Whats Going On In Wales Part 3
First topic message reminder :
Understand but if the EGM had gone a certain way his position would have been untenable.
Thats not going to happen now.
Did I hear correctly that a joint statement is due by WRU and RRW concerrning central/joint contracts.
Also heard something about an East/West split within RRW but they may be just groundless gossip

I agree the Valleys Rugby idea was daft btw. Not the only thing that is daft in Wales though, at this present time.

Only Newport to the uneducated/ignorant really. Which part of Newport is Ystrad Mynach in? We all know what these disenfranchised types mean when they call Dragons that and it isn't just because they conveniently don't notice the other names in the name. It's a poor example showing the website by the way, as the menu I get on my mobile has more Dragons things than anything
Still, he can call us what he likes I guess. I'll enjoy watching my region regardless. Hope he does too. Cardiff have made some handy signings.

The fact that Ponty are the main feeder team in Rhondda Cynon Taff to HIS REGION along with many people I know from Ponty rugby club giving up their free time to help out with the Blues Youth and Under 21s etc. for HIS REGION then working on the basis that we contribute as a club to Cardiff Rugby Ltd I don't think old Peter Pies needs to have my undying love for making a contribution to HIS REGION anytime soon

If you think about it, I spose that would include supporters from across the bridge who visit Dave. Must be fun chatting to them and explaining that the Drags are not Newport.

Anyway, twitter is saying peace is imminent.........again.
The new Rugby Services Agreement or RSA (acronymabulous!) to be announced next week.
I don't believe it myself, but there we are.

I'd class them as uneducated, in the sense they wouldn't appreciate what work the Dragons do for the wider region. People like Steffan and his fellow 901,036,135 I'll never be a blue, fellow disenfranchised Ponty fans have such information freely available, but choose to be petty. There is a huge difference.

Only an arch-Ponty fan like you would have the gall to think Ponty are feeding anything bar their own bloated sense of importance/entitlement.
I don't hate Ponty - like 99% of the rugby world they are kind of an irrelevance to me.
YOUR REGION are developing players through YOUR REGION's academy, which they then pay whilst they play for your club team. YOUR REGION are also exposing your best players to pro rugby and then loaning them back to you for free. If YOUR REGION are just Cardiff Rugby LT in another guise, wtf would they give a sh1te about Ponty, especially given their sum contribution to YOUR REGION is that colossus of the second row Chris Dicomedis and a whopping great chip on their collective shoulder?

Well as far as I am concerned Cardiff Blues are nothing more than a re-franchised version of the old Cardiff RFC with the Blue and Blacks being a Cardiff 'B' team so nothing surprises me with "my region"Cardiff Dave wrote:Steffan wrote:I couldn't care less to be honest. I am not concerned about Martyn Williams he made his choice to pledge his allegiance to Cardiff a long time ago and has made a lot of money from it so good luck to him although the fact he still doesn't have the guts to show his face in Ponty Rugby Club after all these years says it all really
I still think it's disgusting the poor turnout he had from the Cardiff supporters at the Cardiff City Stadium for his testimonial. Very bad considering all his years of service for the club

In all fairness the guy is not hated at Ponty. He made his choice to turn his back on the club that nurtured him from a boy all the way through to a senior player and we respect his choice to become one of Peter Pies little minions. He is not respected or held in any esteem though and it's because of this he chooses to stay well awayJenifer McLadyboy wrote:without wanting to get involved in your row on either side. I agree with your first sentence coz it's true and being told by the WRU that they are your reejun obviously winds you up. Winds me up too. So here's a mad suggestion; why not let Ponty be Ponty and Cardiff be Cardiff and let both get on with what they do best without having to adhere to a pseudo reejunal concept type thingy?
Your 2nd point suggests that Nugget is not welcome at Ponty RFC. I find that difficult to believe. As for him not having the guts to show his face, yeah right.
Poor turnouts at CCS were the norm i'm afraid for reasons that have been talked about a million times and IIRC Martyn wanted his testimonial played at the Arms Park. At the time the future of Cardiff RFC was up in the air. Great player for Cardiff, but we've had many great players.

Stalking a Ponty fan? What would be the point, there's six million of you after all, never go anywhere in South Wales without seeing a jersey or three.
If you don't like having your club's ludicrous sense of entitlement pointed out to you, why don't you stop dragging this thread down to that level?

There's never been a Gatland's law, though I think we can expect one to slowly make it's way in with dual contracts, etc. Roberts and Lydiate will probably be the first two to come home.

There was NEVER Gatlands law FFS.
He stated that if players went abroad to play they would be risking their Welsh place if they weren't 1st choice in whatever team they were playing for and with the exception of Gethin Jenkins all the players picked from overseas were pretty much first choice.
He NEVER said he wouldn't pick them.

Supposedly one of the terms of the RSA was that any player, after the agreement was signed, who takes a contract outside of the regions wouldn't be considered for selection. Or at least that was how it was reported everywhere that I had seen it, meaning the current exiles are ok, but need to return at the end of their current contracts, and any future player leaving takes the choice.

You don't exactly hear of, or see Roberts and Davies cutting up trees in France. Considering Williams is playing well and Allen might improve our midfield could see a change. Probably for the better seeing as the latter 2 are in Wales right now.

For the new deal I hadn't seen it reported anywhere that there would be a 'ban' on foreign based players that move after the agreement. Just that Welsh based players would be 'favoured'. Supposedly the amount of 'favouring' would be increased from what it was before (pretty much nil) but Gatland can still pick whoever he wants.

The new deal said he could pick players in exceptional circumstances it DOESN'T say he can't or won't pick them nor does it say they must return at end of their current contract - just that those going now or those choosing to stay may not be automatically considered as they are now.
Saint,
As for JD they are what 2/3 games into their season so bit early to say yet how he will go.

Actually both are playing well. JD2 had a good game for Claremont last weekend, while Roberts was on defensive duty more than attack.

From the RRW statement
It would be interesting to know what the exceptions are. Is it, several injured players before a World Cup, or is it, Gatland thinks they're better than the guys in Wales. I hope they're clearly defined but they probably won't be released.

I have a feeling it is that Gats thinks they are the better player.

Its a shame that a certain poster (who had a real distaste for non-welsh players at the regions) is no longer here, as he could have given us a nice long list of who the 50 players were.

Really hope Anscombe isnt one of them. But i think the writing is on the wall with him. 15 players would be a good number. Hopefully the younger ones. Lee is a must. I do worry he could be offered crazy money from English or French clubs next time his contract is up.

I think Anscombe has proved talented enough in the super XV to warrant investing. He qualifies through family not residency.
We will have to wait and see as even the BBC reports are just supposition at the moment.
