Why would he not just take Xavi's place instead of Fabregas? If he's not even as good as Fab then Utd haven't signed the right player here.

I don't know about Thiago. Talented player, but a bit overhyped because hes a ball playing mid from barca.

Good for him, Palace's style of play could actually be suited to him. Stay fit, get good service, score 10-15 goals, England squad, Rooney's metatarsal explodes, scores in all three group games, winning penalty in the semi, hat-trick in the final against Germany.

Good old Carlton. Guarantees me being at the palace game
I'd expect West Ham to be involved in any Ba move or Moses move, although latest winger rumours are based around Zaha and Sinclair. Kalou is also on our radar

Shocker if we buy Kone. Don't rate him at all and at 29 why don't we just get Bent who's a more proven natural finisher. We don't need another African striker, we need some British players at the club. Why we sold Perch so cheaply, I don't know. Not happy.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread ......Continued
Kone's cheaper in both fee and wages (much), and brings a much more rounded game than Bent. he also isn't coming off a poor season. I would not be upset with 5m for Kone.

There's a LOT of Albion fans annoyed with West Ham - every time a player is linked with us, he's then linked with West Ham the next day. Happened with Lukaku, Ba, Bony, Kalou, Sinclair...I think the media get confused between the two 'West' teams, and the Hammers being the ones with the high profile, they get credit for chasing players they're not

Utter rubbish this `coming off a bad season`. In this league, you take bent over kone everyday of the week. I dont give a care in the world about him being ex sunderland either. Cisse & Kone would be a horrible combination to rely on. Would love 2 know geordiefalcons view on this.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread ......Continued
Absolutely baffled by that one. A very naturally gifted player but wages and age don't suit the west brom mould.
Haha why would they be annoyed? We are likely to compete. A lot of people convinced Ba is coming to us.
Our record signing of Matt Jarvis and our recent acquisition of Razvan Rat prove you right G!

6 goals in 23 games for a striker who offers nothing to the team outside of goals is a bad season like it or not.
Never quite got the obsession with Bent. I'd rather have Kone for 5m and reasonable wages than Bent for 7m+ and his wages.

I know Azzy will disagree, but I am buzzing about the prospect of Anelka at the Albion. Really think he'll be a good signing.
Kalou would also be fantastic and I think it's really doable with a small release fee and his apparent will to take a cut in wages. I think Kalou, if we buy him, is seen as Odemwingie's natural replacement where as Anelka will be one of our forward options.
Really hope we move for Toivonen though, supposedly stalling on a move to Norwich, though that'll probably change with that announcement later on!

I'd play Kone on his own, dump Cisse on the bench. He's the better striker of the three imo.
Anelka's passed his medical already according to my stepdad, so it's just a case of dotting the i's. Somewhere between £30k and £40k a week supposedly, which is actually okay. Maybe he's matured?

Personally my anger is more towards Gold and Sullivan who come out with all this Poopie about who they are going to sign, then bring hardly any of them in.
Plus their time at Blues hardly endeared them to Albion fans with some of the bids they made for our players. And no-one likes Karen Brady.

But neither have them have come out and said we're signing anyone. Except that we will be signing players, which I would expect. In fact, we've always bought players since they've been in charge, every window we sign someone. Sullivan is much more likeable since the PR team stopped all the interviews. Learning his place, although he is now the majority shareholder having bought a big chunk of shares recently.
Loan for Ba Miky, whilst we are apparently interested in Bony if we can structure the cost over 3 years, Ba is primarily a loan.

Yeah, bent had a bad season due to injury, being fazed out by Lambert and then having to endure bench/subs roles for the majority of the season, limiting his impact. No surprise there if your not favoured and not enjoying your football. Bent is a superior option than Kone in this league, record speaks for itself. Kone is not prolific, inconsistant, non british and hes nearly 30 aswell. Its a no brainer to go with Bent, regardless of the fee/wages, especially as we were going after a £15m aubamayang which we are now saving on. ACON (Cisse/Kone) leaves us with Campbell/Ameobi.......

Cheers mate - Interesting to see how Bony gets on in the Premier League if the transfer happens. I think Ba will do well on loan for West Ham amongst other teams.

Wolves have signed Sam Rickets from Bolton. He is a bit too good for league one isn't he?!
Fleetwood have signed Mark Roberts from Stevenage.

What about coming out with the "I'd love to sign Lukaku to play alongside Andy Carroll" quote? But like I said, it's more irrational hatred thing, at least on my part, from their time at Blues where they bid about 5 million for Koumas and Kamara combined when they were sold for 6 and 7 million each or something like that
Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread ......Continued
Not to mention West Ham's £2.5m bid for Dorrans, then coming back in with a £2.75m bid. We turned down £6m from someone else later that summer

Gonzalo Higuain is on his way to London to complete his £22million switch to Arsenal.
The Gunners have been close to the signing of the Argentinian and they are set to finally confirm the deal. Higuain, who has been told by Real Madrid that he is free to leave, will fly into London on Thursday evening for final talks.
That's from the daily mail site so it's probably false although is seemingly being reported in a few other places aswell.

Redmond played 42 times for Birmingham in the Championship last season, scoring twice, to earn an end-of-season call-up to the England Under-21 squad for the European Championship."

Proper chuffed with that signing I must say! Was a signing I could see happening due to the fact Hughton liked him a lot at Brum and there financial situation.

Showed such a poor attitude that other lad, it was his complete disrespect of his side that saw him almost in tears of desperation to get them promoted.
I kind of get it Mat, Sullivan winds me up a bit. To be fair, Dorrans wasn't and isn't worth £6m!

Well you gotta remember at the age Redmond is now, Ince had only made a couple of apps for Notts County.
If Redmond can show the development Ince has in the past few years, then he'll be very very good. If not then we aint lost too much monies

He definitely was worth £6m at the time, I'd have rejected that too! Unfortunately for him, his partner had a late miscarriage that summer, and he (understandably) took a long time to recover from that. He's had such a difficult time the last 2/3 years, I'm just glad he's still playing football.Dolphin Ziggler wrote:To be fair, Dorrans wasn't and isn't worth £6m!

Scott Carson's actually an excellent keeper, he was quality for the Albion and I was shocked when we sold him. Foster is better, but I think Carson even now is better than Ruddy, Butland, Stockdale or Green, and should be the #3 keeper for England.

That Carson 'mistake' was not the only one England made in that game, never mind the whole qualifying campaign. Better look to the other players who did jack all rather than pick on the goalie who made one mistake
