January Transfer Window 2014
First topic message reminder :
I'm gonna open this up now as I contemplate watching the shower of poop I'm about to watch.
What strong rumours have we heard? What do teams need? Where do you think the money will be spent?
I shall start you off with rumours surrounding Lambert maybe considering West Ham and similarly West Ham going to Spurs cap in hand to request a loan of Defoe or Adebayor (sources not so tight haha)

We had him in his prime & he was dreadful. Now he's in decline. Basically your getting a player than runs all day but has no actual technical ability at all & carries a spiderman mask in his pants, that he never actually gets out.
I'm currently feeling a mixture of anger, depression and downright sadness at this.
It makes no sense. We don't need a winger. Play the kid Murphy he's done better than Snodgrass has all season despite barely playing! Argh just sack the clueless buffoon already!!!!

Re: January Transfer Window 2014
we bought 10 of them start of the season.
luckily when you buy that many headless chickens one or two end up being ok!!
But still the problem is huge for teams like norwich and palace. It is just so hard to sign players that can boost the squad.
Norwich have been a team that has impressed me over the last few years. But this season is different. Time to get rid me thinks! but I hope you dont

Hughton does seem to get wins in the games he must. The league this tight, that'll probably be enough. Gutierrez will do dogsbody work and might be very useful in games needing fight.

There are 11 teams within 6 points of last place.
None are safe just yet/
palace and fulham are the favs to go down I would say but only just favs- both could potentially get out of this. Fulham do have some mighty fine players and palace have pulis and a massive amount of fight.

Yeh, my first initial thought about Guttierrez to Norwich is 'what on earth are they thinking'. At the same time, a winger who will run all day for you when your in a relegation scrap is invaluable. Sometimes it comes down to who wants it more and hard work and grit. Norwich just have to hope their more classy players like Snodgrass, Van Wolfswinkel etc can hit some form and pitch in with a couple of goals.

Re: January Transfer Window 2014
but palace have a complete lack of firepower.....and at the end of the day, you can have all the fight in the world, but goals are what's going to keep a side up..

Re: January Transfer Window 2014
as i said we are still one of the favs to go down.
but you are still taking nonsense - what keeps a side up is the combination of scoring goals and conceding goals.
and Palace have Murray coming back,
Its ok you can state we will 100% go down if you want. But you are still very incorrect with your summary/
Palace have a shot

Sorry I don't buy that argument about running all day, I could go out there and run all day and throw myself about. He's simply not good enough and he isn't better than Snodgrass, Pilkington, Redmond or Elliott Bennett. Its the most baffling and pointless signing we could possibly make. Especially as we have a youngster in Murphy pushing to make the team as well.
Absolutely clueless management.

i never said you will 100% go down, you do come out with some rubbish, show me where i said u are down already?
My point is a valid one, a side will need goals to stay up, yes it helps to not concede goals, but to win a football match, you just have to score more than the oppo, end of. To do that you need someone who will score goals, Palace were despeately unlucky to lose Murray to that awful injury however Chamakh has been a flop and no body else has stepped up to the plate.

Re: January Transfer Window 2014
Oh no i'm not saying running around all day will keep you up. Putting chances away and having quality in the final third and conceding the least will keep teams up. What i'm saying is talent isn't everything. QPR probably had a side on paper to be more than capable of staying up yet players didn't pull their weight. I think you need a combination of people who'll put a shift in for you and then obviously people with quality.

I'd very much doubt it. That link to Swansea is the biggest load of bullsh*t story I've seen, so many errors it's unreal. And Swansea chairman has come out and said they don't sign injured players today, which is basically Pilks all the time lol

Re: January Transfer Window 2014
Olly's day is about to become very special indeed....I can sense the optimism spewing from you with this signing mate haha! Could be worse, you could already be in the Championship like the mighty Boro!
In other news the mass exodus at Man Utd seems almost certain nowl; various sources have begun...and will continue too...break the news that Evra, Vidic & Ferdinand have all been told they are free to speak to clubs this summer.
Nani seems set for a loan move which could transpire into a permanent one with the rumoured locations at the moment being Sporting Lisbon & AS Roma...though Fulham have now joined the hunt (read into that what you want).
Andersons move to Fiorentina will be wrapped up in the coming days.
Whilst on the subject of United; what are people's thought's regards the summer and Rooney? Do we see him leaving? Whilst he is a pivotal part of the team I'd have to say that if I was Moyes I would move him on. At 28 he isn't getting younger and with 12 months left on his deal it's probably the last chance to get a fair amount for him.
The problem is who do you replace him with and what would be deemed good value for a player whose form blows hot and cold throughout the season (or has tended to over last couple of years)....Chelsea are clearly the most interested party...would anyone take £20 million plus Lukaku?

Glory hunting?! If he's glory hunting he's doing a rubbish job of it!
Sounds a little like you're picking an argument for no reason Mysti! He's pretty right, you were unlucky (sh!t happens but bad luck suits the injury situation too) and you are one of a mix of teams who could very well go down, ourselves included. Although I'd disagree Chamakh has been a flop because Pulis seems to have woken him up a bit.
For all that, goals will be key. Even Sam the pragmatist knows that.

You'll need to spend nicely to get a centre back as good as Colo Colo-Colo Colo-Colo Colo Coloccini. I'd suggest someone of French descent

we could do with another centre back...finally get Tomkins back from injury and he gets himself sent off!!!!!!!!

Re: January Transfer Window 2014
doubt it...they will try but January is such an awkward time to buy someone...especially with most players cup tied....and that dosen't help when your trying to buy big players from potential champions league based clubs..

Re: January Transfer Window 2014
Doubt we will go French for Coloccini`s replacement. We went for Yanga-I`m-sh#twa & we know how that turned out. Only Kurt Zouma is being rated as any good in France, expect he`ll go to a top team though. Will be a busy summer for us with Gosling, Obertan, Ameobi, Coloccini, Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Marveaux & possibly Remy all leaving.
As for United, all the players are leaving in the summer. Anderson/Nani never played anyway, so don't need replacing urgently. I expect Moyes will really start his rebuild in the summer, maybe one or two this window max.

Lambert knows how to get the best out of him. He'll bag a few goals too, put in a shift, add some leadership/experience. Would imagine a loan for Kozak?

He ain't going to start.
Sub now and then.
As the guys on MNF said, he'll be a dressing room signing.
Experience for the younger lads.
Bit of a urine taken for Helenius.
Kozak gets injured, Lambert said Helenius will get a chance now its looking like he's bringing Holt.

Most disappointing in my opinion given how good he was for his first 6 months.
Then he got fat and injured and his lack of basic skill became apparent.

we signed anybody yet? no?
its all well and good getting rid of some of the dead wood, and cant argue with many of the players going, but if were going to challenge for top 4 this season we need to sign a cm. all this bs about being a bad time, well its going to be harder in the summer if we haven't got champions league football!
