We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
Well, as I started one for the Championship, it seems now is the time for the Premier League 2014/15 thread to begin!
We have all our teams, with Leicester, Burnley and QPR replacing Cardiff, Fulham and Norwich. Can City retain, can United break into the top four, how will Liverpool cope with Champions League football. All this and more can be discussed as we see how the transfers, the rumours, the World Cup and everything else make an impact on the Premier League before it all kicks off?
I'll open it up...the Telegraph, Sky Sports and others report Pochettino is top of Spurs' shortlist and could be unveiled in the next week. Thoughts? Sounds the perfect fit to me. Some suggesting he'll bring Rodriguez with him, although that sounds like immediate clutching to me.

Even if thats true, it still makes him entertaining. I usually look foward to hearing what Keane says. With the others, I don't even pay attention to what they say anymore.

Very true, he is good TV. Most say what we already know anyway, as per the game commentary.

I dont mind it, but only cos there is literally no "sport only" (and basically football only) alternative. Never understood why Darren Gough is on there, and Durham is a pleb.

Strange thing with Durham is I think he'd be a good pundit if he quite clearly wasn't told to WUM to get listenersDolphin Ziggler wrote:westisbest wrote:Dolphin Ziggler wrote:No one on TalkSport should be on TV.

Stop looking at Vines . Mulgrew backheeled the ball into the net in Ronaldo-esque fashion. That "goal" was ruled out.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Interesting that the majority of Arsenal fan sites are not happy with the signing. If it is not the majority I would say it is a 50/50 split. The echoes of all these heavy defeats and 9 year trophyless drought have not been washed away with this FA cup win as wonderful as it has been. I am big fan of Wenger's. But even I think that we can do much better with our resources and fan base. If we don't add some firepower in this transfer window we are going to be in big trouble. Chelsea have sold two players they don't need for like 70 million pounds you know they will a few big players and soon. United reportedly are willing to spend whatever it takes to win the league again. City are still loaded in talent and with the money of the mad sheik. Liverpool are going to be back in CL and can compete for players more effectively as well. So we need to sign at the least 2-3 first team quality players if we want to have any chance of building on the Fa cup success.

3 years of failure ahead then. Will get given another 6 years, then might win the fa cup or league cup by beating a minor team.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
I dont think we (Leicester) will go game. I trust that Nigel Pearson will make a few good additions. After all we have the scout that bought Didier Drogba to Chelsea and he has unearthed the gems such as Anthony Knockeart and Riyad Mahrez already.
I think momentum from last season will carry us to a good first half were we will be floating around the top half. It will fade out a bit after Christmas where we will probably end up around 15th.
Burnley, Hull and Southampton to go down for me with Chelsea winning the league.

If the lass in charge wants to sell up, as rumoured, and isnt interested in reinvesting that money then maybe they'll lose their best players and not replace them at all well. To go tumbling from there, well its clear how that can all go.
If any team loses their best player, their manager and their top scorer and they are not a big side then you would question how far they could fall. To say they could well lose their star centre back, one of the best left backs in the league last year and rumours around Schneiderlin and Rodriguez too. I don't think they'll all go, but imagine if they lost Lambert, Lallana, Rodriguez, Shaw, Lovren and Schneiderlin after losing their manager. Thats scary.

cant see how any owner coming in would see selling all there prize assets as good business. the sale of shaw alone would cover most what they need to bring in, let alone lallana as well. rodriguez top scored for them last season not lambert
they also have fox who's look good when playing instead of shaw and clyne can also play lb with chambers playing right back. lambert and lallana will be more difficult to replace

So he was! Lambert is still a loss considering they have tried to replace him and failed once.
And they may not have a choice. The money might be enough so that they cant turn it down or the players ask to leave. They may reinvest half of it, but then its a whole new set up to integrate.

Swans to go down? Nah. Gary Monk will get Laudrups signings (Michu, Canas etc) playing well again, build the team around them and mid table beckons I think.
I used to like Collymores opinions on TS but his Falklands comments, especially on the anniversary on the HMS Cov sinking, and subsequent back tracking was appalling.

Keane is a an interesting one.
Don't think I would want him at Villa while he is with ROI.
Need to concentrate on one job.
Was happy enough when him and MON were appointed in charge of ROI, think we will do ok with those 2.

Seems Bruce is Southamptons #1 target.
Seems a backwards step to me, Bruce has never really managed to make the step up.

That doesn't seem a good fit at all. Southampton need a continental manager to carry on that high pressing, possession based football & who can attract some top names, especially if Shaw & Lallana join Lambert through the exit door. Bruce is too old school for a fresh exciting club like Southampton. Bruce should just stay at Hull & enjoy the Europa League.
Looks like Southampton hierarchy have got carried away with his F.A Cup run.
