Yeah maybe Ent. But that was some performance today with a bit of pressure as he was already talked up pre game with Hodgson watching on.
But then you did some how big up your boy Jones who imo may not become the finished article.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
That is the thing Di Matteo brought Chelsea their biggest trophy ever, the biggest trophy in club football and to throw him under the bus to go back to defend and counter football for a club with Chelsea's resources is a bit cynical. I am sure Mourhino will bring trophies and like you said the current team is not composed the way that he would like it. I am sure they will be better in year 2 and by the end of this season then they are now. Still the league is duller for it to have players like Hazard and Mata going to waste. Mata was a player of the year candidate last season now he rarely plays. I also think he made a terrible decision bringing in Eto and letting Lukaku go out on loan.CFCNick wrote:The problem is that this isn't a squad fit for a Mourinho system. The first time around we had grafters like Geremi, Tiago, Smertin, Drogba, Joe Cole, Bridge, and even Gudjohnsen. That's why Oscar and Schurrle are the preferred players now. They put a shift in defensively too. Hazard is starting to adapt and Mata isn't.socal1976 wrote:Fair enough I appreciate what your saying and Chelsea have had a great deal of success in recent years but I honestly don't know if his formula is the best for this particular Chelsea team with the young talent and technical players he has in midfield. As a neutral he leaves me completely cold. When they had Di matteo I honestly enjoyed their matches a lot more, they may end up winning the league with Mourhino. But as a neutral I generally root for teams that play the style I like to watch to do well and root against managers who play joy killing football.CFCNick wrote:It's fun when you win. I've said it somewhere on this site before. I don't care as long as we score more than the other team I'm happy. I might feel bored if I wasn't a fan but I'm so emotionally tied to the team that I'm fixated no matter the style.
I can appreciate pretty plays in all sports but when it's my own team only the result matters.
The football under Di Matteo was probably the most exciting we've had it. I lost some passion under AVB but that 2nd leg against Napoli when Ivanovic scored in extra time was epic and the biggest I jeered a win since the double in 2010. That was just an awesome team performance and fight back from a 3-1 1st leg deficit.

Lallana's always been quality for Saints, he was last season as well. He's a really underrated footballer, more than deserving of his call up.

Fully deserves his call up, still not evidence that England are producing quality players again.

I'm not sure he will but he looked quality for Blackburn and in his first season for us.mystiroakey wrote:Yeah maybe Ent. But that was some performance today with a bit of pressure as he was already talked up pre game with Hodgson watching on.

Equally you could have said oxlaide chamberlain, Wilshire or even someone like Sturridge as evidence players are being produced.

Just realised that Suarez has already caught up to Aguero and Sturridge at the top of the goal scoring rankings. If he keeps this form up he'll be top goalscorer for sure, just needs to avoid any silly suspensions.

If United lose, they are out of the title race I think and Moyes may have to start considering the Champions League as the priority.
The thing in United's favour is that the players are used to winning these high pressure, big games, the Arsenal players are not.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Ent - a very important game today for United, particularly as to how your fans will most likely see things and react. A win and you are just 3 more points off second spot with renewed belief. A defeat and you trail leaders Arsenal by as many as 11 points with increased trauma and despair.Ent wrote:Buzzing now it's match day, forgetting myself and actually starting to think we will win.
I'm certainly no expert - my Premier League watching is confined to MOTD and the odd game on SKY - but do feel Moyes' management and United's chances this season have been savaged too much and too quickly. You are clearly a team in transformation but still retain the ability to score a fair few goals, including importantly (and unlike some of the other top teams) from players coming off the bench. That won't get you the title but, if everyone can keep their composure, it should see you staying in the mix.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
United could still theoretically beat anyone on there day IMO, they have players that can pertform and win games on there own (rooney and RVP)
They just dont have enough quality to do it week in week out.
This game has no bearing on the future. But a good match up all the same.
If United want to get right back in contentioin they better hope they are not out of touch by January and then add a few WC players l.

I want to see Van Persie miss a 90th minute penalty today, which sparks into a brawl between all the players.

Pressures always on, nothing new there - would be interesting to see what happens to arsenal if they lose.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Pardew tactics spot on, Spurs are shocking. Remy is classy, knew he'd bang goals for us. Gouffran is doing an immense job on Townsend & the woeful Walker.
All that said though, we never reproduce good first half performances into a full 90 mins away from home. Spurs will probably still nick this 2 / 1.

I think that's a bit harsh on Townsend dude..
Soldado isn't scoring due his own failings as much as anyone else. AVB needs to use Defoe more in these bigger more important games and stop trying to justify the spending on Soldado so quickly.

It's not harsh, at least twice this half he's shot when he's had players in better positions. Walker must be so peed off, he's constantly got the overlap.
He's not Bale, needs to play for the team more

Agree with Townsend, it's just selfish and it will just aggravate supporters and his team mates. Take it past you're full back and cross it in. Solaldo is crap though.

He is also still buzzing from hitting long shots and winning games for England and Tottenham. So its justifiable that Townsend is having a few shots to make something happen.
As we speak defoe does well in the box and a great take and pass, but that keeper is on fire!! Sometimes the keeper wins you games!

well done newcastle
furious with our first half performance, where the game was lost. pathetic. dont understand how lloris can play on moments after being knocked out yet has to miss the next two games. and what was with the bbc saying avb was starting lloris?
where is danny rose?? why didnt sandro start?
dawson is a liability. paulinho has been poor imo.
poor team selection yet again, although todays wasnt terrible. why are we playing eriksen in the cups, europe and the league?
i think avb's position is now in doubt
