2013 version 2.0 Wales vs England bickering thread.
First topic message reminder :
Carry on your bickering here.
I was going to summarise the previous thread, but going through a thousand posts and ultimately it ends on goats, sheep on your 18th brithday that hangs around longer than strippers doesn't say much for the rest of the content.
Enjoy.

Oh and Biltong, I must admit that's the same attitude as I have about the Tri-Nations (or whatever it's called now).
It's all very nice to watch and all that but I don't really care who wins, although saying that it would be nice to see Argentina do well - after all they nearly did it against SA last year and I'm sure a few wins would make them feel better.
Keep smiling

Of course it is mate! Win or lose on Saturday I'm sure the day will be an enjoyable one - I'd rather win though.

Even when we rebuild, we are still top 3.
In the meantime our cricket team is blasting all and sundry on the test front.
We won the Currie Cup last year.
We still managed to beat all our NH rivals last year. (OK there was one draw)

Re: 2013 version 2.0 Wales vs England bickering thread.
If England put a big score on Italy this weekend, then they've already won the tournament. The game in Cardiff will be for the GS or for Wales to try and stop it.
Wales rarely beat England by more than a handful of points and as far as I remember, Wales haven't beaten Scotland by more than 18 points in memorium. Therefore, a big score at Twickenham would mean a mountain to climb for Wales in terms of points difference if they were to have aspirations of winning the tourney, they simply wont do it.

The comp is done, Wales ambition is to beat Scotland and then England in Cardiff and for them after last year's run, that would be a fantastic 6 Nations. England must win the Slam, anything else will not do.

I do look at it as if England have won this event and yes if we lose at the MS every england fan is going to be gutted!!
just the same as 2011!
but we can celebrate 3 wins in the tourny at the mo - if (when) we beat italy thats going to be 5 wins on the spin with games that include france and NZ!(no disrespect to the others but both were ranked above us pre tourny!)
Good times as an england fan.. Even if we do lose at the MS, yes we wont be happy. But we can still be happy about the position we are in in world rugby. We are clearly getting better

I'd be happy with another 6 nation’s title to add to our collection.
The Slam would just be the icing on the cake that is true but in all honestly I'd rather we won the 2015 RWC.
If losing in Cardiff next week is the failure these players need in their minds to do that then so be it as the fear of failure made the 2003 team world Champions.
This is why Wales never do well at RWCs as they only want to beat England.

Why?
Most predictions from outsiders saw England winning their 3 home games and maybe sneak a win away from home. This has almost been achieved and England are clear favourites for the title. So long as they beat Italy this will have been a very good championship for England. Should they then beat Wales it would be a fantastic one.

Probably because this is one of the most devalues six nations I have ever seen. A urine poor welsh team, and an unfancied (before the tournament) Scottish side are both looking decent and in with a chance of the title. The Franch have not played more than 30 mins out of a possible 120. So realistically if England are wanting to prove they are a decent side then anything less that a Grand Slam over a really poor bunch of teams would be a real let down.

Not according to quite a lot of Welsh and Scottish supporters before the tournament who were blaming everything but their players for the lack of form, and in all honestly, unless England all die on the way to the match in Cardiff, neither Wales or Scotland are in with a realistic chance of winning the title.

Cian singlehandedly managed to max his thread at 20 pages and 999 posts.
With 2 full teams of the world's so called 'best' bickerers we can only manage half of Cian's score so far.
Must try harder.
Too bad HERSH was cited, he would have maxed this thread with his WUMs by now.

Ahhh, another one of those devalued championships. I think you have to go back to '03 for the last one worth winning. Makes you wonder why we have them.

Scotland beat wales by 20+, wales beat england by 1 point? It is possible still, I never said likely.
Wales were awful since last march, and Scotland are never really fancied to do well. So the fact they have both got 2 wins out of 3 games, says how poor a 6 nations this season has been.

Barney McGrew -: I have been waiting since '05 to be able to fire the 'devalues' card at the English, after 8 years of waiting I can use it, and suprisingly I can mean it too (sadly).

Oh dear, this is why England don't win Slams and haven't since ?....on the one hand everyone is nervously pretending they don't care about the Slam and on the other they can't help themselves planning their celebratory DVDs.
For England in their current form to win the championship in defeat to Wales in Cardiff, choking on the Grand Slam again but 'winning' it by PD is nothing short of a pyhrric victory. It will be victory with a small v, winning with a w, the Grand Slam DVDs can't really be replaced by 'England 6 Nations Champions' DVDs can they? Everyone who has felt the Slam knows that the 6 Nations is about the Slam and those that don't just don't get the competition and mitigate it to explain their failings.
It will be inexplicable and inexcusable for England not to take what they deserve; like NZ choking on Webb Ellis, to consistently fail at the final hurdle. For Wales it is a winner takes all game, there is no pressure, the Slam is off but for us after last years horrible annus, to win 4/5 is a great end to the season. If we can beat Scots we will have one thing on our minds and that is beating England at home, anything else is gravy. But, you self obssessed English fans who think that all we exist for is to beat England, don't kid yourselves; Wales are the Grand Slam exponents of the 6 Nations, we know the pain and glory and for us the Slam is all that counts.
That's the game, them's the stakes.

Why?
Most predictions from outsiders saw England winning their 3 home games and maybe sneak a win away from home. This has almost been achieved and England are clear favourites for the title. So long as they beat Italy this will have been a very good championship for England. Should they then beat Wales it would be a fantastic one.
Er... because he hates England and probably the English, and any chance to have a dig will do?

Actually, France are equal with Wales with 3 each, and France are easily on top in terms of points difference.

Re: 2013 version 2.0 Wales vs England bickering thread.
Here are some facts......
Wales have not beaten the All Blacks since 1953
Wales have only ever beaten the Springboks 3 times
Edwards just said " we come alive in the 6N" That they do that they do.
3 Slams in the last 8 years is good going but why cant they beat higher ranked teams particularly those from the SH?
Why? I think its because they dont have the belief.

It's crazy but you are right, Howley's comments about Wlaes defeats to Aus this year were very revealing....on 2 occassions he said we lost by a couple of points. That was also the case in RWC 2011 when we lost key games by only 11 points total while squandering 20 plus kicked points, especially in the semi when i think we missed 11.
That wholw attiitude of nearly rans just stinks. Wales do have issues with belief , and the concept of putting games away, putting teams to the sword. Last time we actually destroyed a side was 2005 in Scotland! And even then we came off the gas and shipped 3 tries. We are slow out of the blocks and play catch up because the chase game suits our tempo.
Until we beat two SH sides in the same year we will always be a 6 Nations side who can 'beat anyone on their day'

I disagree with this. The Slam is a construct. It is never spoken of in the tri nations or the now championship. What matters is winning championships, silverware and test matches. If the Slam comes it wont come with any silverware but it will be a bonus for what is a young England side developing.
Perhaps Wales should be less concerned with chalking up Slams and more worried about their inability to beat the SH sides? In other words to raise their standards rather than just routinely beat sides who are either at or below their level.

I agree with Triangulation.
The record shows the winner of a trophy, next to it it could say Grandslam next to it, but it doesn't influence the record books.
A slam is great in the sense that it improves overall win ratio's for the year.
