I'm liking the old skool looking shirts on the Scottish players. Better than what they were wearing last week.
Phew that was close Weir.

Great play Laidlaw.
Australia are rattled - need to build a few points before they find their rhythm again

Re: Scotland v Australia, 23 November
Interesting how Oz opted for the line out instead of the scrum there. Are they worried about their scrum or is their line out working for them?

With the Murrayfield pitch as it is I don't think either team wants to scrum

Shame Ford's had to come off now, but good for player development.

Scotland cannot win if they keep giving away penalties at this rate.

Re: Scotland v Australia, 23 November
Can someone explain to me WHY:
- People even try touch people in the air in lineouts (Scot do this in their lineouts often but rarely get pinged but it's heart in mouth every time they do it)
- Box kick from a dodgy ruck? Reset, recycle and do it THEN.

Re: Scotland v Australia, 23 November
Cari the irony is that almost nobody on these boards wanted Ford to play this match, so we don't find it a shame. He's good but a bit of the boil of late: consensus is he needs a break and MacArthur needs some time in the 2 shirt.Cari wrote:Shame Ford's had to come off now, but good for player development.

Re: Scotland v Australia, 23 November
That was v, v good by Folau.
That's EXACTLY when you needed to hear the name "Visser" instead of "Lamont" (or Maitland under the assumption Hogg would've been the full back taking it up)

Think that last 5 minutes was harsh on Scotland. Should have been 1 man or 1 scrum up there

Re: Scotland v Australia, 23 November
Scotland is playing much better than last week, their biggest issue tonight is their lasses and offloads don't stick.
If Maitland stepped inside of Folau on his weak shoulder he would have scored that try, Folau's defence is not that great, by passing to Lamont he played into Folau's hands as all He had to do was sheperd Lamont into the corner.
The last scrum should have been a free kick to Scotland, the Scottish captain will do well to whisper into Jaco Peyper's ear that on their own ball Australia doesn't stop pushing once they set the scrum, it is their way to gain any possible momentum.
They did the same thing in the rugby Championship and got away with it a lot of times.

Well a much better performance so far. The left/right flankers working quite well, Brown and Beattie both playing well. Pack playing well and we are in the game.

If Maitland had just drawn his man the worst he was going to have was a simple offload to lamont, what a butchering..

Re: Scotland v Australia, 23 November
They did it every scrum last week against Ireland. It drives me mental because it means the opposition hooker needs to push before the ball goes in and can't strike for the ball.Biltong wrote:

Gaby Logan is actually very educated in most sport - including rugby. And she should be, she's an ex-international gymnast, her dad was a famous professional footballer and she's married to an ex (Scottish) international rugby player.Ineffable wrote:Switched off - that lady who's talking the stats doesn't understand rugby you can tell. Incidentally, I'm not disagreeing with you because she's female and I think you're being sexist - I just think you're wrong. I think she's one of the better pundits on TV compared to some of the other numpties they have.

That last scrum was a free kick to Scotland and the ref hasn't been consistent with his warnings. Ridiculous
