Any other teams willing to pay over the odds for him?

Zeki Fryers joins Crystal Palace meaning that argument between Manchester United and Tottenham over him means nothing.

Well if Chambers is £12m, and Shaw £30, Wellback has to be in the £15m vicinity

I think he's more than capable of having a Sturridge-like revival at Arsenal but he's also capable of being a donkey. Could go either way and if it's the former, Wenger will have pulled off a very good move. Can he lead the line on his own though? I don't think so. Hernandez might have been a better buy because Arsenal create chances and he can finish.

Re: Summer Transfer Window
wellbecks link up play is very good, he may suit arsenals passing style. he works his arse off, has real pace and strength. just one problem as a striker he's a terrible finisher! sturridge always had that side

That is class from Hull. Bruce really has worked complete wonders when he walked in the door there in 2012.

Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish on BBC Radio 5 live:
4 down, 12 letters?
"We've agreed a deal for a striker. They're at the training ground now trying to finish it. He has played in the Premier League but he's not currently at a Premier League side. We're bringing him in on loan. You will know who he is in about an hour's time."

QPR have said the deal for Defoe won't happen this summer, but probably will in January so seems unlikely.

Re: Summer Transfer Window
Glad Liverpool haven't been involved this year, always end up making an underwhelming signing.
The free agent window doesn't close until later in the year right? So Valdes could conceivably sign later as rumoured.

I don't believe top flight clubs can sign anybody after tonight whether they're free agents or not.

Re: Summer Transfer Window
Also very surprised nobody has gone in for Petr Cech, in the top 5-10 goalkeepers in the world and yet seemingly no interest. I think Chelsea, purposely, made it unclear if he was going to be first choice so as to not have any bids for him. Otherwise the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan who have all signed new goalkeepers would have been interested.

Fair enough, thought the rules were different if they were unattached.

Players who are out of contract and do not have a club, can be signed outside of the transfer window if they are unattached free agents when the window closes.

£6 million for Sandro is a really good deal. Surprised he's gone QPR, was he a Harry buy in the first place? That's the only explanation.

Yeah he was Crimey. Great signing for them.
Shame Richards has left the Prem. Always really rated him, let himself down though after his behavior in 2012.
