Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The pub has made its way to Dubai, host city for the upcoming round of the IRB Rugby World 7s.

Visitors are reminded to dress sensibly and carry their working-'holiday' permit with them at all times and if possible; engage in their sinful drinking habits within the smoky confines of the underground "English Pub". We have more big screens than you could ever dream of...

If you need to go for a swim at the beach - application forms for towels and umbrellas are available at the bar.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Ricky Ponting, Bradley Davies, Andrew Hore and Craig Gilroy above the bar.

Absolutely perishing cold here. Bl**dy gas pipe freezing syndrome has kicked in for the first (but not the last) time this winter. I received some very crafty gizmos that go on over your shoes/boots in the post today, sort of sub-crampons, so I wore them out this afternoon - and they work! The FC timber roads are rock hard and icy in places, but not a slip. Happy days.

Well I actually go for the bus at half six Swanny - it leaves about five to seven (if it's on time! ). I live a mile from the bus stop, but I always walk it - except the one evening last week when it was lashing down and I caught the 61 home...

They probably remember the hype in some of the more 'sensationalist' English papers during the 6N. Plus Inverdull was making comparisons with Wilkinson at the time.


Most England fans don't rate him. Even Sarries fans prefer to see Hodgson start at 10 for them - I think the stats show Sarries score 3x as many tries when Hodgson starts.

I'm having a great week. I was in work Monday, then Tuesday to Thursday I had a First Aid at Work course, and because there were only four of us on the course, we ended up finishing at about half one every day instead of 4 as we were supposed to do. I've got today booked off as it's my birthday (I've left a big sack at reception, you can put my presents in there for me to collect later) and we've having a big family sit-down curry this evening, followed by a pub quiz at the Lyceum Tavern. I am happy with that result!

And I've got next Monday booked off, too!
