Benteke's penalties were both awful today, lucky to have gotten two goals from them to be honest, don't think he should be first choice penalty taker.
Not sure Walters should be taking the penalties for Stoke either, he's missed a few now although his penalty today was actually quite good just a good save from Mignolet.

Not sure how many he's missed, I think it was 3 of his last 5 which is nowhere near good enough.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
I always associate Walters with penalty misses. Not sure what else he does on a football field.
Regarding Mignolet it was probably a blessing in disguise him having to and saving a penalty after a shaky home league debut.
Just wish we'd put teams to bed earlier. Which we should have done today. But 3 points is 3 points.

Having watched MOTD, which incidentally seems to have made some desperate innovations to try and keep up with SKY, Arsenal were seriously unlucky: 2nd pen was never a pen, Kosceliny shouldn't have been sent off, and a Villa chap was very lucky to escape without a second yellow.
Still, it won't disguise the fact that Arsenal are in serious trouble, with no major investment in the squad made, and 4 high-pressure games around the corner (2 London derbies, and a 2-legged CL play-off). Wenger really has to go, or Arsenal are going to sink alarmingly quickly.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Didnt think the second one was a penalty.
But hey, every team will get a lucky decision this season.
First pen was poor alright, but fair play to Tekkers for following it up.
Some good saves by Guzan.
Poor defending by us again for their goal.
2 goals already for Tekkers, will score a lot this season I think.
Anyway good start to the season.
Be a tough game wednesday, looking forward to saturday and Liverpool.

Feel so sorry for Saldado, Lloris, Dembele, they have to play at and visit Selhurst Park. They don't deserve that.
Buzzing for Super Sunday today though! Missed it so much!

I actually quite like the new Match of the Day, don't think the changes were jarring, they just added some interesting statistics which didn't distract from the highlights. I also must be one of the few people who actually likes Alan Shearer as a pundit, I felt he was boring at first but has worked hard to be a lot more interesting and he's actually one of the pundits I prefer, I think he's better than the likes of Jamie Redknapp, Graeme Souness or Roy Keane.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Tottenham today, particularly one without Gareth Bale, hoping to see starts for most of the new boys. Expecting Capoue to play in central defence with a midfield trio of Sandro, Dembele and Paulinho, Soldado up front with Chadil and Lennon either side of him.

The MOTD changes are fine. The changes I hate are the ones ITV rolled out the other night. With the sound effects as a players name graphic slides on to screen.

Arsenal's threadbare squad is being tested to the very limits by injury and suspension with 7 players out/doubtful for the next game. They only have 16 fully-fit players available.
And it's only the first day of the season!

Ridiculous, it's all very well and good getting people off the wages, but if you don't replace them then you're left with a very poor squad. Gervinho is better than nobody.

Didn't think Vertonghen was fit, that Tottenham side looks strong, if they can keep Bale, I can see them actually putting up a decent title challenge to be honest. I don't think they'll win it, but they can push up for sure. Surprised to see Sigurdsson start, particularly in what appears to be a central role.
The Crystal Palace team looks pretty dire, I can't see anything but relegation for them.

I'm thinking we'll see two high scoring games today, can see Hull being bulldozed by Chelsea, predicted 6-1 in the podcast predictions.
Think Tottenham will win 3-0 today, goals from Soldado x2 and Sigurdsson.

Are we having the chatbox up today? Surely we'll have enough to keep it flowing.
Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Despite Palace team sucking, i can still see it being a very tight entertaining match, a bit like an fa cup match where its underdogs playing infront of a packed home stadium, with a crowd right behind them. However i can see Chelsea murdering Hull.

That is a solid spurs team, if Bale stays, they should easily make the top 4 with that team. Goals should flow from Soldado, Chadli etc. I can see spurs winning 4-1.

I am a happy palace fan. We almost got that draw. Dominated the last 20 mins..
Didn't expect the game to be so close. So happy. 2 much easier games to come.. If we can get 3 pts out them it will be an ok start

Palace defended well, but offered very little in terms of creativity and attack. It was easy for Tottenham, but their failure to put Palace away nearly cost them.

Tottenham needed a penalty to beat us as well.
