Only asked cos i have quite a few mates who are Celtic fans was interestd to get an opinion.

We should get BoltThrower to compose an England World Cup song. It may not be the most sing-a-long tune ever written but it'll scare the sh!t out of the opposition

As hard for you to believe, we're a much better defence when he's playing alongside Bassong.

Hope we can get the 3 points on saturday. If so that will put us 8 points clear of the Hammers.
Will put us on 30 points, if results go our way, bit closer to safety.
Fancy us to nick it 2-1.

Is this a bad thing? Someone needs to stand up to the kangaroo court that is the FA.. They are nothing short of a shambles, and whilst Andy Carroll will always to me be a complete and utter man sausage, it definitely was not a red.

He swung his arm back, caught him....just, which means red. They really cannot complain.

There should be a reciprocal red for Chico Flores if Carroll's red continues to stand - if he hadn't gone writhing holding his face (which was never touched) as if it had been blown away by an IED, there would have been no action taken by Webb, certainly not marching orders.
These wussies cheat with impunity, can't understand why no-one at WHU called him on it - or gave him something to writhe about.
Carroll's not perfect, quite the opposite, but nor is Howard Webb whatever the FA might think.

If Carroll hadn't swung his arm in his direction he wouldn't of gone down like a girl and from the videos ive seen it looks like he could of stopped his arm. It's swings and roundabouts. Chico did what all players do nowadays. It's like Pardew the other day complained at Johnson's reaction to being headbutted but it's correct when Gervinho did the same to Barton.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
No way he could stop his arm. I could see an argument for some intent, but they both swing round.
The problem is that the FA don't need to go against it. Webb can say he thought there was intent. Doesnt have to think it now, doesn't matter.
Not sure the argument "Chico did what others do" is particularly strong either. I like the fact Swansea fans have given Chico stick for it too.
My problem is, regardless of whether we like it or not, you can't take an appeals panel of a sport to the High Courts because you don't like a 3-game ban. Get on with it and prove you can win the games anyway. If Carroll's ban gets delayed due to this legal action, he scores at Villa and/or Norwich and then one of them goes down the FA will get sued by them too

He may well not have to been able to stop his arm through momentum but it sure as hell looks dodgy.
Let's face it you won the game anyway this is just a minor point if you can't be without Carroll for 3 games then you don't deserve to be in the PL if your that reliant on 1 player
If you're expecting a player to not go down at that point your being optimistic. I've seen worse this week just have to watch the Madrid Derby.
That being said West Ham have 0% chance of winning in court against the the FA. Be lucky if they make it inside a court room.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
I dont like the appeal now, to the high courts i mean, just ludicrous.
I think it will take us down. Heartbeat of the team out in a league like this, in the bottom scrap like that, no surprise. Similar to if United has lost RVP last year, if Arsenal lose Giroud this year. These things make a huge difference.
Strikes get one game a year, often Arsenal/West Ham.
I'm not surprised he went down, I don't have to like it. And the rolling around in agony is pathetic. I'm not one of those who goes mental for a dive, but feigning injury does my head in. Snodgrass was the worst this year for me, trying to make out J'OB had stamped on his head. Was so blatant what he was trying to do, he's a real nasty Kumquat

From Chico on twitter
I'm a bit tired of the strong insults from the west Ham fans. Whoever doesn't see the aggression in that action is blind.
They should be more preoccupied with the ugly way their team play football: always making very long passes and never quick short passing.
They should be worried about that before caring about such evident things.

Chico's a total tosspot, shouldn't be prejudicing the livelihood of a fellow pro.
I imagine he won't be expecting to play West Ham again; let's hope he gets relegated.
Otherwise Chico: F-off back to Spain.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
The referee had to send Andy Carroll off. He swung his arm around fast catching Chico Flores on the forehead hard - that was no dive - a heavy whipped elbow to your forehead and you would probably be unconscious. It happened right in front of the referee with Carroll starring into the referees eyes realising he had been found out.
I didn't see clearly the incident beforehand, but Flores seemed to be airborne and his arm got locked around Carroll's throat so that might have been a yellow card.
And Howard Webb has been criticised for allegedly not giving red cards and penalty decisions because he wants to be picked for the world cup.

The decision wont be overturned, they cant open up the can of worms. I dont agree with the decision= but the legal action wont pay off.
I think West ham for there own benefit should forget about it now and move on. It seems like a ready made excuse for failure. That attitude isnt helpful for the team fighting for survival.
If i was to suggest a method for fixing this issue - I dont think red cards should have automatic bans attached. I think they should be adjudicated after.

Funny, worst team football I've seen this year was from Newcastle at their place. To qualify this, the performance of Cabaye at our place was glorious, maybe the best I'll see at our place this year.
I'd expect us to play some guff, we're in the bottom three! But Chico really is spouting nonsense considering just how bad he was and Swansea were. Insipid. When we're bad, we play rough football and revert to a shell, when we're in flow we're decent. Like most teams around mid to bottom half. Sadly, the Sam stereotype still exists.
And Nick is still bitter from getting mugged by us in the Champ

To be honest, I'm surprised people are questioning the red. Seems to me it's because Flores made a meal out of it, which he did. That of course is irrelevant, as Carroll did swing his arm back intentionally. I'm not going to knock him for that. Football is a passionate sport, on and off the field, and we've all seen the red mist before, even if for a spilt second.
