BTW I do rate Messi and ronaldo as the top 2 anyway as almost everyone does. However when it comes to messi especially(he doesn't do as well against pl opposition bar one great game against arsenal)

Disagree with Messi underperforming against British teams. Against Chelsea yes, but he's performed well against Arsenal and United, being a goalscorer against United in both Barca's CL finals against them.mystiroakey wrote:BTW I do rate Messi and ronaldo as the top 2 anyway as almost everyone does. Hard to say who the third best (offensive) player in the world is. Messi and Ronaldo are so far ahead of the rest you just end up with a plethora of great players who are behind them.

I've always liked Nani. On his day he's unstoppable. He's another one who's been unlucky with injuries. After his wonder game against Arsenal he was one of our best players that season and then unfortunately got injured, which seems to happen to him when he's building up some form.
A 5 year contract is what he needed. Stability after all the speculation of a move away. He'll feel settled now and hopefully this will give him the confidence he needs to kick on in his career. Still only 26. I'm very happy as a utd fan.

Surprised, another mistake in my opinion and just goes further to damage Zaha`s chances of development. United`s wingers are dreadful in my opinion. He was awful when negotiating a new deal, what will be like now he's not playing for a contract.GSC wrote:Nani signs a new 5 year contract

Happy enough with that, at the end of the day we can still sell him for a decent fee now if he isn't wanted.

Its Young we need rid of! since the first half of his 1st season, he's down sweet eff all since!
Nani
Zaha
Valencia
Decent set of wingers, Januzaj can hopefully get a few games there, along with Welbeck filling in.

Don't understand the negativity, he offers more overall than all our wingers and has always needed an arm around his shoulder and to feel wanted. That's what utd have done, hopefully with his injuries behind him he can perform to the levels he showed in 2010 and glimpses last season

I do feel Nani often gets unwarranted stick. Just take the results vs Liverpool He was the only one who looked a legit threat for United over the course of 90 mins coming off the bench. If Moyes can keep that kind of form in Nani then could be very wise tieing him down.

We have GSC but under certain managers players perform differently you just have to look at Gervinho
Under Wenger = Tripe
Under Rudi Garcia = Eden Hazard called him the best player he'd played with and learnt alot from him. was consistently scoring 15-20 goals a season, Expect he'll flourish at Roma under Garcia again tbh.

old boy demichelis injured lol!
gervinho is dreadful. he can't shoot, no composure, just plain awful. 15 goals a season in ligue 1 is hardly a sign your brilliant. I would not take Hazard's comments seriously, I'm mean teammates are always brown-nosing each other, claiming this, claiming that when there growing up.....did you see fantasy football on sky with merson? They had Dawson on there and he considered Aaron Lennon to be brilliant and found it difficult to not have him in his 'best XI'. LOL. I'm sure Gervinho will show signs of improvement in Serie A. Only because he will be played regularly against old, slow italian defenders with his pace. Arsenal are well rid in my opinion.

I thought this summer was a chance for United to sweep out some deadweight and let Moyes bring in a few to start building his own squad.
Instead they sign 1 relevant player and Nani gets a new contract

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
GSC - I think Moyes going in this summer and hauling players of experience out and stamping his authority early on, would of been a mistake. That squad has natural winners, who understand the league and were the Champions. Ferguson left a young team, therefore Moyes should give the side time to develop and in the process, Moyes himself, can settle into the job, familiarise himself with the club & the squad and then go big next summer. Evra will be sold, Vidic will be nearing the end, Anderson & I thought Nani could be sold, Giggs would of retired and then the Rooney situation would of come to a result. Moyes would then have freed up positions and could then go and bring in the players he wants. I'm sure Herrera will come, Luke Shaw will be a target, E. Garay may still be an option and then the AM position can be filled by a geniune world class player, who's available, instead of all this bidding for players that arent. Reus could a target next summer. It's about long term with Moyes, not short term desperate purchases for the sake of it in response to City.

Not a full scale change, but a few first teamers so Moyes has a few of his guys in the squad.
Funded by dumping player who have proven they aren't good enough in Nani, Anderson etc.
Both would help Moyes' authority and improve standards

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
There was an interview on TalkSport last night with a journalist who toured with the Dutch team this summer. He said he was very interested to see how RVP reacted to Moyes, so spoke to him about the appointment.
RVP said the gaffer (Fergie) had told him Moyes was an excellent coach and that he would really enjoy working with him, so RVP was excited as he trusted the word of Fergie.
Later on, when RVP had joined up with the squad in Sydney (I think), the journalist got in contact with Robin to see how things were going and whether his view had changed from working with him. RVP said he was loving it, the training was interesting and that Moyes was far more hands on, but the gaffer had definitely been right about Moyes.
Finally, before the season started they spoke once more. He asked the same question, had anything changed, and the response was about how he looked forward to training everyday and that replacing the gaffer was a near impossible task, but the one man who could do it was David Moyes.
That is pretty good news by my book. If you win over the star player who has less loyalty to the club than some others, I think you're onto a pretty good thing.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Something has to be done about it, they own Bankia around £600mil now and this is the bank that was the main beneficiary of a £19bil bail out. They have no intention of paying there loans back and the banks aren't interested in getting the money back so it creates such an uneven playing field. It's not just in spain but the whole of europe as well, teams like Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool work hard to balance their books so they can buy players when needed but realistically only have half of the £86mil to spend a year. Tottenham were near on break even over the summer purely because of the Bale sale as well as Huddlestone, Caulker and a few others.

I doubt you'd be anywhere near as valuable if you actually had to pay loan repayments and had government pay outs, with less money these world record signings would soon dry up. the training ground debacle was the worst of the lot.

Seriously get yourself a few hundred thousand pounds in debt, and tell the bank you can pay it off but first need £50k to finance an acquisition that might help your business look better, but do almost nothing for your debt situation.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Paying off our debt is pretty high up on the list of priorities, it's been reduced by £200mil in 8 years now, including the interest we have spent £56mil a year to bring the debt levels down. We're not like Madrid we don't leech off a dying economy.

I tried to explain before- no real did not have 85m liquid to buy bale. Its about cash flow, ability to borrow..kingraf wrote:Something does need to be done... Its not like Real dont have the money. its not all about profits or individual profits. but you know what if they did just borrow the money fairly fair play. The fact they are using bailed out banks(from predominantly germany and the uk(highest contributors to the EU) is pretty low . The reason why the UK and germany haven't hit the lows of spain in this recession is because our businesses do not do stupid things like this!!
Its not really Madrid we should blame its much deeper , the bigger blame is bankia(is that the name of the joined 7 spanish banks) bailed out by the net contributors of europe.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
My solution has always been to limit the debt to capital ratio of football or it could implode.. 30% to 70% is a prudent enough figure. Yes clubs can spend what they want but the owners must put capital in themselves over self given loans or financed loans!
Obviously the problem here is more about the the EU(which graf isn't really a part of)- If britain was bailed out do you think we would start using this money so man u could buy ronaldo for 100m!!!
no of course not. We would get rightly criticised!
Spain has cost the EU enough already and is sticking to fingers back up at it. But hey when it comes to football they would always rather have functioning clubs over putting back in the EU or making sure there population get fed and housed!!

Mystir - I actually completely understand your point. My point was that 1) Its not really Madrids fault.
2) If Madrid couldnt borrow, they would probably just re-direct their revenue to buy galacticos, the money they are making is truly ridiculous. I see your argument, but blaming Real is like blaming the kid in the liquidated candy shop for having eaten free candy...
