I like our second row combo. Was hesitant about lawes coming in...but he's been a wise pick. He will take parlings spot permanently i think.
Launcbury reminds me Richard hill. Not sayin the same standard...but he just patrols around unassuming and with no fuss and does everything well.

agree. its all well and good to spin it around and try to be innovative when you're 15 point up vs Arg. try that against NZ and they'll probably scored a good% of the interceptions or surprise turnoversCowshot wrote:This game has gone rather flat. Needs the forwards to take a grip I think.

I asked how Argentina got back in to this game. Didn't expect the England team to provide me with the answer!

Its more of a case of argie being non competitive in the first half and now fronting up. England were doing what they wanted to first half and perhaps expected the same, whereas Argie are now at least mixing it up.

Argentina have got off the plane at half time? It england tłok the foot off the gas? Maybe just kemping their powder dry with the game beyond doubt. Either way the second half has been dire.

(midfield was Dawson's word, not mine
I point the finger at Farrell a lot for this sort of thing. It may be old fashioned but I expect the Fly half to read the game and provide direction to the Backs, particularly in attack.

Not good in the 2nd half but in the end, it was a convincing score for England. They've built some nice momentum ready for the All Blacks.

Re: England 15 for Argentina
Oh Farrell has his strengths. And I think he is improving and I'm not sure Flood's a better option these days. However, he didn't seem to have a plan today, and has given me that impression in the past. But poor old Ashton is just dreadfully out of form and we have several other good options.
But yes, since you suggest it, let's drop all the Sarries. Be a laugh

Re: England 15 for Argentina
Solid win for England.
Their strength still lies in their forwards though. Their backline is prone to too any errors. Farrall is certainly an excellent goal kicker.
Great burst from Morgan for his try. Argentina showed that they can take bigger teams on, just not adventurous enough though and they can't put an eighty minute performance in.
Hartley had a good game today. Still don't like Ashton.
Next the big one, can England put 80 minutes in against the All Blacks?

Re: England 15 for Argentina
Dickson, Farrell, Tomkins, Ashton all had really poor games - why was Twelvetrees taken off and not Farrell?
Why did we disrespect Argentina by not starting our best players?
What on earth was Goode doing in the 23?
Lancaster is a shocking head coach and the sooner he and Farrell snr go the better.
Just looks like England don't know how to play rugby - no leadership on or off the field - less than 2 years to the WC........

Re: England 15 for Argentina
Well played England. A very fine first half that would put temors in most sides. Powerful ball carrying, dynamic work at the ruck and a quick defensive line that shut down Argentina very well.
England look competent and worthy third place ranking holders. If they can extend their 40 minutes to 80 they will challenge any side. They'll be tough to break down next week for NZ, who will need to be patient and it should be a cracker of a test.

Well Youngs, Wade, Yarde and Tuilagi are all injured, so the replacements were our only other EPS options.kingelderfield wrote:Dickson, Farrell, Tomkins, Ashton all had really poor games - why was Twelvetrees taken off and not Farrell?

Re: England 15 for Argentina
Lancaster has now fielded Twelvetrees and Tomkins twice but they haven't really performed. It might have been a bit wiser to give some game time to another centre so we have more options ahead of the All Blacks. As it stands, we either throw a new player into the deepest of deep ends or hope for third time lucky with the current pairing.
Not sure why Flood came on as a centre. It might have been better to shake things up my playing him at 10.
