The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Walkabout, Covent Garden
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to the original Walkabout pub in London's Covent Garden, as it is set to close its doors at the end of the month.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Mark Ella or recent birthday boys Gibson and Glas a du above the bar.

It is worrying... but is it wrong I can't help but laugh at the fact the first responder called 30 other Japanese policemen when he saw the size of Collins despite the fact he was intent on coming quietly!
But, it is very serious. We should probably get Jerry Collins to give Stephen Ferris an insight into how dangerous it is over there. Best stay with what you know and all that

Pretty difficult to be sure if the danger is real or imagined.
Why would Brazilians care about NZ rugby players coming to Japan?

I'd say Jerry Collins won't be extending his contract beyond the end of the month anyway. He'll be off home, if they don't charge him that is!

Oh dear, Willy. Weather here has been strange. We are just catching the fringe of the snow, had a minor fall over Friday night, since then it has come down very faintly, but strangely not lying. It's been very cold, but with some sunshine in between the snow showers. I would like to be able to get out into my garden!!

Good Morning all.
I saw some footage of all the snow in Co. Antrim and the Isle of Man. Those poor little sheep buried under all that snow! I hope everyone on here is coping well with it all.
Glas, what breed are those ones with the chocolate faces?
Ha, some nutter in Melbourne is running naked through a shopping centre carpark. I suppose he'll say 'the heat drove him crazy'....

They look great. We don't get many of those here... I don't think.
I liked the shot of them all in the barn full of hay. Looked considerably more cosier there than outside.
How are your ones? OK I hope.

Yes. Whilst we cop the rain, we are in the snow shadow. Just very dry and cold. No grass, but we can carry food out to them.
We have mules, excellent sheep, but not enough wool for your lot.

What sheep are brown with white marks on their faces? I saw some of those in Llandogo last weekend.

Hi Lucky
Can you see it here?

The one with reflective eyes just like that photo you took of Lola on the stairs.

Morning, Lucky. That's my birdies fed for the first time today! Don't let anybody tell you that robins are solitary except in the breeding season - I have five coming to get their grub with only the occasional fight breaking out. When everything is frozen and covered in snow for this long, food takes precedence over territory, I guess.

Morning everyone, I have to say I found it funny to see Aussies and Welshmen talking about which breed of sheep is their favourite.
Prop, shouldn't be too hard to get your photo taken outside the various landmarks.
Get the tube to Tower Hill and start there. You'll take in Tower of London, London Bridge, The Globe Theater, London Eye, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and Buckingham Palace. Thats less than 4 miles on foot. Not a bother to you.
Then wander down to Harrods and you can add that (I consider it a tourist attraction) and Hyde Park to your list. Then the Science Museum and History Museum are only a 15 or 20 minutes walk away.
Thats a jam packed day in London!

Hows the pup getting on Lucky.
For all you snow-dodgers, we haven't had a flake all year in Limerick. (Think the snow is scared of Paul O'Connell).

They are attractive animals, Stag... as you would know I'm sure.
I dropped a champagne flute at a Christmas Party (1990) at that museum. Right next to the big dinosaur skeleton. I must have looked totally shocked and embarrassed because a waiter was there in a flash and said to me "Don't worry Sir.... "
It was like when they drop some chemical in a Petri dish and you see a hole form in the middle of it as all the organisms rush to the sides.

That's been doing the rounds for a while, another one was that some farmers had been booked for not having insurance for their tractors or something of that ilk.... not sure how true that is but hey ho.....

Snowing heavily again here. And all the roads over the tops that re-opened yesterday are now either hazardous or shut again

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Walkabout, Covent Garden
Glas, if you're about. Whats Gareth Maule like? Apparently Munster are looking at him as a centre option now that Luke Fitzgerald deal has fallen through. His is out of contract at end of year and Scarlets are said to be holding out on any committment with finding a number 8 their biggest priority. Nothing remotely close to confirmed but its doing the rounds in Limerick.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Walkabout, Covent Garden
Maule, seriously? Was never that impressed with him when I've seen him. I mean he's decent. He's pretty much a standard Pro12 player imo. Adds depth and performs reliably for the Scarlets when their internationals are away but wouldn't be as good as Darren Cave, Eoin Griffin etc.
Honestly think if Maule is their best other option they'd be better off sticking with Casey Lualala. I know he's had a tough time settling into Munster but he's still better than Maule.
I stand to be corrected by those with more knowledge of the guy. But he's just not someone you worry about when he's on the visitors teamsheet. NIQ journeymen are a waste of time unless you're really stuck in the centres. And whilst I think Maule is better than Danny Barnes or Ivan Dineen he's not all that much better.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Walkabout, Covent Garden
Notch - I mentioned it on another thread and apparently Maule can be signed as a Project Player. Never been capped by Wales. Laulala has a big 14 months ahead of him if he wants a new contract. I believe he can contribute but hasn't delivered yet.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Walkabout, Covent Garden
I see... I think that he'd be more of a Robbie Diack/Peter Borlase type project player than a Richardt Strauss/Jared Payne type! Best case scenario is a solid club player rather than someone who will ever be making the grade for Ireland.
You probably do need another centre if Earls is going to be considered as a back three player, as I think he should. I don't think there's grounds to be sniffy about two NIQ centres because I actually think if it means Earls is in the back three for Munster its more of a good thing for Ireland. But it does highlight that we really need Leinster to give some new guys gametime at 13 next season.
13 is turning into a bit of a problem for us. Probably inevitable given the long shadow of BOD.

I think Notch has it about right regarding Gareth Maule, Stag: solid, but unspectacular. That's only from what I've seen of him, mind.

Plus if you had the choice of Munster or the Dragons, you'd be Newport bound all the time. Hence why Stag is now such a massive Dragons fan.
