Wimbledon Day 8 or 9
First topic message reminder :
There's some ladies on. I think I want Li Na to win this one, along with Lisicki and whoever. Maid Marion too.

We need another left hander at the top of the game. Can we substitute Verdasco for Berdych?

Oh dear, 100mph forehands!! Verdasco deserves that set, he's been the aggressor. If Murray doesn't change his plan, he's going to get hammered.

Oh dear, first set if the tournament dropped.
Murray has to change how he's playing here. He's barely hit through it at all.

Better game from Murray there. Wow he needs this set. Very poor first set from him.

Great lob followed by a pathetic backhand from Nando.

There's a reason Murray leads him 8-1 in the H2H. If Verdasco keeps this up he'll win but will he? I doubt it.

Even if Nando keeps this up if Murray steps up Nando will lose, Murray birth instinct is to play defensive I guess, first set Boris was virtually crying on Murray defensive game that he is way too passive for his liking, its still not attacking yet but atleast improved.

I'm with you on that and he's stepping up now. A great attack will always beat a great defence - we saw that today on Centre Court earlier.

This is an absolute disaster so far...
Verdasco is serving pretty well, I'll give him that, but he's not doing much else. Murray shouldn't be struggling this much.

I'm afraid this performance goes down in the "bottled it" pile so far.

Goodness - the old negative, only pull my finger out when it's backs to the wall, Murray is playing this match. Let's hope he pulls through and learns his lesson for the next two (?) rounds.

Verdasco backhand really is working today. As much as i want Murray to win, Verdcasco is playing some superb tennis

Maybe not - 2 sets down now and playing like a lemon.
Lack of match practice against lefties? Andy's first lh opponent of the year, and he really doesn't seem to be getting his foot movement and stroke production right.

Oh my....
I don't believe what I'm seeing here! Murray's game has just gone. He doesn't look like he knows what to do.
Looks ominous.

Oh b%ll%cks - letting go of a break of Verdasco's serve from 0-40 is a very bad sign. He's going to get completely rumbled out of this unless something happens. He's already had one mini-surge that ended nowhere.

Verdasco is doing the right thing in slicing the backhand & pummeling the forehand with a mix of topspin and flat shots - great variety.... and its winning!
I wouldn't mind a couple more upsets in this year's Wimby...

I just don't understand what is going on in his head. This is a match he could practically win in his sleep. He's making awful errors, he's not hitting through the ball as hard as he usually does, he standing miles behind the baseline...
Utter disaster.

Feels like classic choke territory - the mind doing overtime which prevents him from playing without inhibition. He looks terribly tentative.

Re: Wimbledon Day 8 or 9
Murray is capable of winning 3 sets in a row against Verdasco, that's for sure... But he would need to play well to do so, and he's playing frankly awful!
I can't remember him playing this badly at Wimbledon. It's gone up a bit in this set, but still it's a million miles from what we've seen the last 18 months. Just got to hope he clings onto this set and gains some momentum to play better.

Re: Wimbledon Day 8 or 9
It's pretty obvious that, like football, good hair = good play
Seriously though, now Murray's up a break if he keeps holding serve he should really start hammering away at any second serves from Verdasco. Maybe he'll force Verdasco into going for a bit more on his serves, though with the way he's served today that might be like prodding a bear!!

I just came back from a day in the bush to find Verdasco two sets up (yay) and a break down (sheeet). Not to late to join the one man Nando bandwagon...

Still nervous. I forgot just how up and down Verdasco can be - the type of player Murray hates
I fear he'll go for broke at the start of this fourth set

I actually thought the first two sets were the worst I'd ever seen him play at a Slam.
