Wales v NZ
Wales v All Blacks Match thread, Poll, and Previews
First topic message reminder :
So this week saw the fans calls for players unused the week before who are in form this season answered and we lost to Samoa, we also lost more players to injury.
So what next...?
Wales offered little in impetus yet again. Few of the form players made a difference against Samoa. Wales have to make a massive improvement in every aspect of their game for next weeks match vs the ABs but what are your suggestions...???
Wales team:
Leigh Halfpenny; Alex Cuthbert, Jonathan Davies, Jamie Roberts, George North; Rhys Priestland, Mike Phillips; Paul James, Matthew Rees, Aaron Jarvis, Bradley Davies, Luke Charteris, Ryan Jones, Sam Warburton (captain), Toby Faletau
Replacements:
Ken Owens, Gethin Jenkins, Scott Andrews, Aaron Shingler, Justin Tipuric, Tavis Knoyle, James Hook, Scott Williams
New Zealand team:
Israel Dagg, Cory Jane, Conrad Smith, Ma'a Nonu, Julian Savea, Daniel Carter, Aaron Smith, Kieran Read, Richie McCaw, Liam Messam, Sam Whitelock, Luke Romano, Owen Franks, Andrew Hore, Tony Woodcock.
Replacements: Dane Coles, Wyatt Crockett, Charlie Faumuina, Brodie Retallick, Victor Vito, Piri Weepu, Aaron Cruden, Ben Smith.

The second kick to touch out of bounds and Gatland should've pulled Priestland. Why take him off so late in the game? Why indeed play him? I guess injuries didn't help his cause but he is doing his future harm by being out there. These kinds of performances can haunt a player.

Just once in a while Wales do something to remind you they not long ago were a comeptant team, then someone goes and stuffs it up right after

Struggling in the scrum with a lightweight flanker in the second row. Knoyle is so slow in body and thought

Davies has dropped some tackles, but he has played well in attack. We have missed him so much.

Just want to note... Wales and NZ are now 10 - 10 for the 2nd half.
You know Gatland will manipulate this to make a case for a good performance!!

Good try, simple stuff, don't know if it's Hook's influence that we're playing alright now but it is good to see.

Cuthberts in!
Good spirit from Wales.
If only they had taken the goal kicks early on, and had got some of the refs decisions it would have been a closer game (though NZ would have won anyway)

Been quite impressed with Liam Williams today. I was calling for him at 15 and Halfpenny at wing, but he's done well. not been great at chasing the high ball, but has been good at aggressive tackles and has linked well for that try.

Use it and almost given another 5 seconds. Wales need to clear that ball away quicker. Good try though using the numbers out wide. Shame it's come too late as it could've been much closer if Wales had played with this continuity from the start.

Well done ABs. Last 15 was fun, but I think the ABs knew it was over and probably took their foot off the gas.
The first half was where it was won, and lost from a welsh point of view. They used the ball well, we're more physical, etc. We weren't good at handling, taking chances, poor decisions, etc.
Well done NZ.

Well done Wales for taking something positive out of this game. Typical from NZ this year. Played well in patches and put on enough points to make it count. But Wales controlled much more possession in the second half and looked sharp on attack. NZ ball retention went away in the second half and in a way it's good for the England game that they come away from this game thinking they looked average. Shame Wales couldn't come out and start like they ended.

Re: Wales v All Blacks Match thread, Poll, and Previews
NZ's replacements didn't get into the game at all and wales got on top, but lets not fool ourselves we were never in contention!!!
This was a performance of true bunk ala the last 2 weeks, the fact they were allowed to play open because they had all but given up on the game.
Absolute tripe, very little to take out of that performance in the way of positives!!!

Disappointing performance overall but some good performances from JD2, Liam Williams, Scott Williams and Halfpenny, Knoyle and Preistland were very poor. The assault on Bradley Davies effectly won the game before it started.

Well done kiwis..!!!
Wales had a bit of dog about them which warned the cockles a bit. Without the entire subs bench being used we would have had a bit more of a game.
Such a shame about the opening two minutes

Give it a break you are like a broken record ................ 1/2p takes the kicks and makes the decisions whether to go for goal, the unwrtten rule is the kicker i.e. 1/2p makes the decision to kick
Perhaps you should be looking at the non existant defending of Cuthbert and Faletau, and the dire defence for both tries
Is this another one of your fairy land unwritten rules? You know the place where the back-row is called the back 3? I thought the captain made those decisions anyway, but it was obviously Gatlands intent for them to get tries on the board so I suppose he instructed them to do so before the game.
Despite him trying to convince us otherwise, he is a Scarlets sympathiser. 1/2p being blamed for not asking to kick for goal is a new low for a Scarlet fan trying to justify Priestland's poor performance. Even I could kick a peno to touch.
Dont attempt to say something I am not (Scarlet sympathiser) .........
I am not blaming 1/2p at all (when did I say that)........... I am just stating that two non kicks at goal is not blamed at one guy (Priestland) alone, the Welsh direction was clear.......... the coach, captain and main goal kicker makes the decision whether to kick for goarl or not
Come on mate, it's even quoted for you above. You said Halfpenny makes the decision, which is not true. He simply recommends whether he can make it, but it's the skipper's decision. That is basics. You know you lean towards the Scarlets too, despite the fact you're Scottish.

I was commentating on wales606 trying to say that RP turned down those kicks........... sorry it wasnt his decision and its below the belt to run a player down for something he has no conytrol over and then of course this Morgannwg chap makes yet another inflamatory remark from another previous thread" and then states as per usual I am "always wrong"......... this is a forum site which are posters opinions not facts (right or wrong). Its getting boring when a poster tries to inflame the situ every time
I am not biased towards the Scarlets, I think Hook should have started and I have said that on previous posts, I also think Ryan Jones should have played 8, and Bradley Davies should have started with Charteris. It was just amazing when you saw so many defensive errors and missed or even worse non tackles that all poster could comment on was Prieslands misfiring kicks

Halfpenny is poor in the air and wasted at 15. He's a very talented lad and useful anywhere in the backs but he is AN INTERNATIONAL WING.

There is some stick regarding not taking kicks at goal but if we hit touch Wales could well have started on the front foot but when you have a plank at 10 the decision is wrong.

Where did I state that? I said that when you're wrong you can't admit it. You are still adamant the back row is called the back three and that the kicker makes the decisions on whether to punt or kick for goal. You are wrong on both. And you are Scarlet biased despite being Scottish. I look forward to another one of your outbursts which will surely boil over soon.

I'm just trying to work out how many unforced errors could have been points scoring opportunities?
There were an awful lot.
If Priestland and Phillips hadn't played I think the game would have been 20-15 to New Zealand.

What a mindset from Adam Jones...
We don't get to play with the intensity of the Super 15 and play more of a 10 man game!!
Just admit we are lesser why don't you???!!!
