January Transfer Window 2016
With Bournemouth looking like they've got Iturbe done on loan with a view to permanent then I guess that's the signal to get this thread going

Re: January Transfer Window 2016
Constantly linked with Andros Townsend, we need a geniune winger to produce for Mitrovic, otherwise we're just wasting his talent. Cisse being injured, means we're linked with Michy Batshuayi again, doubt this will come off, seeing as Standard Liege have a 35% sell on clause, so Marseille are asking for a massive fee.

Re: January Transfer Window 2016
We've been linked with Steven Naismith. No thanks.
Read that Garde is looking at Bordeaux attacking midfielder Wahbi Khazri. Never heard of him.
Also Marseille keeper Steve Mandanda.
We could do with another striker.
Ayew is turning into a decent buy for us though.
On the way out it seems are N'Zogbia, Kozak and Gabby.
Shame Kozak didnt get a go after a decent pre season.

More than anything we need some recoveries.
Gokhan Tore will be on the shopping list until we get him. We could probably do with a right back and/or a striker.

Re: January Transfer Window 2016
Utd wise it's totally up in the air as to who they may bring in with the manager situation so anyone currently linked may then not be in the future manager's plans.
Mahrez has been linked but downplayed quite a bit by both Leicester and Mahrez's agent to happen in January, I could though see him join in the summer.
Upfront is the main concern, I can see Utd doing something in the summer that involves Rooney going back to Everton and Lukaku coming the other way (with Utd supplementing Everton's wage for Rooney).
Personally I'd like to see Utd go for Griezmann of Atletico, quality striker who can play on the right and I'd see linking well with Martial and Depay.

Assuming that Man Utd are still an attractive proposition? If LVG is still in charge i can't see you getting any of those players.

Very true, hoping he'll be gone pretty quickly though.
The one plus re Griezmann is that he's a huge Utd fan, and the other main club after him, Chelsea, are in a worse state of affairs than us.

The thing with Griezmann and Chelsea could be that if Simeone goes to Chelsea in the summer then that would make Chelsea a more attractive option over Man U for Griezmann and any other Atletico player on his way out.

Re: January Transfer Window 2016
Everton bias coming here......
If Everton were to swap Lukaku for Rooney, United would have to pay £60m. Thats £50m for Lukaku and £10m for a taking a broken Rooney off your hands. Even then I'm thinking thats a bargain.
@West you could do a lot worse than Steven Naismith.
In an ideal world for us, keep all our players (bar McGeady) and bring in Butland to replace Howard. Yeah I know, dream on....

Oh I'd fully expect Utd having to cough up a hell of an amount of cash for Lukaku nowadays, but Utd can throw a hell of a lot of cash about.

If Simeone goes there then very likely that'd be the case, though the history of Atletico players at Chelsea isn't great with Torres, Luis and Costa not exactly having the best of times there.

Red Star Belgrade have accepted a £5.1m bid from #LFC for Marko Grujić, Klopp's closing in on his first signing.

I'd love Naismith at the Albion. Been linked with Debuchy from Arsenal, he'd be great but doubt he'd want to play for us/Pulis

The story I've seen is his dad has confiscated his passport because he's so against him moving away from Red Star

To be honest, he was poor for Newcastle, couldn't defend or head the ball & quickly lost his place at Arsenal too. He will want Crystal Palace, for obvious reasons or a top club in France, to regain his place at the Euro's.

Re: January Transfer Window 2016
The only way Debuchy leaves is if Jenkinson comes back honestly. Chambers as cover would be a very bad idea.

Okay Costa hasn't been scoring of late but he had a great spell at the start of last season obviously and then injuries caught up with him which isn't really his fault, so i would say he's on the right path, once we get fully back into form i think he will start firing again.

Debuchy was decent enough at Newcastle, but unless we're sending Jenks back (not an impossible thought) then they surely won't leave themselves with Chambers as cover

I'd be amazed if Costa is still there next season personally.

Hmm maybe.
We need a striker like him though, this season aside he had the impact last season that we have needed for a few seasons now, a striker who scores plenty. The strikers we had chipped in yeah but they didn't score the amount a title challenging side need.

Re: January Transfer Window 2016
I think the problem Costa has is that this season most sides (Gabriel aside) have wised up to him and his antics, last season it was all a bit of a shock to the system.

We've apparently agreed a 2.5m fee for Jarvis, he was playing well until he got injured so ok with that.
Also apparently in for some striker named Sebastian Haller - no idea who he is, anybody have a clue?

Been banging the goals in for Utrect in Holland (10 in 13), looks a similar mould to John Carew, with some pace & is only 21. He's 6ft 2 & looks to have some talent.

Big, strong, young French striker. Was linked to Sunderland in the summer. Wasn't a good idea then, isn't a good idea now.Olly wrote:Also apparently in for some striker named Sebastian Haller - no idea who he is, anybody have a clue?

It appears Elneny is heading into the Emirates from Basel for 7m.
Well this will either be a success or a Hossam Ghaly type fail.

he's a proven goalscorer & £8m is peanuts nowadays, especially if he keeps Norwich in the league & they receive the £100m TV money.

Apparently, we've bid £6m for Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli & it was rejected. Also, looking at Jonjo Shelvey from Swansea. Loic Remy on loan is a possibility & Andros Townsend coming to St. James', is dependent upon the failure of WBA concluding a deal with him & Berahino.

Re: January Transfer Window 2016
Sam Byram possibly main/only target for January for West Ham. Davide Santon appears to be possible back-up.
Hoping Lanzini, deal already in place as part of the loan, will be confirmed over the next few months, and Tore will be chased in Summer.

Is gathering pace this rumour, I'm surprised, given the history of South American failures, that United would a. go down this route or b. Even trust LVG anymore with spending the money. I mean, Rojo has been awful & got fined by LVG, Di Maria fell out with LVG & now Anderson is going to cost £35m. Strange stuff, but then again, United have turned into a joke.

felipe Anderson is fast becoming the new gaitan. we get linked with him every window.
not sure id be too quick in buying Brazilians for the prem, the vast majority turn into flops. gilberto silva and juninho have been the only real big success stories, unless you listen to Liverpool fans when coutinho plays well for a few games per season.
would like us to sign a winger/attacker though, depay has been dreadful and we are clearly lacking attacking threat. another martial would be nice, still not the finished article but its great having a player who will actually try to take someone on
