I think he could get game time for games hughton decides to play 2 up front, which is rare. He will play atleast in the cup games though I would have thought

Norwich City FC @NorwichCityFC
4 - Goal for Fulham. Cauley Woodrow scores from the spot after he was hauled down by Dani Ayala. #ncfc 0-1 #ffc
I guess some things will never change

Expect a strong Norwich team tonight.
Been round to get autographs and there were no u21/18 players there but all first team players apart from ruddy and Redmond (however I believe he goes in main doors). No butterfield or fox either

I suppose you didn't want another embarrassment, of one of the biggest upsets in recent memory against Luton last season.
Fair enough from Chris Hughton.

A nice 6-3 win. Team looked more settled than they did on Saturday and more offensive. Elmander looked a handful And will be very very very unfortunate to not start Saturday.

Freek he missed a golden one, I'm sorry man
If Sebastien Bassong and Leroy Fer stay fit for the season, we'll be top half no doubt in my mind.
Fer for £4 million looks a ridiculous bit of business. Absolutely dominated the midfield today. To think he cost a third of what Wanyama did, my god. Hats off Chris Hughton to that signing
Oh and that Redmond lad looks like he might be a decent player too

Looking at our transfer dealings this window, and all the rush that has happened today, I'd think Chris Hughton and David McNally can sip their morning coffee knowing they've earnt their salaries.

Re: The official "Norwich City to 49 points and a 10th place finish" Thread
Cleared out most of the deadwood while strengthening the squad as a whole. A couple of disappointments but otherwise a very good window for us.
DEFENCE
Ins: Nash, Olsson, Garrido (permanent)
Outs: Camp, Steer, Barnett, Ward, Tierney, Francomb
GK – Ruddy, Bunn, Nash
If Ruddy doesn't get injured again, we're stronger in the goalkeeper department. Bunn should get fewer games but has proven to be competent cover. Nash is just a like-for-like replacement for Camp - ie shouldn't get any game time but there if needed. Rudd on a season long loan this time, the best thing for him. Losing Steer was disappointing but no big deal. He wasn't close to breaking into the squad and we have an abundance of good young 'keepers.
RB – R Martin, Whittaker
Much the same as last season but hopefully Whittaker's season won't be injury-hit like last. He's started the season strongly. Russ ready to step in if and when needed.
LB – Garrido, Olsson
Stronger than last season. Following his injury, Tierney didn't look up to Prem football with R Bennett & Whittaker being preferred to fill in for Garrido ahead of him. Perhaps strange Olsson hasn't been given a go yet but it's early days yet.
CB – Bassong, Turner, R Bennett, Ayala, (R Martin)
We could have done with signing another CB but I think we'll be okay. It's massively important that we keep Bassong fit. Turner & R Bennett proved they were good enough last season (just not when alongside each other) while Russ is capable cover. I expect Ayala to perhaps get loaned out when the window opens (next week?) The outs are no big losses. Liked Barnett but he struggled at times and wasn't involved much last season while Ward wasn't involved at all.
MIDFIELD
Ins: Redmond, Fer
Outs: Smith, Adeyemi, Butterfield, Surman
Strengthened. Kept big players from last season, shipped out those that didn't play any part and brought in quality in Redmond & Fer. Surman was injured for most of last season so him being out on loan doesn't weaken us. Fox still about. Perhaps might still go out on loan, perhaps Hughton'll eventually give him a chance?
FORWARDS
Ins: van Wolfswinkel, Hooper, Elmander (loan)
Outs: Holt, Jackson, C Martin, Vaughan
FW – van Wolfswinkel, Hooper, Elmander, Becchio
Strike-force last season was: Holt, Jackson, Morison/Becchio, Kane/Kamara. This season: RvW, Hooper, Elmander, Becchio. I think it's fair to say we've upgraded. Disappointing to lose Holt but it was probably the right time for him to go. Clearly didn't fit with Hughton's style and could've struggled again this season which would only have damaged his image. Best to leave while fans still have great memories of you and hold you in high regard. C Martin wasn't ready for the Prem. I like Jackson but he probably wasn't really good enough for the top flight. Vaughan's a funny one. I can understand why some wanted to keep him but for me, I don't think he was worth the risk. Never really know how many games he's going to be available for.
Also, hear pundits saying we've spent big which could be risky but I think we've done some great business. For example, we paid £4m for Fer which compared to the £12.5m Southampton paid for Wanyama and the £13m Everton have spent on McCarthy is an absolute steal. Then we got RvW and Hooper for a combined £13.5m, Southampton spent £15m just on Osvaldo. Hooper for £5m or Anichebe for £6m?

Boro fan here, we have signed Kei Kamara and Jacob Butterfield - just wanted your opinion on these guys. Lots of negative stuff on the Boro fanzines - wondering if theyll cut it in the championship?

I suggest those Boro fans get an understanding of football then.TheCelticGarbutt wrote:Boro fan here, we have signed Kei Kamara and Jacob Butterfield - just wanted your opinion on these guys. Lots of negative stuff on the Boro fanzines - wondering if theyll cut it in the championship?
Kamara is easily good enough for the Championship. Not the most technically gifted player, but a serious aerial threat and will bring sparks to games. Might not be prolific, but he'll cause problems for Champ defences no doubt.
Butterfield is an interesting one because he was great at Barnsley and then he had that injury, which he never seems to have recovered from. I still think he's got huge potential, two great feet, scores and creates goals, but it's just whether we'll ever see him fulfill his potential.
I think they're two pretty astute signings tbh mate. Those Boro fans need to sort themselves out

Norwich City FC @NorwichCityFC
City are pleased to confirm our Chief Executive @davidmcnally62 has been elected to the FA Council as a Premier League representative.
Good old Dave, in his ASKNCFC interview he answered many questions ranging from stadium expansion, to Lambert's departure, to player transfers. Main points to come from it were the stadium could be expanded to 35,000, but this will not be done until sufficient funds are available as he doesn't want to take away from the football budget. Also he said we missed out on a CB in the summer, presumably Alderweireld, he sounded pretty gutted about that.
So long as he's at the helm, we'll be alright

Villa at home, then Stoke away, both TV games, both very important games. 4 points should be the minimum for me.
Away form has to improve if we want to be pushing higher up the table

Another repeat scoreline from last season would be good.
4-1
2-1
All the same to me.
Carrow Road was a good hunting ground last season.
Game on TV, great time for Tekkers to bang a hatrick.
Will be a tough game. Again our defene aint great.
We do play better away though.
As I said before, need our midfield to start chipping in with a few goals.

Not good enough today. Don't care that we've missed a hatful of chances, it's a results business, and quite frankly only having 4 points after the 5 opening games we have had, is not good enough at all.
If we don't get anything at Stoke next Saturday he has to go.

Our League Cup games seem like they being played in an alternate universe to our league games.

What a difference a half makes eh Olly.
Could get a plum home tie in the next round. Plenty of big guns left.

I was rightNickisBHAFC wrote:Slightly ambitious IMO but in no means impossible.Olly wrote:Villa at home, then Stoke away, both TV games, both very important games. 4 points should be the minimum for me.
Away form has to improve if we want to be pushing higher up the table

David Fox, a key player in a team that played a lot better than this current incarnation, will be joining Barnsley on loan.

Not really football related, but loved my first ever trip to Norwich.
Lovely city and a top night out!
Sooo many subways! Literally like one on every road.
Couldn't understand people when they spoke.
