First topic message reminder :

Am thinking of going in February for 3 or 4 nights, anyone got any advice about hotels, places to visit etc? Have had a virtual drive-round on google maps and it looks like a giant suburb.

Were they for you to share or did you each get a pair?

Just had a look at Hi Tec trainers on google images and can't say I'm too impressed.

Whereas I just looked at Hi-Tec boots on google image and I can now see what all the fuss is about. Sleek, attractive, colourful and not at all cumbersome looking. I am going to have to order me some of those bad boys.

I'm still confused how you can wear those things in hot weather though. You don't wear them with cargo shorts do you?

We each got a pair of the same trainers. I've honestly never been so well behaved. It has traumatised me for life.

That and the Donnay socks she used to buy. I'd chuck them straight in the bin.

I have to rather embarrassingly say that because I can't be ar5ed with shopping, my missus buys all my clothes. As a result I have a large collection of skinny jeans ans several pairs of winkle pickers. I long for the comfort of some Hi Tech boots and a weather proof coat.

seany, never sacrifice style for pragmatism. Who wants to look like Ray Mears?

I love shopping. I am taking my eldest daughter out shopping in Cambridge tomorrow. Can't wait.

I'd never let Mrs Windows buy my clothes. That is embarrassing.

That's the problem with fashion. If it is nice but cheap then everyone will have it, so you can't wear it anyway.

And if it is nice and everybody doesn't have it, then it is expensive. My Armani shell suit cost me 300 quid.

To be honest she does a fairly decent job as my success last Saturday proved. Have a day / night out tomorrow as she's away so will go for the double.

and by the way, that is the second most camp thing I've heard on 606

It was a definite hit. Why would she ask if I had a girlfriend otherwise?

Isn't the Bicester shopping place near you?

Perhaps she was just confirming in her own mind that no female would actually be attracted to Catweasel.

It is the outlet place. Just up the M40. Thought it would be well on the radar of a chap who is in touch with his feminine side.

Less of the catweasle by the way, i'll take Jurgen Klopp but not catweasle. He was a communist.

Be careful with these man traps Sean. A mate of mine was set up by his girlfriend. Her mate was a fallen angel, she was beautiful and she asked him if she had a girlfriend. Well the default answer with someone as hot as her was no. She was not impressed.

I told her I had a bird. She caught me on the back foot and quite frankly scared me a bit with her directness. It was a fillip for my self confidence hence why I want to sit in the pub on Saturday and see if it happens again.

Could be quite good for seal-hunting and (relieved to steer it back towards Reykjavik) tracking soon-to-be-dead polar bears.

Have you been put off going to reykjavik? Why don't you just try one of the Scottish Isles? They are bound to be cold, wind swept and smell of fish as well as having seals? Only let down is that they are probably not as welcoming to gays as the people of Reykjavik.

@Lumbering_Jack, the coat is waterproof so I just wrap a bit around my (extra small) c0ck and save money.
Why don't you start a SA thread, get some advice on sites to see etc? Or have you been there before?

I went down a mine shaft in South Africa. Scariest thing I have ever done. I had to bail out after about 10 minutes.

Anyway, when are you back? Do you want the next couple of Culture Cup questions?

I just read through this thread from the beginning. Apart from the Trussman interruptions and one or two offerings from michaels, it is a genuine classic. You should wear it as a badge of honour, Galted.

I'm not insecure.

I have a few good stories about SA actually. We made the news out there as our bus caught fire burning all our kit and clothes (cricket tour).

There are closer places than SA for that.

That would be AIDS tourism not $ex tourism.

Going to the bush for pleasure because I'm sick of innuendos. Definitely not going for business, the furthest these cheap cnuts I work for have sent me is Birmingham.

All saffas eat is mammal. Are you going to struggle?

I went to a Zulu village when I was there. We went in to one of their huts and ate something that looked like render but tasted worse. Then these big fat old school women cam in and started dancing (in a fashion). They were doing these kicks up to their heads (like Van Damme would) and we had no choice but to cop an eyeful of growler.

Great shopping centre in Birmingham. The Bull Ring.

My wife bought me tickets to see Snow Patrol in Birmingham once. Carling Academy. I f*cking hate Snow Patrol.

Innuendos are pretty cheap. Anyway, have a nice time foraging around in the bush.

Cheers, I will, but still a few days left for directionless anecdotary.

I am actually quite fond of Birmingham, haven't been to the new Bull Ring but remember the sh1tty old market.

I've only ever been to the NIA and the NEC in Birmingham. Never actually been to the city though. Is it worth a visit?

Probably not.  It's possible I like it in the way some people enjoy self-harming.

I've only been to the Carling Academy and I'm not even sure if that is still around.  Went to a very nice restaurant in the old jewellery quarter as well but that definitely isn't there now.

I went to Villa park once on a works do to watch the England footy team.  Think it was 1-1 and some young scamp with bleach blond hair scored for England.  Could have been against Portugal I think.

That was all very interesting, wasn't it.

That was in 2002 and it was Alan Smith that scored.

On my last visit to Villa Park I sat in a box full of Geordies at the away end (when it was still behind the goal) and Duncan Ferguson headed in the only goal of the game for Newcastle right in front of us. Was pretty f*****g annoying.
