritised possession % over cutting edge.

I don't see Suarez leaving. The only ones I can see going are Sterling (who, let's face it, would jump ship immediately if some team offered him massive amounts of money) and Reina.

I think if Liverpool don't get European football, teams will come in for Suarez, Real Madrid, PSG, Juventus are all sides I think that would consider him.

Always bemuses me when Dalglish takes the rap for the outrageous prices paid for players when it's pretty obvious that it was Damien Comolli who oversaw all incoming transfers. Dalglish may well have identified players but it was the board that signed the cheques. Dalglish was made the scapegoat.
