Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The pub has made its way to Dubai, host city for the upcoming round of the IRB Rugby World 7s.

Visitors are reminded to dress sensibly and carry their working-'holiday' permit with them at all times and if possible; engage in their sinful drinking habits within the smoky confines of the underground "English Pub". We have more big screens than you could ever dream of...

If you need to go for a swim at the beach - application forms for towels and umbrellas are available at the bar.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Ricky Ponting, Bradley Davies, Andrew Hore and Craig Gilroy above the bar.

Glas –I would say Gatland’s pack merely reflects he injuries to the squad’s ‘heavyweights’. How many TH’s does that leave the O’s? I suspect they’ll be raiding the likes of Tonmawr and Kenfig Hill before long

Afternoon pub, and I must say that people have Dubai all wrong. PJ –the shopping malls and hotels there are more ‘Christmassy’ than anything here. Money speaks in the Emirates mate.

It would have been my 10 th year on the bounce at the Dubai 7s if our leave for October through to January hadn’t been scuppered by the introductoon of this new system and the extensive training beforehand. It has now been put back to ‘some time early next year’ –needless to say lots of people here are well hacked off at having their winter holidays turned down.

The irony is I am off next week as I need a break; I’ve not had a full week off since Dubai last year.

The O's have just taken Cai Griffiths back on loan from us I think.

Hope everyone's well. I can relax a bit, as I have tomorrow off and then two short weeks. My gift for the work's Secret Santa arrived today too. The rules were spend no more than a fiver and it had to be something silly they can wear to the work's Xmas do. I got this bloke an '80s mullet wig. It's class and only cost me four squid odd. I'm not going to this pish up, but will be having Xmas dinner in work. Yum!

Just been to the petrol station and forgot my gloves. My hand near froze to the bloomin' pump!

Yeah it's freezing all right. I don't mind the cold though. I find it easier to keep warm than cool. Waiting for buses isn't fun in the cold though...

I don't mind it either, just when I forget my gloves! My circulation is rubbish and I lose all feeling in my hands very quickly!

'Twas utterly beautiful driving to work this morning as the sun was coming up. A heavy frost, mist over the fields, and the full moon clearly visible just above the horizon. Completely gorgeous. Wish I'd had time to stop and take some photos but I was already running late having had to defrost my car!
