Well let's hope Zebo scores Rev, coz if he gets hurt now, Gatland looks a bit dim. It's not like Williams was awful.Risca Rev wrote:offload wrote:Williams off for Zebo ?
Well Gats I hope that was worth it.
It is really. They had to protect Zebo for as long as possible

Much better from the Lions as they steal a line-out. Owen Farrell will look to give the Brumbies a dig in the flanks.
Surgical. Earn me another shot at goal, he seems to be urging, quite happy to win ugly.

did Gray have a good first half? He's had some great steals at the lineout in the second.

Ah, I see your point. I think 70ish minutes was about Williams' limit

Gray had some good plays in the loose but absent in the lineout given his size. Shows you what a change in the personnel around you can do.

We're right into the guts now. Lions probe but forced to kick.. but turn it back over! Simon Zebo makes a slashing break, Lions recycle and Christian Wade grubbers through.
Jesse Mogg clears but not far, throw-in Lions., This could be the key moment.

Lions grind from the line-out and then go wide. Big men run hard and the Lions get to within five metres, but become isolated and the Brumbies turn it over.

Brumbies delay a line-out throw. Lions take the scrum. Can they lay down their power?
Free-kick Lions. They'll go again. They want a penalty here.

What happened there? Somehow the Brumbies steal the ball against the head. Awesome from the hosts, the crowd goes berserk.
Jesse Mogg finds a huge clearance kick, the Lions take a quick throw-in but the ball doesn't go five, scrum Brumbies.
Mogg wasn't too far off making the Wallabies playing XXIII. Quality

Lions make a mess of the home scrum but the hosts secure the ball. They drive around the fringes, can the Lions turn it over?

You could throw a blanket over the Brumbies as they inch forwards around the fringes. Scrum Brumbies. Lions have to do something here, because that unbeaten record is set to go the way of black and white TV.

Well done Brumbies, Lions did not take this game seriously enough early enough. Think they'll still win T1, but lose the Series

Deserved win for the Brumbies- Lions didn't take this game seriously and we were exceptionally poor for 60 mins.

Well done Brumbies.
Some serious questions for the Lions to answer. Non-existant breakdown work, and poor lineout. Who is coaching the lineout?
Very, very, very poor. Not to take anything away from the Brumbies.

Gatland played third choice players for too long. Disappointing. Now we go into the Test with no momentum. We go in without any more injuries which I guess was the point, but really a shame.

Outstanding from the Brumbies, well done. Gatland, what a shambolic display! Credit to the subs though, they nearly got it back.

Matt Stevens needs to be put down for his being utterly useless at everything. Rory Best can just go away now i supported his inclusion but that was truly awful

I will excuse the back line, the 3/4s has not trained together more than a brief run around, the 10 was out of position.
The starting pack though were woeful.

I don't think many Lions enhanced their credentials to play on Saturday. Very disappointed in Best, the second row, the back row and Youngs. Kearney did pretty well but his part in the Brumbies try was diabolical.

Did the Lions insult the Brumbies by putting out a weakened side against them?

what happens when you play a guy at 10 who had 1 match experience in his entire pro career in the position... you played there at school right hoggy??
Just for reference... Bakkies Botha and Danie Russouw were the halfbacks of their pre-teen school team (they've literally grown up together).

Big mistake for me for Gatland not to want to lay down a marker. Especially after all the talk of weak opposition in the warm up games. A decent opposition turns out and the Lions field a backline who have just met and a pack who looked like it didnt care.
The wallabies will have their tails up watching this.

Meh. Third choice Lions lose to the Brumbies. Nothing much to see here, a first choice Lions XV would have caned the Brumbies, who were pretty poor themselves. Can't wait for Saturday.

Kearney was one of the worst offenders in my opinion. Got sucked into a kicking battle he was never going to win and rarely reclaimed his own kicks.

Re: Brumbies vs Lions Tuesday
Awesome effort from a 2nd string Brumbies side. They were without Moore, Alexander, Palmer, George Smith, Pocock, Aluea, White, CL, McCabe and Tomane. I thought the Lions would have performed better despite being a "scratch" team. They are all seasoned internationals with 100's of caps. The Brumbies boasted one international (Kimlin) with a grand total of 2 caps. Another feather in the cap for Jake White.

to be honest I would say including SOB and Tipuric. SOB was shipping too many penalties, while despite Barnes and Harrison trying to talk him into the team Tipuric was largely invisible and when seen was lightweight.

He had a lot of confidence in the running game I guess Meaning 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 really looked up for it

No momentum lost, no advantage Australia. I'm sure Deans etc are realistic to note that not many of those players will feature on Saturday.

Well, in this case not quite true, but well done the Brumbies. I am looking forward to seeing what the Aussie backline can do on Saturday. I think this game did matter, as the Aussies will certainly get a boost in confidence

Which is why in an inevitable dogfight v the Wallabies, Warburton was always the likelier option.

Doesn't matter, it's a Squad feeling. If your 2nd team lose at school/uni, it affects the moral of the whole club. And the Aussies' seconds that played (those who trained in the squad before being released) should bring the reverse to the Aussie XV who will have been happy to see their clubmates beat the Lions. Players like Alexander, Moore, Lealiifano and Tomane who will play

Not true, he had plenty of minutes at fulback where he failed to impress in any way. If Gatland hadn't have named him as a 10, he wouldn't have featured much at all.

The Brumbies beat a second string Lions side that never looked like they could score a try, Warren gatland wont mind he's kept his top team away from injury, they will be ready to go on the weekend.
