2014 World Cup T20 Live Matches Thread
First topic message reminder :
World T20 has started again...seems like a few months back WI won it........
I think this will be turned into a 4 year event...and rightly so.
so far:
--BD beat Afghanistan........avenging their Asia cup defeat...and BD were talking up the win as if it's an achievement......well maybe it is...shows where they have set their bar or expectations. I can't be excited watching or following such a game.
--Nepal beat Hongkong.......is this a surprise ?...I have no clue where / how either of these teams stand?....and no interest either.
--and the big upset IRE beat Zim off the last ball...and that too without their stars Morgan and Boyd Rankin

This was a horrendous choke from Australia. To have required 75 off 60 with 8wkts in hand and not get close, is a choke, pure and simple.

and Aus inning tapered down as the inning progressed......this is the "tapering down" I was talking about yesterday...in context with the Eng v NZ game....there wasn't enough time for NZ to taper down.
given this is a world cup event and an inning takes juts over an hour to complete.....an extra odd hour can be found easily in the tournament to complete in case bad weather strikes

Take it easy with your compliments, Olly.
Yeah, it was horrendous given the surge from Maxwell. Apart from him and Finch... the others need to lift their "game" to say the least.
Anyway, no need to panic just yet... only the Windies and India next. Gulp!
Then Bangladesh who will no doubt grow an extra leg and arm in front of their home fans.

Maxwell was brilliant LB, great hitting, but your finishers should be seeing out his great work
I'm not a big fan of the Hodge/Hogg selections personally, id look to change that myself but not sure who else is in your squad who could come in?

Faulkner and Muirhead.
I'd probably give Hodge another match if Faulkner is not quite ready. Problem is our spin options... a 43 y.o. chinaman or a 20 y.o. leggie.
Will have to rely on someone other than Finch to bowl the odd over but that leaves us very exposed as we saw today.

What the hell are the WI's doing?
Smith's was the worst 29 ball T20 innings i have ever seen.
46/1 after 10 overs. Are they saving all the wkts for the last two overs?

well India have taken like fish to water in these conditions....and they play 3 spinners...and the 3rd spinner Mishra is bowling like the champion Warne.
so they are not letting the oponents get away...Dhoni is perfect for these conditions and with these bowling resources

Kumar 3 overs for 3 runs was impressive, should have had the last over.
Tight bowling but WI's played it all wrong.

What a game the South Africa New Zealand game was!! I was watching in a tiny cafe, and by the last five overs it was standing room only, easily a couple hundred crammed in. Huge roars broke out with every wicket, and some left after Morkels penultimate over... The final ball left an outpouring of emotions, as we'd somehow sneaked an improbable win. As great an atmosphere as I've witnessed

Mysti - suspect the final 10 of the Windies' innings might be worth watching. 74/0 off the first 10. Really set to go now ....

yep its picking up. but if they fall short of 165 against this attack , not many teams will fear them.
4 runs only off the 14 over- thats decent from the home team

Keep expecting Gayle to go wild but at the moment he's more like a cross between Gavaskar and Boycott!

Seriously the only reason WI are where they are is due to bad fielding anyway. They have gained 15 plus due to poor fielding.
but ok gayle is banging it - still seriously unimpressed with carrying out almost the whole innings with only a 100 sr so far

Re: 2014 World Cup T20 Live Matches Thread
In the main, poor cricket by both sides. As Mysti said, generally poor fielding from Bangladesh - too many dropped catches and misfields. Strange innings from Gayle - more anchor than aggressor.
Feel West Indies have enough in this match but it doesn't bode well for them in the tournament.

Yardy dropped out of an international tournament with depression and I don't think has been tried or trusted since at England level since. He's still going along at Sussex.

England women recovered from their defeat by WI to get a reasonably comfortable win against India. Bowling looks stronger than batting at the moment.

The Dutch have restricted South Africa for 145/9 in their 20 overs. SA reckoned 170 was a good score.
Dutch are 30-0 - Need 116 more Runs to win with 102 balls left. (17 Overs)

We are simply terrible at this T20 stuff.
Strategy needs work, selections needs work, can't read how to play this game, and our innate conservatism and inflexibility is a major problem.

I would have thought our batsmen first and then our bowlers would have learnt there is no pace In this pitch.
So now we giving them enough pace to fly the edges and with the ball sitting up nicely it is there to hit.
Slow the ball down. Hell even I can see that.
