Wimbledon Day 8
First topic message reminder :
So we are nearing the business end of Wimbledon.
Federer is up against Robredo looking to avenge his US Open defeat last year.
Nadal will face the new kid on the block Kyrgios.
Wawrinka is up against Lopez and Raonic will face Nishikori.
On the ladies side Sharapova against Kerber.
Kvitova, Lisicki and Halep all in action.
Interestingly enough Wimbledon is the only event not to have Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray all clash in the Semi's. So could we see that duck get broken?

Bit harsh. We've not seen many players his age as good as this, recently
Of course he's a rough diamond - look at Murray as that age
And the rough diamond is giving Nadal a big problem

One more hold/break for the upset. This is big for 19-yo Korgi, if he can.

For me it's a golden chance for Raonic to show if he's the real deal

Sorry to say , there were some people in this forum knew nothing about this kid and took no efforts to watch his matches either and bluntly commented he gonna lose without a fight.
When I made Tsonga remark , I clearly meant he looks every bit of baby Tsonga of 2008, a real giant killer but how far will he go in his career is yet to be seen.

Correct there haven't been many young 'stars' in recent years.banbrotam wrote:Gerry SA wrote:This guy Krygios has mastered the art of 'hit and hope' very well.

But Nadal on grass? He's been blasted 2012 Rosol, 2013 Darcis and now 2014 Krygios.
Nadal can't defend as well on grass as other surfaces, so if you can paint the lines, you can beat him.

Rafa getting beat up at Wimby by previous big hitters was a big factor - but the kid is good
Rafa's problem is the this event, due to the half decent weather of the last couple of years has gone away from a green version of RG!!

Poor Nadal. He's been victim to the 3 biggest Wimbledon (possibly tennis?) upsets of all time.

There is an extra week next year between th and wimby that benefits nadal and djoko a lot. Well done to the kid a famous win. Feds the favourite for the title now

I guess he might struggle against Raonic but may be he will do a Soderling , atleast I am hoping for, a final loss to Murray beating the two legends on the way, Murray fans would be delighted if that happens.

Still as a rafa fan he should have had the third and played a bad tb. He didn't play too well frankly and as such I'm down, but happy to see a good young guy make a statement. Nadal can have little complaint but oh well Is like stan to win Tomoz. He'll be tough if he serves like he did today but Feds looking very good

Re: Wimbledon Day 8
As a Real Madrid fan, there was a time, from about 2004/05 to 2010-2011, we couldnt get past the last 16, it didn't really matter who we faced. Defeats became upsets, but not shocks in the last 16. It's getting that way with Nadal and Wimbledon.

Or he's lacked the ability to adapt?
Could've tried S&V? He's pretty decent at the net

Oh you mean Amritia/IMBL/Red/a million other user names?
He's probably crying in his bedroom. I expect you won't see him for a while but no doubt he'll be back next time Rafa wins something - with a new username, new approach, but always the same goal.
emancipator - may the serve be with you

Re: Wimbledon Day 8
Don't buy this nonsense that now Nadal was always beatable, he just had favourable conditions. It's a bit like when Mike Tyson started losing to road technicians, and journeymen towards the end of his career, everyone started claiming he just wasn't that good in his prime... Come off it.
Suppose Federer is South African now... Let's go Federer!!

Roanic will be real tough, he will face a guy who could serve even better than him, and Roanic got wealth of experience now, I am not saying I support Raonic coz he is from Canada, indeed I hate Raonic's tennis but Korgi would find Raonic more difficult than Nadal.
All Nadal did is put the ball back on court, Roanic would serve bombs and would allow Korgi to sneak into it, but it would be a great fairy tale if this kid could motor along to the finals beating 2 Legends on Wimbledon on his way.
