The Culture Cup round 6
First topic message reminder :
Happily, the first Spice Girls Single not to go to Number 1 was Stop, it was kept off top spot by Run DMC vs Jason Nevins - It's Like That.
seanmichaels wrote:Rowley wrote:seanmichaels wrote:Rowley wrote:JuliusHMarx wrote:I think I'll upset Jeff now and say that Blackberry Way is a better song than Waterloo Sunset.
Why would the fact you're a moron upset me?
As an aside though another Move song, Flowers in the Rain was the first song ever played on Radio One.
That could and should have been posted on me remarkably unpopular Music anecdotes thread....
Sean, if the thread had been called useless music trivia it almost certainly would have been. I have any number of such facts I could amaze you good people with.
Hit me.

I thought it was Galted's best ever lunch review. Full of passion and extremely informative. If that meal only scored 80%, I wonder what he would would have to eat to improve on it.
Genuinely good journalism. A career on QVC surely awaits
Quite weighty so the purchaser knows, immediately, that he's getting his money worth quantity-wise.

Thanks, michaels, that's a very kind observation. I have to admit though that the burrito pretty much writes its own review.

Would it have provoked the requisite "Pompous" response from the Rugger board though?

Used to play a bit of rugby but gave it up when I went to Uni. Could never get my head around the whole initiation / pooing in pints thing. I recollect a time when one of the rugby guys had toilet roll stuffed up his bum and then a length left out which sort of acted as a 'fuse'. The aim for the poor chap was to run down to the vending machine on the floor below, buy a twix and get back to the bar before the fuse reached his toilet roll stuffed ring. Bizarre scenes when I look back at it.

Similar stories myself about the Uni Rugby team Sean, each to their own I guess... Lots of nakedness together and singing about getting laid whilst everyone else was out getting laid
This should be an interesting (i use this word with poetic licence) social media experiment Galted...

Seems so although don't be impatient. They are probably taping up their fingers and heads in preparation for a proper rugger response.

Realise having thread back through the thread a bit you are all concerned about how my London adventure has gone. Thus far everything has gone swimmingly. Did not get lost on the big underground train thingy, have not had to ask for directions once, and thus far have not met top hat. Did see a really fat bloke on the underground train so I got off and waited for the next one, you really can’t be too careful.
Still have to make it back home though so don’t want to get too cocky just yet.

Why don't you take in St Pancras on your way. Lovely building by all accounts.
Actually, I think it is King's Cross that has been re-done? Sure I went to France from St Pancras and it wasn't that good.

Has anyone mentioned that you're on their 'manor' yet, or that they are 'light on their trotters'? Has anyone threatened to 'mug you off' or 'smack you in your faackin cakehole'?

No but our office is very near Bermondsey which I believe is the kind of place one could encounter such salt of the earth, apples and pears types. May have to leave early and investigate.

I like Waterloo. In fact if you get a train from mine to Waterloo, you can pretty much do London (Big Ben, Battersea Powerstation, Shard, London Eye) without getting off it and with benefit of going straight home.

Hard guy to miss Tino, and judging by his fights, not light on his feet, so i guess lots of people bumped into him that day.
we should get a sporting anecdote thread to go along with Sean's popular Music anecdote thread...
This would start it nicely i feel.

Hello gentlemen. I come in piece from the rugby section. I have come here to thank Galted for his excellent burrito review. 'Twas truly a thing of beauty- truly the meal sounded as mouth watering a prospect as the first weekend of the Six Nations, or perhaps the first weekend after the end of the Six Nations depending on your perspective.
We're all happy that you decided to share that with us, and I will be sure to investigate Wrap-It-Up if I find myself in London. I would also like to say I am available to volunteer information on where fine burritos of equal quality can be found in Belfast should you ever require it.

I had to google 'moribund' just to make sure I correctly understood what it meant. I am happy with it though.
Do you think Jeff got p*ssed off with the mechanical snakes on the way home and ditched the train for a horse and cart? I think he has just made it north of Birmingham.

"Moribund" was an excellent choice, the rest of us will really need to up our games to compete with that.
I think he's been trying to cross a road to get to the station since yesterday afternoon but keeps getting driven back by the confusion of lights and sounds.
