The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Amaile
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to Amaile on the eastern-most tip of Upolu Island in Samoa - the first place on Earth to usher in the New Year.
So hop on a hammock and let one of the locals pour a kava down your throat as you are trying to read Tusiata Avia's famous poem: "Wild Dogs Under My Skirt" to the sounds of the Yandell Sister's "Sweet Inspiration" blaring in the background.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of George Pisi, Census Johnston, Paul Williams, Tony Greig, Christopher Martin Jenkins, Mike Nicholls, Babsy and Jeremy Su'a above the bar.

Only if Gibbo's in
I'm seriously grumpy with timing this month, having a mate in town from Canada means I can't make the Chiefs vs Leinster game mutter mutter mutter
I thought Rava said that Asbo has a couple of spare tickets. Why don't you bring your mate along?
Evening all
Getting back to Heathrow Sunday morning would be tricky. I'm going to see if my mate (and my flatmate) mind me abandoning them Saturday.
Morning all.
I don't know if many of you have been following the Greatest-sportsman-of-all-time thread https://www.606v2.com/t38994p50-v2-greatest-of-all-time-awards#1762836 but we're still after a few people to write up spiels for some of the rugby players short-listed - volunteer on the thread if you're keen. (at the moment I'm down to write spiels for Martin Johnson, Sachin Tendulkar and Richie McCaw)

Good to have you pop in Munster.
Just having a pump up before a possible game tomorrow (selection issues). I'll be watching the rugby this evening then.

Hiya Munsty. Afternoon all.
There was a Rugby Special 'Weakest Link' on this afternoon. The contestants were Phil Vickery, Josh Lewsey, Andy Powell, Nick Evans, Justin Marshall, Thomas Castaignede, Paul Wallace, Lee Mears and Jamie Roberts.
Most of the questions were ridiculously easy, but that didn't prevent Andy Powell being voted off first. Roberts beat Mears in the last round, and the lads raised £16,900 for charity.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Amaile
A mate of a mate died of cancer yesterday. I knew him fairly well having been on three or four rugby trips with him. I hadn't seen him for years and didnt know he'd been ill for 9 months. He was the same age as me and I had a fling with his sister in the Eisteddfod in Bala. He was a farmer's son but allergic to cows. I used to think that made him one of the unluckiest blokes I knew, but this puts everything into perspective. The Scarlets are a fan down tonight.

Aye.
At times like this it's time to tip a wink to the Godess of Hedonism and decide to make the most of things.
As such I'm having raspberries and cream with dark chocolate and a fine Rioja.

I think the Goddess of Hedonism will be supporting Ulster. MrsP has a season ticket, doesn't she?

Bad news on your friend Glas.
Both Ulster and Scarlets look to have fairly strong teams out ahead of next weekend's HC games.

Rev - the best answer came from Lee Mears. Remember, I said a lot of the questions were ridiculously easy.
Q. What fraction can go after 'scrum' and 'fly' to make two positions in a rugby team?
A. 8.
There were absolute howlers from most of them though.

Hmm
I have no idea how it will go. I'm not confident, but Ulster front five look weaker than usual. We have a pants front five as per though.

I would have thought that Adriaanse might give you a bit more oomph up front.

Not looking good for North - one commentator here said something about a cheekbone, but it doesn't look like that on telly.
