Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread Part 3
Basically depth for depth, though I did think we were fine at RB with Richardson, Hardesty and Ogbonnaya but Acho wouldn't have fit the new 3-4 scheme so can't really complain about the deal too much and maybe one of those back ups gets sent off in a trade somewhere during the draft.GSC wrote:Eagles traded Dion Lewis to Cleveland for Emmanuel Acho. Decent backup Lewis, just not as good as Brown.

More considered, unbiased and well expressed analysis from Cherries as the 1000th post on part 2 or the thread

I'm just wondering what North Korea would have to gain from aiming at Seattle.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread Part 3
First big mistake by Spielman I think, totally messed up the process of just renegotiating a new deal with Winfield, who still is a great run defender and tackler and more importantly for the Vikings, a veteran leader. He was still thinking of coming back even after they cut him without ever having a proper discussion about his contract! The front office could have handled it so much better; instead CB becomes an even bigger draft priority.

Apparently the New York Jets are trying to get Mark Sanchez traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers along with Revis.

Those claims have been disparaged by all reporters though.

I don't think Idzik is even in negotiations with the Bucs. He's played it perfectly so far. As usual, the NY media are coming up with complete cowpat.
Bold prediction: Sanchez has the best season of his career.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread Part 3
Disappointed the Redskins couldn't reel in Winfield. Not surprised though since we've no money and are not close enough to being a contender to make him come for less cash. Still, we've got a few young CBs on the books just now and will no doubt draft at least one other so I'm all for bringing them along and seeing what they can do. Prob makes more sense than a 1 year rental for a 36 year old CB.
Winfield makes a ton of sense for Seattle though. They're definitely a contender and he makes a good defense stronger. Seahawks look very strong right now. Just one injury to Russell Wilson away from having Brady Quinn starting at QB though....... surely that must keep even Richard "The most annoying man in the NFL" Sherman awake at night???

Wilson isn't exactly of a sturdy build either. Injury-prone offensive line could land them in trouble.

You know, I keep checking this thread every now and then and can't believe how much I've missed, even from reporters I follow on twitter!!! I am so off pace with the NFL this off season. Think NHL has started to overtake as my number one North American sport.

Browns have signed Shayne Graham to a one year deal for the minimum $900,000. Has experience kicking in similar conditions to those he will face in Cleveland hopefully won't be a massive drop off from Dawson.

Permission for Darrelle Revis to undergo Bucs physical never would have been granted if NYJ and TB couldn't work out trade. So there's that.
