Who should be official v2 GAA mod?
Mod Election Poll
I'll be leaving the presidential election until May when the other place closes down and our Gaelic brothers (and sisters) move in. But since its a wee bit quiet on here I thought we could just hold the moderator poll.
The official GAA moderator election, brought to you by, the dole que, and sponsored by, the welfare state- "that dream job always seems that bit further away when on british benifits!"
Now we want a nice clean campaign, yes ye can vote for yersel, no funny business in the ruck and make sure you bind properly in the scrum, and no eye gougin! The poll will last for 10 days. Let battle commence!
*In the interst of democratic viability please abstain from voting unless you are actually a regular on the "irish sports" board.*

Re: Mod Election Poll
If you're not on the poll and you want to run for office then put you're name down and i'll try and fit you in.
As for me, almost anything will go, just as long as it's not OTT/ abuse or something the admins will be giving us into trouble for. On the whole though I'll rarely blow my whistle and I'll allow the game to flow as much as possible.

Sure why not, we need someone to make sure there's no funny business going on at the breakdown.
Man, this thread has attracted some unexpected attention. In the interst of democratic viability please abstain from voting unless you are actually a regular on the "irish sports" board.
Liam, this is the most popular sport governed by the GAA- Gaelic Football (don't mind the man u song)

Don't worry sportydan, I'm sure redtop will be happier with his part than you are with FF.
Unfortunately since I can't edit the poll I'll need to do this the old fashioned way- we have a new candidate,
Irish Addick- the Royalty Forever in Beautiful Meath with Free Beer For All
If any regulars want to vote for IA send in a comment saying so and it'll be counted.

Cheers Y I Man. Thats what an independent adjudicator is for eh.
Much appreciated if you could update the poll if new candidates come forward. Irish Addick should be joining us on v2 shortly.

Re: Mod Election Poll
I want to make it clear from the outset that I have absolutely zero intention of winning this election. My sole purpose will be to ruin it for everyone else....However......We have achieved our independence as a 32 county (34 including London and NY). We shall not forget our brothers and sisters exiled in a foreign land.
with that in mind. We have our Celtic bretheren. still under the cruel hand of the oppressor. There was only one Prince of Wales and Llewllyn was his name.
Vote Cari. Vote early, vote often.
As the SF representative, I feel that the aims and objectives of the party sit comfortably with the status quo of this forum. The GAA is a 32 county organisation and our independence as a forum on this board has been established and safeguarded by YI Man who, has agreed to oversee the fair contesting of this election.
GW in true socialist fashion (revolutionary working mans party) his the biggest bedroom and the double bed. with plasma screens, walk in wardrobe and a hot tub.
working mans party indeed...
I note the ex president Hartley has been excluded from the voting process. I view this as a direct attack on the handi-capable. Under my leadership there will be no distinction drawn between the peoples of this island....whatever their disability. Be they blind, crippled or from Kerry.
My final point in this opening salvo is that this election campaign is that as honest as we know the returning officer Mr Y I Man to be, we are contesting this election on a first past the post basis.
I do not recall there being any consultation period with the proletariat on exactly the manner in which this election will be contested. It is this kind of unilateral decision making that has crippled our country.
It is quite clear that IA, an otherwise excellent candidate, has adopted a partisan stance towards his election campaign. If you want favouritism towards one county, you need look no further than IA.

Re: Mod Election Poll
"No distinction drawn between the peoples of this island", that means then RB, that you'd like to have candidates standing who have yet to state their intention of v2 citizenship. Hartley hasn't been included as he hasn't emigrated yet or requested to stand as a candidate, unlike IA who promised to join in his manifesto. If ex president hartley wishes to stand then he will be welcome to do so and added to the poll.
On the first past the post issue, those who safeguard our independence have not provided the facilities to use a different electoral system. Therefore any consultation with the proletariat on the manner on which the election is contested would not only be a waste of time but a prime example of the indecisiveness, unnecessary red tape and general fannying about that has crippled our country.
On the point of the revolutionary (unemployed) working man in the big room, if memory serves me correct you had also stated your intention of moving in there, but since I arrived first I had already claimed it. Am I to understand that you, Rebelbhoy TD, are an even bigger socialist than myself regarding the taking of the big room?
Nice to see you haven't forgotten my own situation and your policies are at least in favour of my liberation.
Vote for the revolutianary working-men's party!

as you well know, citizenship is not something that has to be claimed. It is something that should be extended to all those eligable. Poor Hatley has been left out because of his handi-capability.
i am not one for smearing anothers campaign but it is exactly this reason that you should all lend your vote to Cari.

Your memory serves you well. You cited your longevity on this forum as a reason for getting the big room. I acquiesced to this request despite the figures not adding up. This shows two things;
A) A vote for GW is a vote for corrupt and/or incompetence
2)GW will tell you lies in order to protect his status in the big room
iii) GW cannot count.
There is a big room, and there is quite clearly has an elephant in it. And that is the outright hypocrisy of GW.

What an excellent idea.
people are obviously voting for GW without having read this thread. It is the only logical explanation.

Re: Mod Election Poll
I have just been visiting the constituents on 606 and there has been a concern raised about the behaviour of one of the candidates.
IA has part of his election pledge to join v2. I, along with any right thinking person, can only read this as him holding us to ransom. I know the good posters of this bailiwick will not succumb to emotional blackmail of this....this.....emotional terrorist.
PLUS..... for those of you who are infrequent visitors to 606, this place is a veritable goldmine for information on the candidates. Cari can't post at the moment as she is running a scor event in neath. for St Lllllllango's Emmetts GLC, so I will post this on her behalf. GA has been over there telling everyone who will listen that he has this election sewn up as all you "simpletons" will vote for him. I have more faith in you all than that.

For further information on the candidates, look at their profile pages:

Favourite Player:
Eli Manning, Ahmad Bradshaw, Lawrence Taylor, I hate all GAA players
Team/Sports Followed: New York Football Giants, NYY Baseball, Rugby, that is it. nothing more than that...let me think for a second......nope. That is it.
Interests:
anything that doesn't involve the bloody GAA.
All about Cari
Favourite Player:
setanta o'hailpin, christy ring, johnny doyle, brian corcoran, peter 'the great' canavan, maurice fitz, young diarmuid Finneran (he never played county level as he had to emigrate when he was a young fella back in 1956 but he was some man for the club under the high ball)
Team/Sports Followed: GAA. I'd watch the odd bit of basketball to see what Liam McHale and the Star see in it. A spot of rugby because Tomas O'Leary plays it. He was some hurler. Aussie rules, just to see how Setanta O'Hailpin and Tadgh kennelly et al are getting on. I watch what I can when I am not togging out with St Llllllllango's Emmetts Camogs or training the U-8's, u-14's and minors. The club is a dual club. We are junior C level at the minute but we aim to be senior within 5 years. Up the parish!!!
Interests:
Apart from the GAA, I enjoy a spot of ceilidh dancing.
Interesting reading I am sure you'll agree

Re: Mod Election Poll
There shouldn't be any need to cancel votes YI Man. That'll give RB the ability to obstruct the democratic process of this election. And after saying that RB you then clearly contradict yourself with the comments you made in the other place-
"Over on that phony election on 606v2 I have been claiming expenses that I am not entitled to. I trust none of you will disclose that over there."
"i think the best person to be mod would be IA or GW. I wouldn't trust myself as i get madder and madder as the summer progresses"
"I will keep voting for you as soon as i figure out how to rig this sham!!"
*cries of OUTRAGOUS! and HYPOCRITE! are heard as the v2 dail becomes an uproar*
Proof enough that RB has launched a smear campaign against the revolutionary workers party, and has been overheard saying the opposite to his claims in private! And he fiddled with his expenses!! And all this rubbish about caring for the handi-capped. Hartley has not expressed his interntion to run for office or become a citizen, what if he dosen't want to? By just adding him to the poll without consulting him first is direct discrimination against the handi-capped by forcing them into cetain career paths. RebelBhoy pretends to care for the handi-capped when in his address he says "Poor Hatley". He cannot even spell the said person in question's name correctly- proof as to RB's party's true concern for the handi-capped!
As far as our profile pages go, I've got a good mind to sue Rebelbhoy TD for slander. RB hasn't written much in his profile...wonder why? I think we may need that vote cancelling option after all YI Man, there's going to be a lot of angry constituents wanting to change their vote to the glorious revolutionary working-man's party after RB's unparliamentary behaviour.
Voting for GW is a vote for corruption eh.....indeed!

I deliberately left the R our to illustrate that you do not know your R's from your elbow.
I will not stand for these scurrilous accusations. Indeed, to illustrate the regard within which GW holds you, the electorate, i offer the following quote;
"The GAA bit is currently called "Irish sports" and is stuck in the "other sports" bit. I'm not really bothered which one we all go to"
to reiterate
"I'm not really bothered which one we all go to"......
that, good people of this website is a clear illustration of the regard within which GW holds you. He does not care where you go.
Meanwhile, Cari has been tirelessly promoting this site to all the boards on 606.
Cari promotes the use of the word handi-capable. Not this archaic, old fashioned, antiquated language from GW.
As for the scurrilous accusations against me, I can only say that there are none of us without sin.
It has been a learning experience for me. wrong has been done on all sides. I am not so naive as to ask the electorate to support me, with my chequered history. which is why I ask you to votail Cari.
Early and often.
Interesting that you don't want the electorate to have an informed choice of candidate...... <shakeyhead emoticon>

If I didn't know my R's from my elbow I wouldn't be able to point out your error in the first place.
Votail, hmmm, thats a new one. My language may be "antiquated" but at least the electorate can understand it. Perhaps it is you who is yet to know your R's from your elbow? As for the more scandalous selective quoting done by RB I shall point out to the good people of this website the true context of what I actually said-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A83430047
As we can see, by reading the article in question, the point about me being "not really bothered which one we go to" is about a completely diiferent issue (i.e. where we should set up our new home after the closure of the other place).
"Interesting that you don't want the electorate to have an informed choice of candidate...... <shakeyhead emoticon>"
Yes this is a pity RB, your slanderous campaign is no doubt an attempt to cloud the facts, but the good people of this website are too intellegent to swallow any of it. Anyway don't forget to "votail" as its apparenty known as to some of us.

These people won't buy your slurs. They are too well educated and handsome/pretty to be taken in by your efforts.
4 votes....pffft.
Getting your family to sign up and vote is the most underhanded tactic yet from an underhanded candidate.

Re: Mod Election Poll
Look at sd being all magnanimous.
How can anyone compete with that kind of charm offensive.
i would vote for you all.
it is a good idea to put that change vote thing in until polling day.

i would suggest that aggression from a mod is not a good quality.

Rule nothing out...rule nothing in.
You are still in with a shout.
IA is only 4 votes back and he hasn't done any electioneering.
We need to have the change our mind button enabled. I have just heard there are few rumours flyin around twitter...which if verified could change all our minds on whom to lend our votes to.

Due to popular demand could you do the honours YI Man and add Hartley XP to the poll.

I would suggest aggression from a mod is a good quality in moderation. It may be necessary in defending our independence.
Well, I've learned a new Irish word then, your link says it means "poll" though. Are you not using it in the wrong context?

Re: Mod Election Poll
In the interests of cross community dialogue, would it be possible for one to run as an abstentionist Unionist candidate?
My manifesto would be to refuse to take the position of moderator if elected as I do not recognise the soverignty of the GAA over the Pale and refuse to swear an oath to Pat Spillane and his sucessors according to law.

no boss, it's all good.
Dav, I would have you in this poll in a second if I could make it happen. I am sure Cari would too......if she were made mod.

Re: Mod Election Poll
Topics I would like to debate.
1) Treatment of WUMS
B) use of offensive language
iii) Live score threads. the saturday and sunday, one for saturdays, one for sundays, one for post match analysis/reaction.
iv) County bias
five) insulting each other.
Thoughts from the candidates?

It is part of his election pledge to join when he wins.....
Poor electioneering if you ask me.
How do you feel about changing your mind on a vote SD?

Re: Mod Election Poll
I think IA will join when the other place is actually axed since nobody's actually voted for him yet. As long as it dosen't go OTT and personal I'm all for county bias, sweary words (the admins might not approve tho) and insults. All just some championship craic.

Re: Mod Election Poll
and for the wums?
My tactic has always been to find out where they are from and give them a run down on their local club.
