The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way back to London where the victorious British & Irish Lions squad will start their 25 day open bus journey across England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland - being greeted by millions of happy, proud, delirious, tipsy and slightly sunburned rugby fans.
So grab a beer, cider, whiskey or wine.... or a warm beverage and sit back and enjoy their well-earned procession through the streets where it all began.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of the legendary
Warren Gatland, Sam Warburton, Alex Corbisiero, Jonathan Sexton, George North, Jamie Roberts and Richie Gray.

What's the joke, whocares?
(That sounds wrong)
I'll be watching the hurling sf in a bit (Dublin v Cork) mainly to escape the footy fans returning from Wembley.

Is that a large hamster ROG has been made to take for walk? Could be a wabbit also. As I said... the French are really weird. But I love em or it.
Reminds me of the time DOC took his pet-halibut for a walk on a Lions Tour. When a fellow player asked what the hell he was doing, he told them and strolled on, unphased, with his halibut on a lead. Brilliant.

Yes sorry it wasnt clear...ROG as the other new coaches of racing has to take care of a rabbit... Guess it makes the goldfish a slightly better option.

Well done and Thomond. It was a cracking final I have to say (despite the result). Good couple of hours spent in O'Neills watching it on a proper telly too. I wandered up to the supermarket this morning wearing my Dubs shirt and was walking passed the pub. A bloke outside shouts to me "Scuse me young lady, is that a Cardiff Blues shirt you're wearing?" I says "No, it's a Dublin Gaelic games shirt" and he cherrily calls, "YAY MUNSTER!!!" Wasn't sure if he was taking the pish or if his Irish geography was bad...

I saw you posted on the GAA board Cari. I'm in Daly's in Wealdstone★. Good craic with my Irish friends.
★ Every pub in Wealdstone High St. is Irish. I quite often find myself there on a Fri or Sat night, when my usual haunt gets taken over by the louder elements of de yoof.
Plus I can walk home in a few minutes.

Probably not taking de pish. If you're not a rugby fan in Wales, I doubt you could totally differentiate between the two. Not many GAA fans in Wales surely?Cari wrote:Well done and Thomond. Bore da pawb / good morning all. I think I have tonsillitis. Or what's the dangly bit called, is it the uvula? That's really inflamed. I was heaving this morning because it felt like I was going to swallow it.

Lucky,
Do you have Hayfever?
I get a really itchy palate when the pollen count is high and then my uvula gets swollen.

Some folks say gargling with soluble aspirin helps so long as you can take aspirin.
Otherwise cold drinks and painkillers.

It's not as painful now as it was first thing, so hopefully it won't develop into anything.
Who do Ulster play in their pre-season warm-ups, MrsP? Looking forward to the new season? I can't wait for it now.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
We are doing the Dyslexia Double in Pre-season this year.
Leinster at Ravenhill 23rd and Leicester at Welford Road 31st.
We might have another away friendly too but I can't remember who.
The home game will be the first with the new stands which will be great as those 2 provinces have a lot of first/last fixtures between them in their histories.

Pretty sure Ulster are playing Leinster in a friendly/warm-up to mark the opening of the revamped Ravenhill at the end of the month, Lucky. 24th?

Two potentially tough matches there, but then you don't really want walkovers either because they don't really test you.

Leinster have Ulster away and Northampton at home on the last 2 Fridays of the month.
I have had hayfever. Got it bad as a youngster. Rarely troubled by it now.
Strangely enough I have a sore throat and a swolen vulva though..........

We don't have another friendly now. Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
Ok quick question for all those in the know:
We're meant to have exchanged contracts today (we signed everything last week and gave deposit). However, our solicitor hasn't rung to give us an update. We are looking for a completion of the 16th August and the other party are too.
On saturday we got a text from our mortgage lenders saying that they are releasing funds for a completion date of 15/08/13.
Does this mean we are definately completing on the 15th or 16th? Kind of need to know to book a van and plan my time off work!

Prop - I think that means that the funds will be released to the seller's bank on the 15th, then you collect the keys on 16th.
I seem to remember that's how it worked when I bought my place. The money will clear overnight then you pick the keys up.
For peace of mind I got the locks changed immediately.

Evening All.
Went to the quacks earlier. I spent more time on Cardiff Bus trying to get there on time (I made it with a minute to spare) than in the doctor's room. Still, I have some industrial strength antihistamines to hopefully make me look something close to normal...if I ever did
I can't wait for the new season either, but in the interim my new Lions DVD arrived today (woo hoo!) and there's The (was Tri-Nations) Championship to keep me amused.
Here, I read today that Jonny Wilko's on £48K a month! Gives you an idea of the sort of wage bills down in France eh?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
Exchange of contracts means that the contracts become binding. Until that point either side can walk away without penalty. How did you pay the funds in? Cheques and bankers drafts take 8 days to clear, card payments, free internet transfers and BACS payments 3 days and CHAPS and enhanced Internet transfers the same day. Is there a chain? If so it's not only the sellers that have to agree Friday with you, but every link in the chain, which leads to things taking longer. Get hold of your solicitor first thing tomorrow. Any queries my number is in the Fookbase pubprop_lyd wrote:Ok quick question for all those in the know:

Ta for that Glas. I transfered the money and it went in on friday. Luckily they are buying an empty property so only 2 in the chain and we both want the 16th. Just need the confirmation today! Left 3 messages and mrsprop is going to try tomorrow!
