Re: Has Anyone Been To Reykjavik?
The Jersey soil is light and well drained and many farmers still use seaweed harvested from Jersey beaches as a natural fertilizer (it is known locally as Vraic). Jersey has some of the most formidable tidal flows in the world, and the strong movement of the sea deposits large quantities of vraic on the shore. The practice of using vraic on the land dates back to the 12th century.

There are rock formations in the sea around jerseu where you catch a certain type of fish. not sure where or what though.Mind the windows Tino. wrote:The Jersey soil is light and well drained and many farmers still use seaweed harvested from Jersey beaches as a natural fertilizer (it is known locally as Vraic). A builder mate of mine lived there for years. He said there was lots of diving and fishing to do (including shark). He had got on with the locals really well until a falling out with some outside a pub one night which led to him knocking one out with one of his work tools!

Reykjavikians not work-toolproof. That's the kind of travel tip that should be printed in Lonely Planet guides, wouldn't dare try smashing a Pole over the head with a shifting spanner but would fancy my chances in Iceland.

Yep, slipped a bit after Marx's revelation about his wife's triangle. I'm not ashamed to say that I imagined it has waxed handlebars sticking out the sides and that she wears a monocle as well.

Inspired by masterchef, I am again attempting the 'deconstructed cheese sandwich' for lunch. 2 rolls, a slab of cheese and a stolen sachet of mayonnaise from the canteen. I suspect it will be every bit a match for the deconstructed cherry bakewell made by the aspiring chef last night.

Inspired by habit, I'm going to try a large chicken burrito from Wrap-It-Up. I normally have them on Weds & Fri but this week it's going to be Tues & Fri for a bit of variety.
Not sure what "deconstructed" means in this context, I suspect that my burrito will be a constructed one.

Deconstructed is the fashionable way of saying a chef can't be arsed to put it together properly (as per the cheesecake below):Galted wrote:Inspired by habit, I'm going to try a large chicken burrito from Wrap-It-Up. Aha, that clears it up very effectively. It's more "unconstructed" than "deconstructed" though, "deconstructed" is more appropriate when you're pushing what's left of it out your bumhole.

No worries, thanks for the additional attachment though I can't open it because of the overly picky work firewall so I'll have to look at it at home.
I have some idea of what the deconstructed burrito looks like as the person who makes them packs them so full of pure burrito goodness that they tend to violently deconstruct over my desk while I'm eating them.

I finished my rolls in Morrisons car park then headed in to buy food for tonight. While I was there my northern roots must have taken over as I bought A5 sized bit of pork crackling and ate it in one sitting. I feel a bit sick now.

You guys are all spoilt in the city with your food choices. I'm out in the sticks and I dream of the day when our canteen is as good as even the Simpsons school one. I had a chicken and mayo sandwich. The chicken was dry.

On the bright side Spencer, you do not live down south and have to endure southerners, if slightly limited lunch options are the price to pay for that I consider it more than worth it.

I usually bring my own lunch in. I only use the canteen if the menu is a favourite on that particular day. If I could sit on my own, I would go in more often but its just one big table that people sit round. I don't really like anyone at work so try to avoid it.

Re: Has Anyone Been To Reykjavik?
Bumped into a bunch of northerners near Marble Arch last weekend, they'd come up to London to watch the public executions at Tyburn. Were disappointed at first when I broke the news to them but they were kept entertained by the traffic and tall buildings, though people with teeth freaked them out a bit.

Suspect meeting a friendly and approachable southerner would have caught them off guard Galted. Unless you were in Glated mode, we don't have them sort up here so that would have thrown them right off.
