Wimbledon Day 8 or 9

There's some ladies on. I think I want Li Na to win this one, along with Lisicki and whoever. Maid Marion too.

So what is the difference in the Delpo-Ferrer matchup this year? Last year Ferrer crushed him here at Wimbledon.

Don't ask Stefan Edberg as that nightmare SF against Stich might resurface :laugh:That's the match that Edberg was never broken in a match of just seven break point chances
Crickey, they'd still be playing if there was no tie-breaks
Easily the worst SF I've ever seen and followd up by an even worse F
I remember thinking how appropriate the Kraftwerk hit, "We are the Robots" (in the charts around the time) was
A definite cautionary tale about the wish fulfillment for fast courts
I can imagine something like that nowadays with Janowicz and Raonic!!

My guess is that both aren't fully fit but DelPo's injury won't hamper him as much as Ferrer's. Ferrer needs his feet to move around the court and relentlessly chance everything, DelPo can just stay back and crush everything.

Ah Berdych, what a time to chuck in an awful service game. The better players would normally push on from there.

No sign that Ferrer is struggling to move - simply being blown off the court by the pace and flat hitting of Del Potro, who is just pummelling everything.

Why is Ferrer-Delpo on centre court? Shouldn't Djokovic play there?

Novak gets the double break back!
He ate some grapes and started playing brilliantly!
I wonder there's a Popeye/spinach thing going on?

so after djoko goes to the aussie bar and has a "walkabout" (not that bad was it?), he comes from 3-0 to lead 4-3 2nd set.

I tipped Del Potro for big things before Wimbledon, he seems to be living up to those expectations!!
Been a very good game so far, not ruling Ferrer out yet though!

Berdych wilts.
Novak two sets up.
Amazing comeback but, my goodness, Berdych bungled that last game. Shocking final point.

A couple more reasons Del P is thumping Ferrer - 75% first serves and only 10 UEs so far (of which 4 have been in the last 2 games, only 6 UEs to 3-3 in the 3rd with how he's been smiting the ball is incredible).

Last two forehand winners from Del Boy just summed up how he played today - if he can keep at that level in the semi final he will have a big chance against Djoko.

Insane tennis from Del Potro. Just noticed he didn't grunt this match. Seems to make him play better.

Now don't let it be said he isn't back at his 09 level. His level today is at least up with 09. And he's way better on grass these days.

If he keeps this level up I am sorry the Cyborg will have no chance, but can Del Po keep this level?

Is it me or has Delpo's serve improved? His elbow in the trophy pose used to be pretty high, I was under the impression it was lower today (like all great servers). He was unbreakable today.

His serves definetly improved, something that looks ultra dangerous, but what I see is grass is assisting servers pretty well, Novak is serving great so for Del Potro's level this was expected.
Del Po- Novak would be awesome to watch coz both are very good returners, Chy Del Po's serve was immortal for most part of the match, but what I was impressed is with the return which is catching my eye big time, this is the one thing that will hold waters against Djoko.
Bring the Cyborg , Roll on Del Potro

Re: Wimbledon Day 8 or 9
I think DelPo's serve has improved greatly. He used to have an ok serve for a man of his height it should of been better. It is better now and if he serves like that he will be difficult to stop. I won't see the match but I wish DelPo all the best against Djokovic and, at the very least, I hope his knee doesn't decide the result of the match.

Berdych itself should be sacked, I was desperately hoping for a Tomic win on Monday coz I know Berdy doesn't have a heart to fight inspite of given his natural abilities he made the worst of it.
Comparing Berdych to Del Potro is a shame to Del Po's work ethics and achievements.

Similar sentiments , I have to find a way to take off from my work to watch the match, but I better not watch it coz I would be more tensed and yes I don't want his knees to decide the result.

Hardly anybody in Court One for Janowicz vs Kubot...this is the smallest crowd I've seen for a quarterfinal, men or women.
Interestingly, commie just said that Radwanska is bigger in Poland than either of these guys....
There's just no atmosphere at this match!

Re: Wimbledon Day 8 or 9
Murray playing very safe at the moment. Clearly hoping Verdasco will beat himself in this first set. Risky tactic I think, putting the destiny of the set essentially on Verdasco's racquet.
I'd like to see him go big to the forehand on occasion.
