Italy v France - Nigel Owens (WRU)
Scotland v Italy - Jaco Peyper (SARU)
France v Wales - George Clancy (IRFU)
Ireland v England - Jérôme Garces (FFR)
Italy v Wales - Romain Poite (FFR)
England v France - Craig Joubert (SARU)
Scotland v Ireland - Wayne Barnes (RFU)
Scotland v Wales - Craig Joubert (SARU)
Ireland v France - Steve Walsh (ARU)
England v Italy - George Clancy (IRFU)
Italy v Ireland - Wayne Barnes (RFU)
Wales v England - Steve Walsh (ARU)

Anyway's here's the link to the 6 Nations schedule with all the refs, touch judges & TMO's appointed http://www.irb.com/mm/document/newsmedia/mediazone/02/06/47/79/121210toc6nations2013appointmentskb.pdf

Yeah think that's normal, seem to remember Steve Walsh doing a few over the years.
He caught the ball during Scotland - Italy 2011, which is more then could be said for some of our backs...

Guess they have to for impartiality and ref experience at a guess. Joubert is alright and not too one-eyed unless its a NH vs SH match (so should be alright!), and Steve Walsh is pretty good.

From a scottish perspective thats a good draw. Wouldve had Seteve Walsh ahead of Barnes, as imo Walsh is one of the best refs around now after his fall from grace and subsequent rise. If someone had said to me 5 years ago that id prefer walsh, i wouldve spat my cofee out.

It seems England always seem to get Steve Walsh.
In every tournament England seem to have him reffing atleast 1 game.

Re: 6 Nations Refs announced
Not happy about getting Joubert, but he might actually be 'neutral' seeing as NZ and Aus are not playing. Poite and Clancy both have annoying flaws but I suppose they're good enough. Walsh and Owens are the best IMO.

Re: 6 Nations Refs announced
I'm not sure England have ever won a game with Walsh in charge or even on the touchline.....
Last season he let Warburton get away with that try saving tackle on Tuilagi even though he was obviously two yards off side whilst desparately trying but failing to get on side. Ancient history now but Walsh never does England any favours.

Munster & Ireland IMO...........remember the phantom "knock on" he called from touch judge on Ireland when we were level with the AB's in the summer...................cost us the draw and maybe the win.....................i never subscribe to thinking any ref being prejudiced......except Poite............

Re: 6 Nations Refs announced
Glad Ireland only have one SH ref because we seem to have got our fair share over the last few seasons and it has been quite farcical how no one on either team seemed to have a clue what was going on at the breakdown, scrum etc.
Hopefully, the refereeing will be a little bit more predictable and consistant this year and the annual Ireland v Wales match wont be decided by terrible officiating once again.
Jonathan Kaplan 2011 - Philips try that wasnt
Wayne Barnes 2012 - Bradley Davies leniency and Stephen Ferris harsh yellow.
Mind you Roman Poite doesnt offer too much hope for the 2013 fixture. Expect the scrums to be a free for all.

Re: 6 Nations Refs announced
Scotland's chances in the Calcutta Cup are much improved - not that Rolland is a bad ref or biased against England (other than when we play France), but we just seem to play poorly when he's in charge. Whether it's that we don't adjust well to his style or what I don't know, but I always dread the matches when he's got the whistle*
* Admittedly, probably less than the Welsh after the Warburton sending off in the RWC, but still...

Re: 6 Nations Refs announced
Is it me or are all those refs a little ropy and predictable in thier tendancies (except when it's really important then it's a free for all)
The only ref I think is consistent enough of them lot is Owens, and thats only because I can watch him and not get emotional with his decisions!!
Not too happy with Poite reffing us twice against 2 teams that can create a result (or avoid one) from a scrum, and Walsh Vs England should be a bit of a brutathon!!!
I REALLY HOPE MAITLAND DOESN'T QUALIFY FOR SCOTLAND WITH JOUBERT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PARK!!!!

Lets hope so. I couldn't handle another load of Irish ref bashing, as the sole reason why Wales have beaten you the last three times (and apparently you Irish never partake in criticising refs). Why don't you guys grumble so much about the blatant BOD knock on, before three of Ireland's points in 2011? A fair score is still a Welsh win (12-10). That was all Kaplan's doing too.

Wayne Barnes didn't see the incident. Dave Pearson did and he recommended a yellow card. If you must blame an official, at least blame the right one.

Yes, Barnes was the one who was lenient to Ferris regarding his spear tackle of Ian Evans.

Re: 6 Nations Refs announced
I genuinely don't think any of the referees are biased. Some make poor decisions sometimes, and pure chance will make it so that sometimes that means one ref has made two or three poor decisions against one team. That doesn't mean they are biased, that is a result of chance.
Some are not as good as others, but that applies to both teams.
Some ref in a different "style" and then it is down to the teams to play in a way that suits that style. "Play to the referee" was said even when I started playing in the early 90s.
