Didn't deserve anything today. Performance was flatter than an ironing board.socal1976 wrote:West Brom is a quality side I really like how they play, didn't see the match but is a shame if the PK was unfair. I prefer the defensive style. It works. Most of the time anyway......
Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
It allways works CFC, problem is how can you justify playing that way against lesser teams. JM needs to sort this style of play out- You need to be able to play both ways

Sure it works, but isn't football supposed to be fun to watch, I find Mourhino teams to be duller than crap. He almost found away to make Real Madrid boring except that they had so many technically gifted players like Ozil and Ronaldo that even Mourhino couldn't manage the trick. I know it is effective, it has produced Mourhino millions of dollars and a full trophy case. But as a neutral I would rather watch Southampton or Swansea than Chelsea. And that is saying a lot when Chelsea features players as enjoyable to watch as Oscar, Hazard, and Mata. If he coached 1970 Brazil he probably would have benched Pele because he failed to track back. Great manager, very effective, but like I said as a neutral I would rather fill out my tax return than watch his teams play.CFCNick wrote:Didn't deserve anything today. It's fun when you win. I've said it somewhere on this site before. I don't care as long as we score more than the other team I'm happy. I might feel bored if I wasn't a fan but I'm so emotionally tied to the team that I'm fixated no matter the style.
I can appreciate pretty plays in all sports but when it's my own team only the result matters.

This isn't two premier league teams. One went off at half time and came out to give some goals away

Fair enough I appreciate what your saying and Chelsea have had a great deal of success in recent years but I honestly don't know if his formula is the best for this particular Chelsea team with the young talent and technical players he has in midfield. As a neutral he leaves me completely cold. When they had Di matteo I honestly enjoyed their matches a lot more, they may end up winning the league with Mourhino. But as a neutral I generally root for teams that play the style I like to watch to do well and root against managers who play joy killing football.CFCNick wrote:It's fun when you win. Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
The problem is that this isn't a squad fit for a Mourinho system. The first time around we had grafters like Geremi, Tiago, Smertin, Drogba, Joe Cole, Bridge, and even Gudjohnsen. That's why Oscar and Schurrle are the preferred players now. They put a shift in defensively too. Hazard is starting to adapt and Mata isn't.socal1976 wrote:Fair enough I appreciate what your saying and Chelsea have had a great deal of success in recent years but I honestly don't know if his formula is the best for this particular Chelsea team with the young talent and technical players he has in midfield. The football under Di Matteo was probably the most exciting we've had it. I lost some passion under AVB but that 2nd leg against Napoli when Ivanovic scored in extra time was epic and the biggest I jeered a win since the double in 2010. That was just an awesome team performance and fight back from a 3-1 1st leg deficit.
Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
I don't even care if we've played crap today, which it sounds like we have, we've got the 3 points and that's all that matters!
Makes a change from playing well and not winning which we've been doing pre Man City game.
Will need to see all the goals and stuff later, chuffed!

I have the solution to diving....Punting
If they go down like Wayne Rooney on a hooker then give them a punt and give them a reason to be on the floor i suspect many will try to avoid that

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Yeah, it's a shocker. It happens. Seen much worse in La Liga over recent years, especially in favour of Real Madrid in particular. There's not much we can do or discuss, won't change the outcome. Sure Marriner won't be seen until well after the International break.....but then he will be back.
One things for sure, if Chelsea continue to play like this, they ain't winning the league. Whereby Arsenal seem to have found the correct balance, the complete opposite can be said of Chelsea right now. Hazard & Willian don't work for the team & if anything today's result has just re-confirmed what Jose already knew about some of his players. Also, Azpilicueta is not a left back & Lampard can't control midfield's nowadays. Shocker from Cech too. I still think it will take some time, maybe even into next season for this to become Jose's desired team. Lukaku up front, bringing into play players like Mata & co. is the way forward in my opinion. Eto'o just doesn't do it for me & Torres is only effective away from home on the counter where more space is available. Many issues for Jose to sort out.

We cant change results but we can and should be able to punish players post games for this sort of behaviour, Then they would think twice

Hmm, interesting game. Not the greatest mind.
Chelsea looked ponderous and lacked urgency until 2-1.
West Brom took their chances.
As for the penalty, it was undoubtedly soft. Enough on that

Must admit seeing that penalty, it's a very soft one on Hooper. I wouldn't be happy if it was given against Norwich put it that way...(although wtf Jussi is doing I dunno, dropped a clanger)
2nd and 3rd goals all come from Leroy Fer and Jonny Howson's awesomeness

Cracking goal from Bacuna.
Certainly takes a good free kick.
Very worried about Benteke. Will be very surprised if he doesn't go in january.
You can see he is very frustrated, understandably so, as he's not getting the service.
Although when we go more than 7 hours without a goal, i dont care who scores.
Noticed he was very slow to congratulate the 2 scorers.
To me just doesn't seem to interested. Just waiting for the window to open.
If he does go, we need to sort it out at the start of january, then use the money to sign a new striker.
I know he signed a new contract, but dont think he wants to play for us anymore and wants out asap.

Not sure he is doing enough to attract a top club though west.
He was better end of last season yet no one went for him,
He needs to pull his socks up , because his best way out is to actually play better, it's a catch 22

I fail to see how a 25 year old in his first top flight season is evidence top players are being produced again no matter how well he is playing - one actually might say the opposite.
Far more players to talk about from that point of view - Barkley, jones etc

Many players take time to mature or reach potential. sadly many of them don't get the chance because foreign imports are bought instead. So in actual fact him being 25 could be seen as more telling that we producing players. They just need a sustained run out in the PL.
