We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
You're both quite awful, but I wouldn't rule anybody out of anything yet. Liverpool are THIRTEENTH and they are just five points off a CL spot (although, they might give up on it this year, so they can make a run for it next year). The teams are just all so close this season, u don't think it would have even cleared up by Christmas (except Chelsea winning the league, they should be coronated by then). Citeh are basically trying the Suárez trick with Agüero, and while it's working at the moment, I'd say with his injury track record, the one with the thunder thighs is not someone you want to base your entire season around. If Agüero's out, Citeh struggle (hell, with Agüero in they've made heavy weather). I'd back both Utd and Arsenal to make it, but If Southampton can make it out of December still top five, I think it begins to get interesting

Its more evidence that united are still not sorted out yet. The evidence that arsenal are not in dissaray is that they are still odds on for a top 4 and still in the CL. They are in the same position as they have been in for ten years. United slid remarkbly last year and may be on the road to recovery. But alls not fixed yet.Ent wrote:Mysti loves arsenal for some reason.
Although I must say using the fact they made a good number of chances against an inexperienced (teenaged defense) in a game they ended up losing as evidence they aren't terrible/in disarray is one of the more bizarre notions I've seen on this forum.
And Hammersmith your point is only proving mine. United's defence isn't fixed yet.. Its bad. I think Everton and Tottenham are moving forward. Ultimately though Rooney is back to his best and di maria was a top signing.

My point isn't proving yours at all, you pinpoint that our defence is shocking and hasn't been fixed but don't say the same of Arsenal. Every you can say about us is also true of Arsenal, how can you disagree with that?

Why is everyone treating arsernal as anything more than a top 4 club?
Man u were kings of the PL and a European power. Chelsea have taken that mantle. Arsenal are still arsenal .

There will have to be three seriously Poopie teams in this league for us not to go down.
Irvine is a clown. He doesn't have a clue. Two games tops before he gets the sack, and we go beg Pulis to keep us up.

Pullis will carry a stupid price tag.. And then later on try to make you change your pay structure and budget or run away in a huff.
By the way no way wba will go down and i would hate to see berinhinio managed by TP. He needs freedom at his age to become a striker. Under pulls your first job is to defend.

How does that even it out?
Compare A & B
In direct comparison A defeats B
But A lost to C?

It's all crap,
A > B > C > D > E etc
Over a 38 game season id trust Arsenal to finish 4th over anyone because as i said last year. It's what we do people, we have a lull of bad results then pick it up over a run when said place gets threatened then slot in comfortably 2 games from end of season. That being said i doubt West Ham/Newcastle/Southampton have the squads to cope with having to win each and every week.

I wouldn't be shocked at all to see Arsenal in the top four come May, same with Utd, it's looking only really Southampton that could be the fly in the ointment for a return to the norm of the top four.

I wouldnt be surprised if Arsenal got 4th...but whats the point any more? You never do anything with it, Arsenal have got to be the least interesting team in England

It's fair enough that Johnson's general play gets him a regular kicking on this thread but that really was a very good goal. Commitment as Crimey said earlier plus awareness and anticipation. Lambert also did extremely well to win the header with three Stoke defenders around him and beat the keeper albeit not the bar.

He struggled for much of the game but when it opened up and there was a bit of space he was pretty good, I imagine that's why he hasn't made it at a higher level, doesn't have the ability to do things in tight spaces.

He was their best player by a mile against us. I think he's confident he's better on the ball than his teammates so can do what is instinctive. Beautiful technique and such a clean striker of the ball

Maybe . he has the ability. But does he have the heart and I can't see united taking on the option to buy unless you can get him cheaper than the qouted figure. Maybe if he doesn't play much or/and under performs you may do. Tbh I think this loan spell is going to be pointless.

That knee injury, for someone of his age & movement was always going to take a % away from his game. If he keeps picking up niggles, LVG won't take up the option. I don't really see him starting regularly anyway. Cavani is heavily linked to United in the summer.

if mourinho set up away against arsenal sitting deep then countering and won the game it would have been a master class, we do it and win but its only because we were lucky
not to mention the amount of players we had missing, would like to sEe chelsea do the same missing terry, cahill and ivanovic!

Fantastic technical skills, but frustrating lack of end product seems to have been the general theme of his career so far. Moments of brilliance, but far too few that affect the outcome of a game.Crimey wrote:He struggled for much of the game but when it opened up and there was a bit of space he was pretty good, I imagine that's why he hasn't made it at a higher level, doesn't have the ability to do things in tight spaces.Dolphin Ziggler wrote:Bojan has looked so good lately

Catermole could have 10 MOTM performances for Sunderland, he'd never be picked by Roy. Roy has his basic squad already in his mind, he picks what he knows & trusts. He won't deviate from it.
Guest- Guest
Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
That's not true. In fact Roy has picked more different England players in his time as coach as I can remember any other .
Catermole looks like a Carrick or Jedi but one that can also pass. It's a good option for englamd against better sides that may be dangerous against roys diamond.

Because Carrick cant pass? Not a big fan, hes perfectly alright but his ability on the ball is limited, discipline poor and he would have no impact on games that England werent conceding 70% possession in.

But the point remains. Wilshire keeps getting injured . Carrick is 33. We need to find a plan b as a defensive midfielder. And people may not realise how important Jedi is to palace. Very similar to catermole but worse at passing. Who else is there?

England hysteria has gone into full overdrive in recent seasons, with anyone who plays a few decent games put forward for a call up (and often getting one).
I remember when people has to prove themselves over a period of time before becoming internationals.

Catermole is a good player. You lot never learn do you. I wish I had the history of your comments putting down players like Sturrridge, welbeck and Wilshire(to name a few.. Hell you lot get on Rooney's back every week!!) Then you all just go quiet.
And palace will lose bolasie as well.
But that event should not happen. Some things are more important than football.

I think Carrick is better at passing the ball around, keeping it ticking. Wilshere is better at passing in tight spaces, intricate stuff. Which you'd rather have depends solely on your team's playing style.
