Welcome to Season 5 of the Aviva Premiership fantasty rugby game. Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to. If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (Ozzy3213) as to how the situation will be resolved.

Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (me) will remove players at it’s discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.

Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the matchday 22's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make up of your squad.

Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have a listed senior academy squad of 20 players. Players who are in the senior academy must be under 22 years of age as of 1st September 2012 (therefore must have been born on or after 1st Septmber 1990). Players who are under the age of 20 (so born after 1st September 1992) AND are in the academy of the club that you are managing in real life, DO NOT need to be listed as senior academy players as part of your 20, but are available to you in this game and cannot be poached by other clubs without paying you a fee.

Should a player not listed in your 20 senior academy players, but part of the clubs academy in real life move clubs in real life, then you will have first option of promoting him to your listed senior academy. If you choose not to take this option he will become property of the club that he moves to in real life in this game.

Transfers wrote:

  • Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.

  • Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 3 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the Championship/National League bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on it's own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

  • Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

Foreign transfers will unlimited during the off season and 2 during the season. The exact dates of the two transfer windows during the season is to be confirmed.

Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation

Compensation will be paid as follows

£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other

If a released player plays in real life for a team outside of this game he will be deemed to have returned to that team. If not then he will be deemed to have signed for a Championship side. If another manager wants to pick a released player up, they will have to bid for him in the same way as for a foreign or Championship/National League player.

Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.

Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A thread will be put up for managers to name their teams on Thursdays, then on Fridays, managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.

Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.

In addition, each team must have the following:-

At least 10 England qualified players in your matchday 23, and at least 5 of those must be in your starting XV.

At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.

All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).

Failure to comply with these rules will result in forfeiting the match and a 1 league point deduction.

If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.

Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.

Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.

Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.

Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point for a first offence, two for a second offence and so on.

Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.

£1.5m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc.

Hell of a finish Fraser, no right to score that. Simpson has injected some pace and looks decent. Fords kicking from hand is totally aimless

Daley has a clever boot, much better than Ford.

Court smashing Brookes, how is he a Saxon??

Decent win, dire game.

Daley, Biggs, Scrum went well for us. Ford was poor as was Wade, Tomkins.

Biggs showed he is RL winger for me. stuck out on his wing and just chased ball all day.

Brookes 3rd choice TH at Tigers? Would rather of seen them going for Tomazayak or someone playing regular.

What happened to Tom Mercy?

Ratings for me

Daley 8/10 - didn't put a foot wrong all game , covered up for Biggs and Wades poor positioning.

Wade 5/10 - Poor display , made a good cover on Fitzgerald early on but caught out under kicks.

Tomkins 5/10 - Hit the ball up well once.

Turner Hall 6/10 - Took the ball to the line , dropped the ball in a try scoring position. Solid Enough

Biggs 6/10 - Strong kick chase , strong all round game.

Ford 6/10 - Played field well , hit and miss off the hand and tee.

Wrigglesworth 6/10 - dictated tempo well , marshalled pack

Wood 8/10 - beast at the scrum , paggered Michael Bent.

Grey 6/10 - Solid all round set piece work , lucky to be on for Elbow on Marshall.

PDJ 8/10 - Same as Wood , smashed Irish LHs and carried a bit in loose.

Kitchener 7/10 - Plenty of graft and done enough in loose

Robson 3/10 - didn't notice he was playing , Toners back pocket.

Kruis 5/10 - decent shift in defence and made the odd trundle.

Fraser 7/10 - usual self popping up in the loose causing mayhem.

Crane 7/10 - typical Crane game , carried well and cleaned up a lot of poor ball.

Slater is a good club player. Does a proper job for Leicester and is a great squad player.

Leicester get loads of these and it's secret of their success Brett deacon slater John wells Matt smith Hamilton (Sh) Staunton stankovich etc

They sign players who fill in that are good enough. Place one of these in a great side like Leicester and they look great.

Their depth is key.

Whilst glos have to play cook at fb Leicester have murphy morris Hamilton etc and all more capable .

Robson was pretty ineffective, one of his worst games Ive seen in a while.

Fords raking kicks???? I call it his aimless, pointless kicking. Not a good game.

Daley pretty good though.

Matt Tait not got the size?! Size isn't an issue, just ask Shane Williams, Vincent Clerc, Matheu Andreu or George Gregan. Size doesn't stop you playing rugby.

Just injuries and not knowing where to play has hampered his progression

Fluxy a lot of people I really respect think he is proper just does not do it for me.

I feel same re wade and eastmond.

Some smaller players just seem to play more than their size.

Johnny may Anthony Allen huget clerc Mapletoft Shane Williams( took me ages to rate him. He was poor for ages then bulked and became top) all play bigger

Hadn't seen this until now, cracking finish and great play by Farrell.

http://www.rugbydump.com/2013/01/2965/chris-ashton-scores-sneaky-try-from-pinpoint-owen-farrell-cross-kick

Trouble with Tait is that rugby is getting more and more physical these days and his ideal position would be as a 13, but I dont think he's physical/aggressive enough. He's done some nice things at Tigers as a 15, but positioning and kicking isn't there yet. Might improve, seems to be preferred to Murphy at the minute.

You play at.

Small front rows always difficult although 5"11 a decent size.

Stuffing up jumper and kicking corners hard to play. You have to have execution right.

I find that the Easiest way to play is loose and open. It masks faults.

We played Henley when scw coached them. I was 17/18 and we kicked to
Corners attacked scrums and beat them
Up.
Henley had all the moves loud speakers and motivational
Slogans everywhere.
We killed them.

To play a limited kicking game with set piece at heart you have to have basics top.
Harder to play.

Do you think?

The amount of teams we see play who have a old head jumping at 2 and the hooker who just banks to him and with a lot of them teams and our 2nds/3rds not training theres no defence so everyone just flys head first into the maul and the space is just there wide.

We're playing Middlesbourgh 3rds tomorrow and there tighthead is a bit of a arse , awful rugby player. Just likes to fight , has the nick name pitbull. I remeber jumping at 4 and he sacked me in the line whilst he was on the floor just wrapped his arms round me in mid air and dropped me.

Looking forward to playing tomorrow now.

Right, there seems to be an issue around Ben Botica and whether or not he is England qualified. I have scoured the web to try to find a definitive answer, as I had been under the impression that he was EQ. I cannot find an unarguable answer anywhere. One report I found was him saying that he believes that he qualifies.

Going strictly by the IRB eligibility criteria however it doesn't look as if he does qualify as he fails to meet any of the three things that you can meet to qualify. His 8 years as a child here do not count as they have to immediately preceed his selection, and he left the country and then came back.

As it stands, I don't think that he is qualified to play for England and as such, from here on in, he no longer counts as an EQ player, until such time as he completes the 3 year qualifying period.

I'm 5.11 fourteen and half stone, our hooker's the same, our th is 6.0 and 18st. Rare we get shoved backwards. I was always told I was too small to prop, now played there 13 years and captain from it! Technique over size I say

Technique is huge prop. As I said on post above with Tom smith and paul Wallace.

When I prop I struggle with smaller th's as I am 6 " 2+ so too tall for loose head. Why I prefer 8 or 6 .

That said a good big un is generally better than a good small un

Ryan mills played for glos today. Guy has a big future. Great to see him back. Played 10 where he is more of A 12. Guy is England potential in a problem position. Will he kick on. ?

Stookes played today as well and we were beaten easily by saints. Glad to see front line players get a rest

Ryan Mills looks a top prospect, he was one of the best players in the JWC two years ago - he had a bit of a weird injury though didn't he?

Guess the trouble he will have is Twelvetrees playing at 12 for the club and he's only 24 so will he get the game time to develop properly?

There are a few players, incl Twelvetrees, who have had their game development stalled by not being given enough game time - see how quickly Launch, BV and Daly have come on at Wasps because they start every game now. Compare that with Ford who doesnt play enough games and that has seen him lose confidence and hasn't kicked on as quickly this season.

Did Botica get ruled EQ?

I don't think the IRB regulations say anything about passports or citizenship, probably because different coutries have different requirements for this so it wouldn't be a level playing field. The only ways you can qualify for a country are being born there, having a parent or grandparent born there, or completing three years residency immediately before your first cap. The residency as a child wouldn't count, he'd have to go through it again. I'm not arguing rights or wrongs but I think those are the rules.

Indeed.

REGULATION 8. ELIGIBILITY TO PLAY FOR NATIONAL
REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS
8.1 Subject to Regulation 8.2, a Player may only play for the senior fifteen-a-
side National Representative Team, the next senior fifteen-a-side National
Representative Team and the senior National Representative Sevens Team
of the Union of the country in which:
(a) he was born; or
(b) one parent or grandparent was born; or
(c) he has completed thirty six consecutive months of Residence
immediately preceding the time of playing.

Don't think he hits any of those....not that he's any good anyway!

10k

They have 4 wells, that's news from well 3 going up in production has boosted up. News on well 4 coming soon, still time to buy if you're fancying it. I reckon a 10-15% profit on current price in 2 weeks or so is feesible.
