Buuuuuut - if you have the time to do them Olly, it's all up in admin, you just need to calculate, divide by 11 and then see if there are any extra goals for win votes.

Need:

 • Hero to vote on Fool Em/Saints
 • Cherries to vote on Ballbag/PSV

I can do the results without them but it doesn't seem fair, so I've posted them in admin and I will put them up here when we get them in.

Poppadoms a waste of time what do they offer who invented them bloody pointless. Paneer, kebabs, chicken all good. Chickpeas I hate them they should not be on the menu its not even food. For a bonus point what is the asian word for chickpeas? Don't Google it.

Poppadoms are alright. I didnt have many to be fair. The Paneer was really nice.
They have to offer veg food to hence the chickpeas.
Main course involved chicken, lamb, some dal, rice & few other things but I just remembered what I ate lolol.

Can I answer that question?? Im guessing its not for me as you know I know it.

Post by sodhat Wed 04 Sep 2013, 9:58 am

Glad t’be bach 1v1 FC ZwagAtlético
Nice set up by Zwag against a Gladbach side that aren’t quite there yet but getting close. It’s a case of frustration for them this afternoon I feel, they will be frustrated by Zwag and hit on the counter. They need someone to unlock the defence ahead of Xavi.

Ballbag 1vs1 PSV
Sorry to be boring and plump for a draw but it’s all I can see, I can’t pick a winner here. PSV are perhaps not expecting a wide attack from Ballbag, but they have a quality back four and energy in the midfield to deal with it. Ballbag are probably a little light in the middle and they may struggle to get the ball wide as they’d like to. Not sure what more I can say. Ballbag maybe need another winger and PSV lack a playmaking AM.

FC Basel 0v2 FC WHU Do you think you are
Basel’s defensive tactics read much better if you read them as innuendo. “get on top of your man” and “look to mop up any balls that come your way” were my favourites. In terms of the actual game it seems cherries has thrown the towel in and goes thoroughly negative here. I can see it working for a while but Lampard probably scores a deflected goal and Mandukic wraps it up when Basel open up a bit. Basel need some CMs because Neymar is totally isolated. WHU need to play Winston Reid when he’s fit again.

Southampton 1vs1 Fool Em
Tricky call but I’m going for a draw against two good sides with flaws. 4-4-2 works with Azzy’s personnel, but I think the left side is weak in that team and it matches up poorly against a good right side of the Saints side. I can see a goal coming from that side if Ramirez can release Ruiz. Fool Em have too much attacking quality and intent to lose by a goal though so I can see them snatching one back somehow. Saints could probably use another winger to supply Lukaku.

The Nodge 1-3 Lille
Kudos for the attacking intent for the Nodge but it feels like playing such a high line with only 3 defensive minded players will be a problem. It all rises and falls on whether Strootman and Fer can shackle Thauvin all game and stop him exploiting a 4v3 situation. I’m betting against and the wingers aren’t defensive minds either. They will get a goal through sheer persistance but against such a good defence clear chances come at a premium.

---------------------------------------

Glad t’be bach 0-0 FC ZwagAtlético

Does seem as though these 2 cancel each other out somewhat, and Zwags limited intent pays off

Glad t’be bach Good/Bad: Good side all over/Seems a bit reliant on Xavi to control the game

Zwag: Well organised side/Need more intent to win games

Would you dance, if Ajax you to dance 1-2 Corinthians

Shock win from Corinthians who look a better balanced team

Ajax: Great attacking force/Defense seems light
Corinthians: Change of formation pays off/lacks a real x factor

FC Basel 1-0 FC WHU Do you think you are

Gregers has thoroughly packed the midfield, but the lack of width really hurts

Basel: won big time on the flanks/need improvements all over bar up front
West Ham: Should win the midfield/Wide open on the flanks, center gets cramped

Southampton 1-2 Fool Em FC

Love the 4-4-2, and with Gastons free role, Pirlo and Nocerino take control of the midfield More firepower for Fulham pays off

Southampto: Good firepower, meh defense
Fulham: Very good strike duo/Holy odd left side. Some youth wouldn't hurt.

Norwich 2-3 Lille
Its going to be high scoring, though Lille 's big advantage outwide pays off

Norwich: Great attacking potential/At least use capable wingbacks
Lille: Good team all round/Not sure about Cassano leading the line

--------------------------------------------------

Gladbach 1-2 Zwag
Both teams need to improve defensively, great midfield battle. Hoilett not good enough.

Ajax 3-1 Corinthians
Ajax should play Varela and Eriksen AM. Corinthians need more quality throughout.

Ballbag 0-0 PSV
Attack vs defense but PSV get a deserved point, well organised.

Basel 1-0 West ham
Basel finally get a deserved win with a great tacticaal performance, i don't like west ham formation.

Southampton 1-1 Fool Em
couldn't split the teams

----------------------------------------------

Glad vs Zwag
1-0

Glad
Pro - Great pivot in the 2 and a solid defence
Con - Very little creativity, need a stronger CAM
Zwag
Pro - Turning QPR into a half decent side is a great effort
Con - I'd like to see wingers that actually get back as opposed to telling ones that dont to do so. Also Gerrard in a two man cm would get found out now

Ajax vs Corinth
2-0

Ajax
Pro - Best side in the league, no questions
Con - Why Milito over Luuk de Jong? Luuk I rate a lot whereas Milito is, imo, a bit past it now
Corinth
Pro - Better than last week for me with the 4-3-2-1 nerfing Ajax for large parts of the game
Con - Vidic still sicks out like a sore thumb, I'd like to see a wholey spanish/portuguese speaking side

Ballbag vs PSV
3-2

Ballbag
Pro - Herrera and Muniain crossing the ball into Drogba? Ouch!
Con - Only 6 subs show lack of depth, injuries could rip you apart!
PSV
Pro - A quality team all over on paper, especially Paulinho/Maher playing further back
Con - A lack of research into the opponents leaving generic tactics, no plan to handle Drogba

Southampton vs FoolEm
0-0

Saints
Pro - A very solid midfield, strike force and right back
Con - Lack of strength in depth, Danny Fox being a prime example...
FoolEm
Pro - Playing 4-4-2 and getting it to work, solid midfield pairing to make it worth as well
Con - Duff over Holtby? Okay... but only if you're wanting slightly less attacking which your tactics didnt suggest

Nodge vs Lille
1-3

Nodge
Pro - A strong central midfield with great tactics to nullify Lille's CAM
Con - Lack of Fullbacks leads to Navas and Grosskeuts dominating the game, especially with Cole and Coleman in behind them
Lille
Pro - The wings, they win the game here. Navas/Coleman and Grosskeuts/Cole absolutely destroy Nodge
Con - A relatively light midfield and an improvement on Cassano is needed

------------------------------------------------------

Glad t’be bach 1v1 FC ZwagAtlético

Would you dance, if Ajax you to dance 1v0 Corinthians

Southampton 2v2 Fool Em FC

The Nodge 2v1 Lille

Sorry bout lack of reasoning, tbh I'm kanckered and can barely keep my eyes open, I don't expect any bonus and will accept a punishment if needed
----------------------------------------------------------

Glad t’be bach 1 v 1 FC ZwagAtlético
Scorers: Bernard; Remy
Gladback Feedback: Like the team Hero, not a great fan of having your striker starting in offside positions pretty much out of the play though, especially one as intelligent as Villa. If you could still bring in a real physical spearhead to your team, it's there for me.
Zwag FEEDBACK: I like the tactics this week Zebs, I think it makes good use of your players. I think you are unlucky with injuries, someone like Barton would've added real bite to your midfield which is probably just lacking for me with Carrick/Gerrard. Feel putting Gerrard not Castro on Xavi was a mistake personally, don't fancy Carrick to handle Bernard alone.
General Comment: A really intriguing game here, with Zebs setting out his stall on the counter attack, which I feel is very effective. I like Hero's team, but instead of having Villa playing offside, I'd have him more involved with the play in that front four, would make it more effective for me. I've gone for a draw.

Would you dance, if Ajax you to dance 1 v 2 Corinthians
Scorers: Milito; Guerrero, Augusto
Ajax Feedback: You know my feedback on the LB situation Soddy, injury didn't help there this week. Still feel you could do with playing Varela left wing offering real width, especially with a fox like Milito in the box.
Corinthians Feedback: Really like how the team is shaping up Nando, think the defence is very good. I'd have probably played out and out wingers to get at the Ajax FB's though, but your FB's make up for it a bit.
General Comment: A good game this one, with Corinthians set up to play counter attack and flooded the midfield. Feel Ajax have enough to break them down on occasions, but they're vulnerable on the break, and I think Corinthians nick this game

Athletic Ballbag 2 v 3 PSV
Scorers: Munain, Dorgba; Agbonlahor, Bony x2
Ballbag Feedback: I'd have probably gone Townsend as a winger over Herrera, with him playing inside personally. Injuries have hurt you this week, especially at the back. Still love the signing of Drogba.
PSV Feedback: Not really sure Toivonen is best used as a pace man, don't think he really has it to be effective ala Gabby A. Like the midfield three a lot, and Bony is a beast.
General Comment: A interesting game, which is hard to call. Whilst PSV have the extra midfield man, Ballbag are looking to attack down the flanks, and with no PSV winger tracking the overlapping FB's, mismatches are created. However PSV are very strong on the counter attack as well, and Ballbag are weak with the injuries at CB. I think PSV just nick this game, will be high scoring though

FC Basel 0 v 2 FC WHU Do you think you are
Scorers: Cole, Lampard
Basel Feedback: It's certainly an interesting lineup Cherries, not really sure why you've gone so defensive leaving Neymar isolated, I much preferred your lineup last week, which I thought was good and with another CM could be really built on.
West Ham Feedback: I'd have probably gone with proper widemen today as Basel are weak at FB and Mandzukic needs quality crosses to feed off. Love the array of midfielders you have though, would be hard to drop one of those deeper 4.
General Comment: I think Basel have setup too defensively today, and despite West Ham's lack of wingers, I still feel they'll create more than enough chances to win the game. Leaving Neymar isolated up top, and pretty much taken out of the game not a good move.

Southampton 2 v 2 Fool Em FC
Scorers: Lallana, Lukaku; Benteke, Giacherrini
Saints Feedback: I like your setup, would've gone with Rodriguez over Ruiz though. Injuries have hurt you this week at LB especially and you miss Lovren, but I still think you offer a good attacking threat. Might have gone with Barkley CAM and Schneiderlin CM, really like Schneiderlin very underrated CM for me.
Fulham Feedback: I like the setup to have a real go at Saints today, and it works to some extent. Not really sure Pirlo has got the legs to harry a 3 man midfield in a midfield 2 though. I like Duff on the right, where he can cut in, don't think he has the pace to trouble people playing on the left though.
General Comment: This is a draw in my book. Whilst Saints dominate possession, and can cut open Fulham at times, Fulham have really gone with an effective attacking line up as well, and it evens out to a draw for me.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Glad t’be bach 2-2 FC ZwagAtlético
(Villa, Bernard) (Candreva, Remy)
Good: Gladbach now have arguably the best CM pairing in the league, Zwag have a lot of pace in their side.
Bad: Gladbach need to improve their AM's, Zwag could also do with a new AM, or play Taarabt there. Would be ideal IMO.

Would you dance, if Ajax you to dance 2-2 Corinthians
(Milito, Mirallas) (Arteta, Prieto)
Good: Ajax have a solid midfield and attack which can be built on, Corinthians did well to plug the midfield today and their defence is one of the strongest.
Bad: Ajax are wasting Eriksen on the wing, he could be the difference for you at AM. Corinthians need to continue what they're doing and improve across the pitch.

Athletic Ballbag 2-2 PSV
(Drogba, Muniain) (Bony, Agbonlahor)
Good: Ballbag have a great balance to their side and a good core. PSV have a great defence which earned them a draw today.
Bad: Ballbag need to add strength to their CM if playing 4-4-2 or they could be outdone. PSV need to improve in midfield and on the wings to turn draws into wins.

FC Basel 1-0 FC WHU Do you think you are
(Neymar)
Good: Basel plugging the midfield and being strong numerically in defence, leaving Neymar to do the majority of attacking is best for now. WHU have some quality midfielders in their squad.
Bad: Basel's other 10 players. They're alright but not good enough. WHU, being too narrow if this system is used against others, and thinking Noble could mark Neymar out of a game. As far as today's game goes, couldn't break down the banks of 5 and 4.

Lille 2-1 The Nodge
(Großkreutz, Thauvin) (Van Wolfswinkel)
Good: Lille have recruited well and have one of the best squads in the league. Nodge have a great CM duo and strong firepower.
Bad: Lille, hard to rate Thauvin when he hasn't played IRL for a while but now that may change. Nodge, need to play wingbacks instead of wingers in a 3-4-1-2, costs them the game as Lille pick them off on the break and it's always 4 on 3/5 on 4.

----------------------------------------------------------

Gladbach 1-1 QPR

Gladbach
GP: Bernard dicking on Jallet
BP: Need a RB

QPR
GP: Top quality midfield

BP: Need better Am/Defense

Bilbao 2-1 PSV

Bilbao

GP: Lots of width

BP: CB injuries will cost you need better cover

PSV
GP: Like the formation, well thought out tactics

BP:Schaars/Pieters need improving on

Basel 0-2 West Ham

Basel

GP: Neymar

BP: The rest of the side

West Ham
GP: You've won and strong tactics

BP: You probably won't against a better side with that formation/not enough width

Fulham 1-1 Southampton

Fulham

GP: Top quality midfield bar Duff

BP: No one likes 4-4-2 and i don't think the players your using would work 4-4-2 well

Southampton
GP: Front 4 top quality

BP: Need better cover at the back

Norwich 2-1 Lille

Norwich

GP: Optimistic formation love the attacking intent

BP: Need better LW/AM to be effective

Lille
GP:Solid back 4

BP: Need more upfront and in centre of the park

--------------------------------------------------------------

Ajax 0-0 Corinthians
Neither team did enough to win, bit of a bore stalemate. Both defenses played well & handled what was thrown at them.
Ajax: Good - Varela comming on for Eriksen & giving more balanced width. Bad - Eriksen on the left, didnt balance with Mirallas on the right.
Corinthians: Good - Strong defense led by Vidic were rarely troubled. Bad - Front three, not enough to trouble teams.

Athletic Ballbag 2-1 PSV
Drogba, Munian - Bony
Good match, Ballbag take the victory in a match they controlled. PSV threatened with their pace attacking but didnt have enough to win.
Ballbag: Good- Tactical change to strengthen defensive play when winning. Bad - Central defense could do with an upgrade.
PSV: Good - Agbonlahor, really puts defenders under. Bad - Schaars isnt good enough to control a match.

FC Basel 0-4 FC WHU
N/A - Mandzukic x 3, Lampard
FC WHU walked to a convincing win. Their attack was far too much for FC Basel.
FC Basel: Good - Neymar. Bad - Defense & all round lack of quality anywhere else.
FC WHU: Good - Midfield trio of Lampard, Verratti & Diame bossed the match. Bad - Defense could struggle against an all round better attacking team.

Southampton 3-0 Fool Em FC
Ramirez, Lukaku, Ruiz - N/A
Tight match today and the improving Southampton took the fight to Fool Em FC.
Southampton: Good - Wanyama & Barkley make a good pairing, its encouraging. Bad - Could do with an upgrade in the CB department.
Fool Em FC: Good - Well organised. Bad - 442 doesn't work anymore.

Lille 2-0 The Nodge
Navas, Thauvin - N/A
Lille's set up was pretty much spot on in anticipating how The Nodge would play. This game them the edge.
Lille: Good - Spot on with what to expect form their opponents, well scouted!! Bad - Could do with a upgrade on goalkeeper.
The Nodge: Good -Cant actually think of anything good from this tactical setup, sorry. Bad - Playing a really high line, three at the back with a winger & fullback acting as fullbacks/wingers bit unsure but it left space for Lille to play as instructed.

------------------------------------------------------

Glad t’be bach 1-1 FC ZwagAtlético
Would you dance, if Ajax you to dance 1-1 Corinthians
FC Basel 1-2 FC WHU Do you think you are
Southampton 2-2 Fool Em FC
Lille 2-1 The Nodge

-------------------------------------------------------

Ajax 3-1 Corinthians

Whilst Corinthians try and cram midfield and hit on the break I feel the quality of the Ajax side is just too much for them and I’d suspect Gargano may have an early bath with the tactics to kick Eriksen hard.

Bilbao 1-2 PSV

Not keen at all on Herrera out wide, don’t think it plays to his strengths and the injuries to the back line were crippling beyond belief, with the speed of Agbonlahor and the physical presence of Bony I think Bilbao will struggle to contain them.

Basel 0-2 West Ham

Eggs in a basket. If Neymar stands in a forest and no-one ever gets the ball to him does he remain a star player? A lost and isolated figure up top, if you want to blow your budget on one player get one that’s in the centre of the pitch dictating play.

Norwich 2-4 Lille

Cavalier approach by Norwich that ultimately backfires against attacking players such as Navas, Cassano and Grobkreutz, attacking down the flanks by Lille against forward wingbacks exposes frailties in the Norwich back line.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Glad t’be bach 0-0 FC ZwagAtlético
Summary: Two fairly even teams, both slightly lacking on the flanks. A stalemate.
Bach Good / Bad: Fantastic DM + CB partnerships / FBs and wingers definitely need improving to cope with the best sides
Zwag Good / Bad: Carrick and Gerrard are a dream team / not sure you'd get much out of Hoilett at LW

Would you dance, if Ajax you to dance 2-0 Corinthians
Scorers: De Jong + Eriksen
Summary: One excellently rounded side, one side that is solid defensively but completely lacking up front. Not much of a contest.
Ajax Good / Bad: Good forward four / I think the defense may be suspect up against the very best forward lines
Cozza Good / Bad: Excellent defense / no cutting edge up front

Athletic Ballbag 2-0 PSV
Scorers: Drogba x2
Summary: PSV lacked width and it cost them, as Ballbag took the apart from wide. Shame, as the CM three would have trumped Ballbag's two.
Ballbag Good / Bad: Went with the risky wide tactic and it worked / that defence looks quite take-apart-able to me
PSV Good / Bad: Midfield three is tasty / Bony needs more support

FC Basel 0-1 FC WHU Do you think you are
Scorer: Lampard (penalty)
Summary: A real snooze fest, the midfield was so bogged down that Neymar struggled to get on the ball,
Basel Good / Bad: Neymar / the other 10
WHU Good / Bad: Mandzukic is a quality striker / he got next to no service as you played 5 central midfielders and the FBs were pinned back

Lille 2-1 The Nodge
Scorers: Cassano + Navas / Hooper
Summary: Lille are solid all over the shop, and Nodge couldn't handle their game today.
Lille Good / Bad: Navas supported by Coleman is a dangerous unit for any side to deal with / not sure Thauvin wanted to play for Lille
Nodge Good / Bad: Good strikeforce / if you're playing three at the back, the wingers/WBs have to be much better defensively.

If Danny Fox is starting ahead of Luke Shaw IRL, how comes he's so underrated here? Twice I've been forced to play him (three times this week) as Shaw keeps being injured, yet he's the target for criticism!

I'll sell you Danny Blind if you like.

But he was also being criticised. Although mostly just by Olly.

Just ignore it mate. Someone obviously on the wind up.
I get told Taarabt cant play left, play him central & build around him, when I do I get told hes rubbish now today I have one person saying I should play Taarabt as the AM as he would be great there. Every week one person mentions Joey Barton, how my central mid is screaming out for him.
In fact, dont ignore it Marky as it will just go on for weeks & weeks and eat at you.

I think Taarabt should play AM, anyone who thinks he's rubbish at AM needs their head checking. He doesn't track back enough to play wide.

How do you judge players like Taarabt on these games? We all know he never performs game after game so how do you rate him on here when voting?

Depends who's marking him, the formation, the opposition formation etc.

For example, if the opposition don't have a DM marking him, he's more dangerous and more likely to have an impact.

Thats the tricky thing. It clear Taarabt has quality in him, his goal against Fulham last season, just great.
But people go on real life form, not the ability of the player. So on that theres no point in me playing him.
Im actually surprised Castro didnt get a mention from anyone in feedback. 2011/12 he scored goals, fantastic last season & has 2 goals/1 assist in 6 all competition matches so far this season.

Is there a need to play a dedicated DM in these leagues? I'd expect to be marked down if I didn't play one but I do think in real life you can get away with it.

You need a balanced midfield, but it depends what you mean by a dedicated DM.
