Mod Election Poll - Page 2 Empty Mod Election Poll

Post by Gaelic-Warrior Sat 23 Apr 2011, 9:56 pm

First topic message reminder :

I'll be leaving the presidential election until May when the other place closes down and our Gaelic brothers (and sisters) move in. But since its a wee bit quiet on here I thought we could just hold the moderator poll.

The official GAA moderator election, brought to you by, the dole que, and sponsored by, the welfare state- "that dream job always seems that bit further away when on british benifits!"

Now we want a nice clean campaign, yes ye can vote for yersel, no funny business in the ruck and make sure you bind properly in the scrum, and no eye gougin! The poll will last for 10 days. Let battle commence!

*In the interst of democratic viability please abstain from voting unless you are actually a regular on the "irish sports" board.*

Nobody's gonnae buy that. "Vote often"- that's not democratic, you only get one vote. We've already received a complaint.

Ok kids, I am back. The reticent voters still seem to be a little undecided and less than forthcoming than they have been.

Still no option to amend the vote. a motion that was passed by an overwhelming 66.6% but ho hum.

Cari has been working hard behind the scenes, taking in the New York Vs Roscommon Championship game in Gaelic Park during part of a good-will mission taking out sliotars and camans to the street kids of Brooklyn, Hells kitchen, Queens and the Bronx. But she is back now, ready to take this election by storm.

I sure was in Scotlandshire.

No GAA on sunday but I was chatting with a lad who played hurling with de la salle in Waaaaaaaaaaterford.

On returning home I visited the O'Neills shop in Strabane where I purchased a Cork raincoat thing for £10....a bargain at thrice the price

With your username RB, I'd think coup d'etat's were more your dept.
Should we let a unionist in? If we do I think he should follow the usual laws of citizenship- he must 1) be bearded and 2) have a county to support so we can bully him when his team is knocked out

Speaking of which RB, I was browsing not606 when I was bored and I came accross your profile in the GAA section. There's some asshole on it calling you for whit on the visitor message bit.

No votes coming in at the moment.

I had another skip through not606 again just out of interest after the attack on Lenny at tynecastle. Some of the stuff on there (the ragers bit in particular) is bang out of order. Its more or less the same kind of cr@p I'm hearing from a lot of rangers fans near me. That's why I don't bother much with not606, it seems to have a lot of morons on it with not much decent debate. I never paid much attention before, but, I hope the hoops win the SPL just to shut them up. Some people's reaction to what's happened to him is a disgrace.

More votes being cast, gonnae be a close yin- a plaid cymru/sinn fein coalition in the works perhaps? Seems like old fashioned hard-line socialism has lost its appeal, the RWMP will have to restructure for the uachtarain election, even the party leader voted plaid.

Well thats the SPL done, and, as usual here the rubber men are out on the street and the local boozer has turned into a union flag. Hopefully celtic can lift the scottish cup, it'd be good if neil lennon can win something after everything he's had to put up with this season.

If we had an AV system, they would all be transferred to Cari.

I had all my grieving gone about the soccerball before a ball was even kicked today. i was still grumpy

I just hope everyone gets home safe and sound this evening. Everyone loves a noise up but as long as it is that and no more.

In all honesty, the start of the sunday game today helped me get out of a funk after the game. The match was atrocious but it clearly delineated the gaa and soccer seasons for me. I am mentally in GAA mode now (although I am emotionally always in Celtic mode too)

Next weekend is a big one.

Scottish cup
Groves v degale
Nathan Cleverley v Braehmer
the final soccer day in Englandshire

Well it is a UK website. The British can't appreciate the greatness of Ireland's electoral system.

RebelBhoy wrote:Everyone loves a noise up but as long as it is that and no more.

Aye, appart from some of their usual songs and a few loyalist banners that's what it was. The end of the SPL season and the start of MLB and proper GAA is a real breath of fresh air. The local morons are less visible, some great sport on the telly (and RTE player) and all coinciding with my favourite season of the year (considering the weather isn't as bad as it is right now). Expected a better game and crowd in ballybo, will be intereting to see how the jackeen hurlers get on this year too.

My next weekend of sport-
GAA Coverage (radio and/or RTE highlights)
The Yankees have a big 3 game subway series in the Bronx against the NY Mets (cross-city rivals) starting Friday night
Celtic game (if I've got time)

Looking forward to the final day of ruggerball in englandshire and Ireland in a fortnight, don't know why Munster V Leinster has been scheduled for Thomond when it can fill the new Lansdowne (I absolutely refuse to call it the aviva).

G-War - nobody calls it the Aviva...it's always New Lansdowne or Lansdowne.

I'm going to the Heineken Cup this weekend. Meeting up with a load of 606ers. Should be some craic. Then Sunday I'll try and pick up some GAA.

I reckon my vote will be hindered by Liz's visit and all the bad publicity around it.

The unique thing about this election is nobody wants to win it, there's been backstabbin, dirty tricks galore and we've got at least two candidate's who haven't even joined to do any campaigning.

Sorry for the confusion over the poll! We only thought it was a joke as none of the admin were consulted initially and its been running for months!

As for getting a mod in here - not sure it really needs one at the moment. Quite a few sections dont really justify the need at this moment in time but the leading candidates in this poll are certainly at the top of our list for future modship.

If anything needs looking at, there are a few global mods (pr4wn and fernando) who can help out as well as the admin team - just let us know.

Any questions regarding it, please let me know.

Sorry Lads (and Lass) and Hobo. I was going to consult the admins once we had a winner, but I think the original time limit I put on it was changed (I only wanted it to run for 10 days). Besides, it seemed like nobody wants the Job anyway. We've also got two candidates who haven't even done any campaigning. If there needs to be a winner then since Cari is in the lead I nominate her for the job of GAA Moderator, Uchtarain of the v2 GAA republic and defender of the people.

BTW RB, I think we've done well better than the belgians.

I TOLD YOU ALL THIS ELECTION WAS A SHAM!!

It was a joke and we don't really need one and nobody really wants to do it either.....but as a ceremonial position, like 'honorary mod' it would be nice.

(we are well behaved really and don't need modding). Can we curse even a small bit. even if there is a goal in a game that we really care about?
