Wimbledon Day 8
First topic message reminder :
So we are nearing the business end of Wimbledon.
Federer is up against Robredo looking to avenge his US Open defeat last year.
Nadal will face the new kid on the block Kyrgios.
Wawrinka is up against Lopez and Raonic will face Nishikori.
On the ladies side Sharapova against Kerber.
Kvitova, Lisicki and Halep all in action.
Interestingly enough Wimbledon is the only event not to have Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray all clash in the Semi's. So could we see that duck get broken?

The women's draw is wide open now.
I'd like to see Halep or Bouchard win a first slam.

I'm happy for any of the remaining women in draw to win it, but if I had to choose I would go for Radwanska - a modern-day Hingis beating her opponent from angles and guile rather than power. Or Lisicki, who has a touch game to add to her power.

*Doh!* - Radwanska lost to Makarova - must do my research before posting next time - ah well, never mind, next year Aggie!

Trying to work out why the BBC are referring to Laura Robson as "Injured British Number 2"
Do we really need the 'Injured' part?

I was impressed with Kyrgios when I saw him, but get a feeling that Nadal will step things up in this match - going for a high quality, v tight 3 set win for Nadal.

Unlucky Nick, that backhand down the line missed by milis on the break point.

The way he is serving I guess he already reached three figure in aces.

Given a dream backhand and serve he got a nightmarishly poor return.

Re: Wimbledon Day 8
Two breaks of serve went begging coz of his poor return, Kyri should have otherwise won this set 6-1.

The kid's backhand has been smooth as a silk yet stings like a bee.

Is he Kyrigious or Karlovic? Dr. Evil would be proud of the amount of aces this Kid has delivered.

Thought if Stan can beat Nadal, I don't mind Fed losing to him, in hope that Stan can crush Djoko again
I don't see why Stan is seen as having little chance
This is a far different specimen to the mental lightweight of a couple of years ago. Would he have (rightly) stood up for himself about the schedule, back then? What about his hilarious complaint about Lopez today - I thought he was doing a version of Mac playing Connors here in 81' :-)
I think he's seriously motivated and we have to ask ourselves who exactly has Roger played. Blimey he's had an easier time of it than Andy

This is a KORGI-SAURAZ , What a bite he is getting on his serve, I lost count of his aces, did it reach 4 figure mark?

Flipping heck!!! Are we seeing one of those 'once in a generation' moments, like when Federer beat Sampras?
I might have to revise my comment that no current teenager is going to win a slam within 4 years!!
Mind you, I don't care what anyone says - Rafa is uncomfortable for too much of his matches, for his rivals not to take advantage later (assuming he gets through)

Nadal seems very nervous and now a tone of pressure on him. Toilet break?

4 Aces for Nadal was due to his poor returns and anticipation, its only getting better and he is starting to read Rafa's serve as we saw in the tail end of the 1st set. The question mark now is can this kid finish the bull before the bull tires him out.
Watch out for all time wasting tactics from Rafa here on to spoil the focus of the kid.

Re: Wimbledon Day 8
against a guy serving like kyrgios, everytime you get to a tie breaker you are probably going to lose.
its all a matter of being solid with your own serve, and nadal is all but solid with his serve on grass this year.
also kyrgios has showed he can perform well in long matches... so this is getting really difficult for nadal right now.
nadal would have much preferred gasquet or monfils here

BB, I have been advocating this kid is a real deal, got a dream backhand and serve and a very good forehand to back it up, and he is only 19.

Nothing to panic as of now, we have to see whether Kyri can hold tat level for 2 more sets.

We laughed, because it's ridiculous to compare a player who might be the real deal, with one who rarely bothers to turn up. There's no happy smiling hard luck face, milking sympathey from the crowd with Kyrgios - what I like is that he looks as mentally mean as Nadal, Djoko and Murray did at his age
It's his mental attitude that excites me the most. God help my plans for Murray domination at the age of 30, if this guys's got the same attitude as Hewitt

the only good thing for nadal (and I am not even sure about this anymore) is that first set took 50 minutes

Its only gonna go up, watch out for the 2nd set stats, I would be surprised if its less than 30 secs.
