LaRon Landry has signed with the Colts. 4 years, $24m, $14m in guarantees.
Tip for teams playing the Colts next year - have your WRs make lots of double moves. He can't cope with them. Bites every time.
Good luck with that deal Indy fans...

Denver pick up Rodgers-Cromartie on a 1 year deal too.
Very much a win-now mentality in Denver huh?
Reckon Elway wants to swing more credit his way if they win the SB rather than let Peyton challenge him as a Broncos legend.
I do wish they were in a different division though.

Raiders have made the first moves to fill the enormous holes across their roster:
Jason Hunter, DE
Pat Sims, DT
Kaluka Maiava, LB
Anyone that can shine a light on those guys?
I don't think they are necessarily starters - more like warm bodies that come cheap...

Nah, we're the Miami Dolphins model of signing everyone in 1 year. Bucs seem to be following the Redskins model of being in for every top FA

Yeah, he did. He always seems to be around the ball to make tackles. You don't want to receive the ball over the middle when he's bearing down on you, that's for sure. He'll hit you so hard and jam the ball out. That's why he's a fans favourite. I'll miss him.

Anyone looking for a TE sleeper for fantasy this year, James Casey seems a shout. The Eagles wouldn't have paid him if they were going to waste him like the Texans did.

rms are alot better than bears, bradford is getting better, there offensvie line works, there defence is younger and just about as good as the bears, and th elions plain out stink while th cards have a top 10 D and if they get a QB who can shove it down fitz's throat then they should a a dangerous team
west is best

Maiava is realiable but probably won't be a standout guy, could play either OLB position but to give you some confidence in the signing: "@PFF Nice move by #Raiders. Kaluka Maiava turned 2-down role with Browns into our 7th highest grade for 4-3 OLBs last year. Shrewd."sodhat wrote:Raiders have made the first moves to fill the enormous holes across their roster:

@AdamSchefter
Chiefs have been trying to trade QB Matt Cassel before having to release him. Release still more likely. Minnesota a potential landing spot.
@AdamSchefter
Chargers announced they agreed to terms on a four-year contract with former Jaguars’ cornerback Derek Cox.
That's Cox and DRC off the CB market, still Keenan Lewis available though.

The win now mentality was picked up on twitter yesterday with the Welker stuff. It said Broncos seem to be in win now mode, Pats are in win 1-5 years from now mode, which is understandable.
Although this will require Peyton to win playoff games probably in the cold of Denver.

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread part 2
Manning and the offense will do their bit, but the defense needs to improve. I suppose DRC is aimed at that, and apparently Freeney as well as a safety are on the radar. They will make the play-offs from our division, no problem. The Chiefs should improve, but the Raiders are nowhere near and I think the Chargers are perennial 8-8ers.
Thanks Derby, I'd read positive things about Maiava on PFT. He's only £2m per year too, so he fits the austerity plans. As it stands he would be SLB, Burris at WLB and McClain at MLB (assuming they don't cut him)

49ers no longer in Sean Smith sweepstakes, though they probably never were. Delmas and Asomugha visiting today, Nnamdi in particular seems very keen. Delmas and Asomugha more than offset the loss of Goldson for me so I hope it happens. And then draft a safety pretty high in the draft to oust Whitner 2014. I'd love to gran Vaccarro or Cyprien and pair with Delmas long term. Asomugha on two year deal and Delmas on three year pending physical is ideal

Not too sure why you're excited about Delmas either tbh. Would be better to grab one of the guys from the draft imo

I think you'll be surprised by Asomugha if he comes to 49ers. We play a lot of press man to man and that is his game, just tell him who he is covering and he will stick like glue. I don't buy that he is done, sure he isn't the second best corner in the NFL any more but I gurantee he would look good playing in the red and gold, will redeem himself.

We still will draft a safety high because Whitner likely gone after 2014. Delmas is a very talented player who made the Lions D ten times better when he played. Of course his injury history is worrying but at 100% he is one of the best at his position. In an ideal world I'd love for Delmas to be fit and play ss and draft Vaccaro to play fs. This is all based on whether or not the 49ers deem him healthy. If they do I trust their judgement and will assume we are getting the healthy and brilliant Delmas

I don't get this excuse. People know that he was playing man to man, press all year. And he sucked. Hes lost a step.
Good luck to whoever signs him, but hes not the same player he was in Oakland.

I don't expect him to be like he was in Oakland but he will still be above average. The Eagles D was poor and nobody looked any good, especially the corners and that is why I expect DRC and Nnamdi to get better. 49ers are one of the few defenses that can offer him what he had in Oakland, the left spot where he can use the sideline as his friend. I don't look at him with the Eagles and base my evaluation of him off that, there is a reason they cleaned house. And imo he is not done physically, impossible to know until we see him on a team where he wants to be and where he actually fits the system. If he joins the niners, I'd bet money that he is an above average corner

My funniest Nnamdi play is where he covered Reuben Randle, Eli lobs it to the corner, Nnamdi's in position, spazzes out and allows a 38 yard TD.
I knew whoever signed him would spout the same stuff. Dude's not good anymore

Namdi was always overated, i heard something that while at oakland his numebr where inflated as he always played on the blind side of right handed QBs, and was never really covering the QB's first read.
the partnership of Nnamdi and rogers wouldnt fill be with thta much confidence

Impossible to know that this early. Other players have had a few seasons affected by injury and been consistent performers when they recover. Would you say Jared Gaither, Big Ben or Jason Peters are let downs because they miss so many games. If Delmas comes back fully fit and at 100%, you can't name more than five guys at his position that can match him at his best. As far as I know he has never had any serious surgeries which is good. Also the conditioning on the niners will help, there is a reason the D almost never loses any guys. If he has to train different or whatever then that'll be done.

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread part 2
Partnership of Rogers and Asomugha wouldn't be important. Brown is an underrated corner and I think he'd play outside with Nnamdi more. I hope Nnamdi does sign with the 49ers and I'm very confident in saying he will surprise people. Not old nnamdi but still above average. And I usually come good on predictions like this so won't think any different. People said the same about Justin Smith, Carlos Rogers and Whitner when they came to 49ers, whether or not they are the best is irrelevant, they played their role and exceeded expectations
