NHL, GSC.
He retired with 12 years and $77m remaining on his contract and signed for a Russian KHL team a few days later for a massive contract.
He screwed us because it was after all the best UFAs had been signed to new homes.

Ilya Kovalchuk, hot-shot NHL player, controversial contract, just upped sticks and 'retired' from his USA-based contract so he could go back to the motherland and rake in tax-free salary instead. A total craven.

Its not like happy gilmore at all. Different type of film. But it is still very good. It is supposed to be realistic from a bygone era. And that bygone era would have been awesome. Its not even about the actual sport of hockey in fairness. Its about another side to hockey- But I won't spoil it for you if you are going to watch it.GSC wrote:Not close really. You cannot either compare West Ham and Real Madrid for "state aid" or even claim we are getting particular state aid. Well, not unless you dont understand the stadium stuff anyway

Yep, I heard last night that it's 50/50 as to whether Anelka comes back after the weekend. I say cut our losses now, cancel his contract and sign another striker.

You wait till the players you saw come through go on to retire. Just players you saw is nothing, I became a fan as those players made their steps into the game!

It's when players younger than you retire, that's when you're in real trouble.

I remember Giggs making his debut, he's 40 this year. I remember Beckham, Scholes, Owen, Carragher, Anelka, their debuts. I remember David Seaman's first game for Arsenal. Ancient.

Went out in town a few weeks back (the first time in donkey's) and my god. Women fighting and swinging shoes at each other, lads young enough to be my son giving me the stare, doormen built like Jimmy Krankie unable to restore any kind of order and kebab prices ridiculously high!goldwolf wrote:Indeed I do Freek, I'm too afraid to go into town on a Saturday afternoon these days!

Which of the 3 o'clock kick offs is the best to watch today? I'm thinking of watching Newcastle v West Ham, Everton v West Brom might be good though.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Newcastle game is huge, defeat here and there could be ugly scenes in response to the Ashley/Kinnear situation and non-investment. We can't go four home game without winning or scoring, would be just unacceptable and a EPL record for the club. Interested to see if Cabaye plays. I don't see why he can't play, the 'head-turned' excuse is just embarrassing. We had an offer and we rejected it, has Arsenal come back.....no. Play him.

I wish Carroll was playing, he'd give the match another little storyline.
Wilshere is dropped by Wenger, Podolski in.
Sagna in central defence.

LINE-UPS - Fulham v Arsenal (1245 BST)
Fulham: Stockdale, Riether, Hughes, Hangeland, Riise, Duff, Parker, Sidwell, Taarabt, Kasami, Berbatov.
Subs: Ruiz, Kacaniklic, Karagounis, Briggs, Boateng, Etheridge, Bent.
Arsenal: Szczesny, Jenkinson, Sagna, Mertesacker, Gibbs, Rosicky, Ramsey, Walcott, Cazorla, Podolski, Giroud.
Subs: Wilshere, Monreal, Fabianski, Sanogo, Frimpong, Gnabry, Zelalem.
Awful bench for Arsenal again with only Wilshere who can really make an impact, good to see Podolski start though, a lot of speculation that he'll be sold before the end of the transfer window. Fulham look decent to be honest, really think they can give Arsenal some problems today.
